Well, I'm disappointed in this latest trailer for several of the reasons that have already been mentioned. It started out fine, but things started to go south when Eisenberg's Lex showed up. It's probably not fair to be overly critical of someone's performance when you've only seen a few seconds of it in a trailer. Maybe this take on Lex will grow on me, but for now, I can only say that it's at this point in the trailer where the tone shifts dramatically from the tone we saw in the previous two trailers, and even the clip that premiered on Gotham a couple days ago.
To be fair, I'm not as disappointed as some, in the look of Doomsday (assuming that is, in fact, Doomsday). To me, he more or less looks like Doomsday (minus a few spikes, I guess). Where I think they messed up however, was revealing him in this trailer at all. It gives away too much of the plot, and it feels like another point in the trailer where the shift in tone is pretty jarring.
And that brings me to my last criticism. The editing for this trailer seems strange. There are a lot of shots in this trailer that, by themselves, are really cool shots. But as a whole, everything seems sort of thrown together. It's a shame because I thought the Comic Con footage was really well put together.
While I'm still really looking forward to seeing the movie, this did seem like a step backwards.
For now, I'm still holding out hope that this was just a bad misfire on the trailer, and doesn't reflect the final product.
