The codex was just an old Kryptonian skull with the DNA of billions or trillions of Kryptonians imprinted onto/into it. Either no more DNA recombination is being performed, or it's extremely controlled. But the original unaltered DNA of those ancient Kryptonians is imprinted onto that skull, so Jor El decided to put that data inside the one and only survivor from Krypton . So, while the planet is gone, the natural DNA of trillions of Kryptonians still survives, and so there still exists the possibility of recreating the Kryptonian race, if nothing else. It makes sense :dunno

Wasn't that their cradle of life, to make the babies.

He sent it to a planet that doesn't follow this ideology.

Actually, our tomatoes are GMO, might as well make GMO kids now.

Was anything like that ever explored in the comics at all overs the years?

I know there are various Superman stories - depending on what timeline / earth you're dealing with.. but, hmm.

There are various codex-esque type shenanigans in some Supes comics, none that involve DNA on Superman's cells that I recall, but stuff like Superman having a microscopical army of kryptonians to save him from apoptosis, after failing Superman released the army though his pores to help children in a hospital instead.

Like Kara says, there has to be a payoff to the Codex thing, because while I like the concept, it wasn't well explored in MoS, so a proper payoff like restoring Krypton further down the road, could fix that.

Kind of...I guess :lol The purpose of the codex was to have a perfectly crafted set of genetic sequences for different roles/casts/guilds. It's their database from which they pull genetic material to craft the next generation because they don't reproduce using intercourse and internal gestation for reproduction. The Codex is an informational database. The skull was simply a medium containing that database, and Kal-El became the new medium.

He used Kal-El as a medium so that the Codex could act as an Ark for the Kryptonian people. This is what he was petitioning the Council for even before Zod arrived. Zod wanted the Codex so that he could cull the degenerate bloodlines from it and shape the future of Kryptonian society. Jor-El was against it...I guess, so I'm guessing that the kryptonian race would be resurrected by natural birth. Jor-El did not give Kal-El instructions to use the Genesis Chamber. He knew Kal-El would grow up as a human and have affection for them...or maybe he wanted Sups to "Look to the stars," which Jor-El was a proponent of, to find a world where Kryptonians could live again...I have no idea :lol

Viral Video Lies About How Man of Steel Really Looks - compares the VideoLab "original" shots to the actual Blu-ray.

Blu-ray top, VideoLab bottom

People are dense as hell. The video is ********. iMovie isn't a ****ing lab. The "restored" version doesn't look anything natural. It's oversaturated and gross.

Love Larry Fong's response to it all.

:lol

:lol

:lol busted! I knew it.

I think it could've been done right, but those guys really botched it up and it came up looking crude and cheap.

They look like Dildos, and this was apparent immediately. A lot of heads turned when those appeared on screen at the showing I saw and if it had been bright enough I no doubt would have made out furrowed brows on all those turned heads.

Just saying sarcophagi also have that silhouette...
And the fact that the first thing people saw in the theatres was that doesn't negate the fact, does it?

Come on man.. how obvious does it have to be. :lol

Again, just look at pics of Egyptian sarcophagi and tell me they don't have the same shape.

That's ridiculous.

Nice ***** in your sig, by the way.

Of course. If you have seen Giger's art, you know he was always putting sexual shapes into his work.
It would be odd if you didn't see it... :wink1:
