Sideshow's policy on this though is that they won't be covering the shipping if you choose to order another after returning the first. That is one of the things they explained to me when I asked about the "no exchange" policy. William (the returns coordinator) explained that if you return one and then use the funds to buy another, you now do it at your own risk since you know it is a common issue. You won't be offered the partial credit, and SS will not cover your shipping if you want a refund.

That was one of the reasons I took the credit. If I bought another and got one worse than before, I would be screwed out of the shipping and the credit. :(

I'm really surprised more people are not up in arms about this?
So you return your faulty Batmobile for a full refund. End of transaction, should you chose to buy another they have absolutely no right to change consumer rights on your follow on purchase. It's a new transaction.
I know I wouldn't accept that. You could just get a family member to buy it.

So they are admiting there are major quality issues. They are selling these things without warning unknowing customers of their problems, they are unloading faulty goods on unsuspecting people.

It's disgusting behaviour.

Just got my Batmobile from BBTS, it was opened with a piece of paper saying it was inspected for damage.....if came scratched. I will post up pics soon but the straps that were supposed to hold the canopy in place were off....I think them checking it might have actually been what made it scratched in the first place. I don't know if they put the canopy straps back on right or if those came off during shipping. Either way....getting them to check it ment nothing.

I was just about to ask if anyone had gotten one from BBTS recently. :(

As soon as I heard they were willing to open them and look for damage, but not add in any protective material to ensure safe transport from them to the customer I figured something like this would happen. Very disappointing. :(

Please post pics when you have time. This is what I was afraid of as well. There was a 50/50 chance that if they open it that they would NOT take time to place the Cocoon Shield back on Carefully. I explained all this to Mike @ BBTS, but he never answered my question directly in respect to the QC techs taking time to place the shield on carefully. Now mine is shipped as well and I'm thinking I made a bad decision by having them open and inspect. Boy I cant believe all of this is happening and we spent close to 700.00 for it......Such a shame.....When I get mine I will be sure to take un boxing pics as I go.

Yay. My second one from bbts arrives monday. Hopefully its scratch free. I would have gone with CSC had people not bought their perfect examples..

You mean CSC is out of perfect ones? When did you look?

I talked to Richard earlier this week and he said he's holding one for me to inspect.

They are sold out. I think its because they were freight shipped directly from ss they never suffered any damage. My first came from them. CSC is top notch

So then it really is the cocoon doing the damage and not a factory issue

Yes! In my previous post, I mentioned not so much the armor/shell being pushed on the car, but it is the car being pushed into the armor/shell from below where I think there is a weakness in the packaging. Such damage cannot be prevented by any inspection! Unless your Batmobile is lay flat the whole time and hand delivered, you run the risk of damage at any point in transit. Wait a minute, HT hand delivered the Batmobiles in Hong Kong and no one complaint about scratched up Batmobiles...

Allthey had to do was leave a inch of buffer in the design of the internal packaging. It wld inc the box size by an inch o so. What a shame a 700 dollar collectible and such issues. Also the resale matket is pretty much crashed on this one...

They killed it with the shield, too. Leaving that out would've made the Batmobile cheaper and probably eliminated the shipping problems.

If they had the wisdom to cover the batmobile with a sheet of foam before putting on the armor/shell cover, this issue would be fully resolved, but no, they leave it to the foam pieces at the bottom of the armor/shell and at times they can be missing due to QC issues! And they don't have foam in all the right places to begin with! The end result is the car getting a little bit too close to the armor/shell when pushed from below and scratch happens...very sad, this is my b-day gift for myself...*sigh*

I think shield was not a bad idea. The problem is that they were not in their right minds to leave no gaps at all in between the shield and the car - it is a very stupid thng to do.

I'm not returning this or buying another one as there is no guarantee that it wouldn't get scratched up by this silly packaging. I have now put baby clothes between the armor/shell and the car to prevent any further damage as mine will be staying in the box and getting moved around in the foreseeable future...

Oh, I'm not buying any vehicles from HT ever again...

Joining the chorus, my SECOND Batmobile from CSC arrived today. Richard inspected it *meticulously* before shipping and there were no damages. I was biting my nails while it was in transit from UPS. It arrived ALMOST flawless except for one obvious paint rub on the canopy. It had to have occurred during shipping and handling. At least it didn't have the glue globs and residue on the windows the first one had.

I give up. I am disgusted by the entire ordeal. I will live with it but my eyes cannot stop zeroing in on it when I look at it. Hot Toys needs to rethink their packaging by adding more protection. This whole fiasco would have been avoided. I WON'T be buying the Adam West Batmobile or any other 1:6 vehicle after this mess, that's for certain.

****** sake. It really shouldn't be that hard to package these things so as they don't get damaged. If I can do it as an amateur seller HT should be able to do it.

As the US distributor, it's pretty pathetic that Sideshow can't open these and add that foam sheet they use for all their statues. I know this isn't their product, but this is one of those times where they should've stepped in.

The good news is you should be able to request a replacement canopy and solve your problems. Now we know they're getting damaged stateside during shipment, as I suspected. The boxes are either getting left upside down or being buried under other heavy boxes, either way resulting in the shield pressing down over the car.

Wait... They are offering replacement canopies? I wasn't offered that when I called. :(
