I got the e-mail about this yesterday. I wasn't happy to get it, but I think SSC is handling it as well as they can. Kudos to them on doing so.

After Wanderers comments even people who haven't recieved the bust with the oil issue, aren't safe, as it can happen a few days/weeks later. So if, sideshow are checking for oil now they could still be shipping 'bad' statues, to customers.

What!? I never understand where the oils are coming from, is it from the bust itself or from the materials that protect it during shipment?

Well the email response to my exact question suggested that it was "excess moisture built up during transit" and they have no idea of the lasting effects the oil residue could have on the paint job hence why they are looking at a mass recall.
I went ahead and wiped the dome with a soft wet cloth. Got rid of the oil but left a light misty discolouration over the top...I tried to sort it and now I'm even more gutted!!

FairPlay to SS as their customer service as always is spot on but what a monumental f-up they've made (an not for the first time) on such a premium item...

This is sad. It's SSC's first DC release and collectors are dealing with a massive recall. I'm sure SSC will make things right. Still, this must be very frustrating for the peeps who bought this bust.

checked my bust and so far no dreaded oil or moisture.

Probably a different container since my was shipped to asia and not to the uk or us.

Looks like it took a bat dive all bust will most likely be hallow its how they can cut on price IMO. Only bust I own that are not hallow are SSC first bust Spiderman and symboite spidey
