In my defense, though, tons of people HAVE had that take on the film. I had to correct a close friend on it just a couple of months ago, actually. Drives me nuts, obviously.

Hell it may be the most polarizing *superhero* flick yet, though I have a feeling its only a sneak preview of the reactions to Snyder's "Man of Steel."

Not amongst the general population though, it's had pretty overwhelming positive ratings overall.

Well, pretty much every Batman film aside from B&R has fared well with mainstream audiences. If a Batman film fails there then it's really got huge problems.

#18 of all time at this time. The audience here is pretty much fans of film, not fans of Batman or Nolan as such.
The only Batman film with a better rating is TDK. BB is #108.
No other Batman flick is in the top 250 apart from these 3.

Good point. And it did get an "A" rating with Cinemascore which only polls diehard fans on opening day. So yeah, just a few people on this site who had misplaced expectations appear to be the only ones who were let down.
