Well, that was...bad...Like...really, really bad... Let's examine what went bad (well, everything, but oh well):
-Doomsday: Boy oh boy, ain't this one a let down. He looks like a mutated Cave-Troll. But hey, it's a good thing that the Abomination from TIH found a new job after Marvel gave him the sack.
-Lex Luthor: Just...no...The humor in the Marvel moviews works because most of the people doing the humor make sense. Stark is an arrogant *******, Cap is still stuck in the 40s, Star-Lord is an immature boy abducted by aliens, etc, etc... You may not like the jokes and that's fine, but the characters being funny makes sense. Here, you're essentially taking Luthor and making him act like a college student hooked on Energy-Drinks. This is just Domashev all over again...
-The humor: Ah yes, I remember the days when the DC fans prided themselves over the fact that their movies were "mature" and "of a higher breed". And ya know, that was good. DC stuff was bleaker and that's alright, not everything needs to be humorous. But, these jokes sound like Marvel stuff that got cut in the editting floor. And that's saying something considering that 40% of the dialog in there is quips...I mean, seriously, "Is she with you?", that's your closing line? Jesus...
-The theme: Yes, we got it, you're going with the "God vs Man" angle...I for one, hate that. That's the major thing from this movie I don't like. That certain angle is overplayed, oversaturated and the lazy filmmaker's way of appearing "intellectual". Instead of trying to portray such events rather "realistic", Snyder just chooses to go with the always "reliable" "supahpowared poeple are Godz and we're antzzz" story-arc. And I don't like that.
-Wonder Woman: Is anyone worried that we still haven't heard a single word coming from Diana's mouth? The fact that they're more willing to spoil the final battle rather than give us a bit of dialogue isn't exactly reasuring...
All in all, the trailer was bad, and it's really making my excitement go down. From the 2 newly released trailers, CW wins hands down. You feel for Cap, you feel for Tony, you get to know why the Government is trying to control them. You've seen what happens when they go unsupervised, but you've also seen what happens when they're being controlled. You understand both POVs, because, for better or worse, you know these characters. You know how they think, how they act, everything. You're emotionally invested in them.
With BvS, you're getting a Superman you don't recognise fighting against a Batman you've never seen. There's no past friendship between the two, so the fight is of no consequence in a way. You know they're just gonna fight and then team-up to fight injustice and yadda, yadda, yadda. Snyder's essentially adapting a "story" that centers around a destroyed friendship and conflicting ideologies, which showed us how even dear friends can turn into bitter enemies. But, what he does is instead just focusing on the fight. Which, again, does not make me feel like it "matters". Kal and Bruce are not friends, they're strangers, so the figh carries no emotional weight.
