Re: Batgirl - Written, Directed and Produced by Joss Whedon

Go back to my first post where I said, if it's INSPIRED casting then I have no problem with it.

The reaching is real :lol

you are the one reaching lol, Jesse Eisenberg was so horrible ANY other actor would have been better, even a woman Luthor would have been better, Jesse Eisenberg didnt even fit the look at all. you are implying that people love him for being white but he sucked REGARDLESS. Denzel is a good actor but he would been miscast as well... hire Halle Berry for Luthor, great actress, much better than Jesse
why have a male Luthor then, get a strong great black actress

Re: Batgirl - Written, Directed and Produced by Joss Whedon

I just said like 2 posts ago that I bet people would have accepted Denzel in the role over Eisenberg. Try again :lol

When Denzel was rumored people in the BvS thread weren't losing their minds like they were when Eisenberg got casted. At this point I don't even know what you're trying to make me look guilty of :lol

Re: Batgirl - Written, Directed and Produced by Joss Whedon

Oh yea I agree, and Patrick Stewart as Professor X is an example of that.

And it's just ****ed up is what I'm saying. I'd pay good money for another Spawn film. I wouldn't mind Stewart as the main GL and Hal as a senior. I wouldn't mind Steel seeing some action. I'd love a Collins!Deathlok Netflix series. I'll be there Opening Night to see Black Panther. But if the Hollywood/Marvel/DC wanna be diverse, then they better start making their white heroes something other than Americans, and giving the black/asian/latino heroes a chance. Changing the colours of already established white characters just ain't gonna cut it.

PS: Also, how come The Rock, a black man, played Heracles, a white man? #blackwashing #staywoke #libertyordeath #SPQR

They could have done it with Doctor Strange, I actually expected them to.

ghost in the shell would have NEVER had controversy if the mail role was giving to a black actress, im sure people would be clapping that casting choice,
look at death note, two asian characters replaced by a white actor and a black actor, but people only have a problem with the white actor. people are only mad that a white guy replaced an asian character. i think if both actors in death note were black replacing those asian characters, people would be extremely happy.
really makes you think

Re: Batgirl - Written, Directed and Produced by Joss Whedon

All the complaints I've heard over Death Note have been over the fact that it wasn't an entire Japanese cast.

Make Stephen black? Nah. Strange was based on Vincent Price, and Ditko toed with making him Romanian, but he want with the safe choice of making him American. They could've easily made him British, considering they cast Cumberbatch, but alas, yet another missed opportunity. It wouldn't completely change the character (he'd still be a white, english-speaking doctor), and it'd give the sense that the world is bigger than just the US. I mean, the fact that a Sanctum Sanctorum exists in the US is a big enough stretch (considering mages have been protecting the Earth for who knows how long, wouldn't it have made more sense for the Sanctums to be located in places that rose up and developed civilizations a couple of centuries BC?).

All I'm saying is, these Hollywood execs go out of their way to make changes to the characters' skins, but don't take the time to make their movies incorporate the whole world. Which is ironic, considering most blockbusters make the majority of their gross overseas.

Re: Batgirl - Written, Directed and Produced by Joss Whedon

I heard that with Ghost in a Shell, most of what I see about Death Note is people being upset over an Americanized version. If people are upset over the white guy though, it could be because he's the main character and the focus of the first trailer :lol

Well... yeah. In the Social-Media of today, when it comes to Blacks vs Asians, the latter often get shafted, because they can pass as "whiteys". The controversy would still exist, but not at this level. Just how a gay male doesn't get as many "points" as a lesbian, because he's still a dude. There's a hierarchy to how opressed you are.

PS: I once saw a Tumblr discourse about making Tony Stark a bisexual who has HIV, to promote that HIV is nothing harmful...

No, I was saying they could have made him British and I expected them to with Cumberbatch playing him. For some reason, I think it would have worked better, Cumberbatch just sounds too weird with his American accent.

Re: Batgirl - Written, Directed and Produced by Joss Whedon

As a Death Note fan, I don't get the Death Note complaints...the comic has been adapted into an animated series that is almost identical, and 3 movies with actors that look about as close as any live action adaptation ever does. Why does the American TV adaptation have to be another lookalike?

Re: Batgirl - Written, Directed and Produced by Joss Whedon

That was autocorrect but c'mon you're really telling me you'd prefer Eisenberg over Denzel for Lex? The fact that's all you took from that post proves my point :lol

Sorry, I didn't feel like arguing so I took the easy way out :lol

here's what so extremely bizarre about this whole thing, right now the biggest market is really the Asian markets. China is one of the biggest markets and they can save a movie from flopping at the box office. you would think Hollywood would be desperately trying to fill every single one of their movies with more asian actors. you would think they would want Lex Luthor or Aquaman to be played by an asian actor, you would think that half of the Avengers cast would be asian actors... I mean, follow the money right? but they dont... they barely hire asian actors for little parts or extras. why is that?

Yeah, I expected that too, but... which is a shame, since they could've tied the Sanctum with Merlin and King Arthur, by having it in Europe. I was working on a Doctor Strange fan-fic back in the day, and I figured it made sense to have Sanctums in places that great civilizations and well known civilizations rose. And like in the film, each Sanctum would have its protector (that way you can use Doctor Voodoo, Scarlet Witch, etc, etc). They kinda did that, but the locations weren't that well thought out.

In SJW Land, Asians are the most related to "whiteys", so they are often passed over. They could've easily done a Shang-Chi series for example, but they went with Iron "we don't have money for the mystical stuff so here's Daredevil but worse" Fist...

Some groups have a louder voice too.

I've noticed in the US no one gives a **** about Native Americans.

I mean, even the media still calls them Indians sometimes :lol
