That codpiece doesn't look so prominent either. Not a fan of how the cowl kinda looks like its coming off.
Otherwise looks great

The fit of the cowl is one thing I'm not crazy about too. The mouth sculpt is close but no cigar. The body armor detail is killer, though.

The rest of the PF is amazing. Yeah the mouth area looks weird to me too

Maybe they were trying to get the gap between the face and the cowl, however, it did not translate well imo. The face looks good though, much better than the Reeve sculpt.

I really wanted to love this, after all this is the movie that made me love batman. However that's just not Keaton under the mask, i'm not sure who it us, but it's not Keaton.

Also what's with the flat area on the cowl in the brow area and the crease from the eyebrow to the ear, it never looked like that?

You guys are tripping. Best 1/4 Keaton era Batman your ever gonna get.

just bcz its the best 1/4 you're gonna get doesn't mean its good enough..some people have a higher standard for bats…and at $400 a pop, this thing better not have anything that sticks out like a huge codpiece

and if you look at those two pics that jedi posted, there is a difference between how the cowl wraps around the face between the two pics..bcz of that i think it affects the way/amount that it looks like keaton…the suit looks great except the codpiece…those are my two complaints

To be totally honest I think the 1/4 neca batman is better, its certainly a better likeness. The pf has great boots and gloves and other things going for it, but his face looks like its wilting and for £300 I want to see Keaton under the mask.

:lol You guys remember that sculpting is an art right? When you're dealing with art, even if its castings of an artists sculpter it's open to the artists perspective of the object/person. Granted these aren't supposed to be abstract compositions or impressions but its still up to the artist and the license holder to approve.

If it isn't "good enough" for you you've got three choice; buy it and have it's altered, commission one from a sculptor or hope to learn how to do it yourself.
So your "standards" aren't going to change much

I think within reason tho…I mean, the name of the game is to land the likeness right? I mean they are labeling it as michael keaton..so that part should be pretty damn accurate…lol so the only other part is if the artist/sculptor had some fun with the codpiece and enhanced it, under the guise of "artistic perspective" as you call it (which certainly looks like what happened; I don't think keaton himself would own up to that damn thing..maybe its from the porn, "batman cums and returns"..idk..)…and you forgot option 4: go on a forum and complain/vent and pray the company alters it somehow, and try to feel better about it… :D

Well I'm fairly sure every toy that was ever labeled with the movies name was supposed to look like him but not many did, granted different scales.

Here let me give you a hypothetical that will basically give you my perspective on the whole collecting statues as art objects.

Okay, we go to a art show/convention of some sort. No one at the convention is selling commissions but everyone has ready made art to sell. Since you and I are both Batman fans, we're looking for Batman art. We scan the con and the only piece of Batman art we find is done by a guy we both hate as artist. It kinda looks like Batman, but not really what we're looking for. I pass, so now you have a decision to make, do you A. Buy it any way because you gotta get your fix? B. Pass on it and wait until the next show/con and see what's available or C. Save your money and just commission one of your favorite artists to do the Batman piece that you want?

I mean, it's pretty much the same scenario. I've actually been waiting up until this moment to see if I wanted to buy this piece and I'm telling you right now after seeing the head sculpt up close and the way the the cowl sits on top of the cape I'm more confused than ever and when that happens, it's usually a pass for me.

It's nice but after seeing what HT has done with Keaton Bats in 1/6 scale I think the best 1/4 scale Keaton Bats is yet to come. The inevitable 18" 1989 Batman Hot Toys figure should be impressive.

For statue collectors, though, this will probably be their best and only choice...at least for a long, long time.

100% agree with everything in this post. Just take a look at what hot toys is doing with the 1/6 returns and I dare you to say that it's anyone under that cowl than keaton. That being said, I don't see HT taking a crack at a 1/4 scale burton figure for some time so for now I'm putting my money down on this awesome statue to tide me over. Even if their head sculpt is a bit off the mark.

I think NECA's is better than this. Likeness, armor, everything.

I do love the steps and cape on this PF though. They look great.

NECA's likeness is amazing. That's a given. They're usually good with that stuff.
