You make a good point here. He's supposed to be representative of a real-life annoying ******, so the fact that he's an annoying ****** maybe should be more forgivable :lol

I don't mind Jesse's demeanor or performance, but damn his lines. I remember one reviewer said that Jar Jar Binks is a "humorous character written by someone who has absolutely no understanding of humor." With regard to Luthor he feels like an evil genius written by someone who has no idea how an evil genius would act or what they would say.

"You're psychotic."

"That’s a three-syllable word for thoughts too big for little minds."

Huh? That makes absolutely no sense.

Compare that to a similar exchange between Keanu Reeves and Dennis Hopper in Speed:

"You're crazy."

"Poor people are crazy Jack. I'm eccentric."

Now THAT is a good comeback. And Hopper isn't even playing a genius, just a disgruntled smartass who's into bombs.

And then there's "If man won't kill God, the devil will do it!"

Once again, what? That's a very random and seemingly baseless thing to say. What religion would he even be basing that notion on?

In Red Dawn the one dude is all, "If you have problems with foxes you call a hunter," or whatever the line is. Why? Because in a head to head showdown hunters always kill foxes. If I were one of Lex's men when he said the "devil" line I'd be inclined to say, "Uh Lex, doesn't the devil always get his ass handed to him by God?" :lol

I get what they're going for, but right now it feels pretty inept. But who knows, maybe this new version of Lex is going to be comical because of his propensity for awkward sayings and it will just be a deliberate quirk they give to the character.

It's hard to keep track of who likes and hates what anymore. People who agree with eachother on one thing are disagreeing with eachother about another thing. All this intermixing and cross-mojination of opinions, I can't be having this. Look, everyone just agree with me, right? Whatever my opinion may be on a given film at a particular time. Easy.

Fab is just mixing things up. :lol

Anakin was badly written, badly cast and the badly acted.
Kylo was well written, well cast and very very well acted.

All that matters is that we know where everyone stands on Terminator vs. T2. That's the only criteria you really need to be able to judge the value of a person.

Yeah, but again, I can see some Silicone Valley ********* saying nonsensical **** like that in an attempt to sound more clever than he is. BUT, I honestly don't think it's intentional. A lot of it's probably ad-libbed. And Snyder just doesn't have enough sense to realize how bad it really is. And some of it is probably just bad writing, from a Goyer who doesn't have enough sense to realize how bad it really is.

Or like others are alluding to, a Lex that is a product of the times: a snobby, Starbucks-sippin', self-entitled genius who thinks too highly of himself and believes he's poetic with words. Holy ****! Lex Luthor is a parody of Kanye West!

I don't think I really see Khev criticize anything.

I try not to belabor my reasons for being less than impressed with movies. I had high hopes for Spectre and found it to be greatly lacking in many areas. I made mention of a few of those aspects in the "Rate the last movie you saw" thread and that was it.

I also saw about 75% of Fant4stic recently and I guess I could have gone off about the stupid parts but, meh, no need. I remember greatly disliking Divergent and TMNT (especially the latter) when I saw them for free on HBO but I just don't have any interest in having long discussions about crappy movies.

I did have to take a step back from some of our T1 vs T2 debates though. It did hit me that I was really going off about ripping apart what was still a very good sequel. Maybe not the vein in which I wanted Cameron to continue the story but I did get the feeling that I was robbing myself of my own appreciation of it's merits and being a wet blanket for those of you who love it. I thought why the hell am I doing that?

At the end of the day these are all just dumb movies, yes, even our Terminators a-dev.

T2 is my favorite. Sure, T1 is the original and without it, there's no T2, and in a way T2 is a remake of the original film, but like all great sequels, it improves upon the original by giving us a better protagonist/hero, a better female protagonist, an iconic villain, better special effects and better action sequences with a very climatic, action packed, yet emotional ending. The film also managed to humanized the T-800, while retaining all the great qualities that made him so likable in the first place.

Nope. Nope...not gonna do it. I'm just walking away. Just walking...away...

:lol

What are your thoughts on LOTR being about people walking great distances and 2 gay hobbits?

Well there is lots and lots of walking.
Frodo and Sam do act like a couple.

At least we have the awesome The Two Towers.

And for the record, T1 all the way.
I like T2
I like TG
I like the PT
I like the OT
I like the NT
I like MOS
I like LOTR
I hate The Hobbit Part 1.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, but I can only assume that you are either a T1 guy, or somehow in your twisted mind you feel that TFA and T2 somehow share some similarities as far as being superior to the original film. Either way, I disagree with you :pfft: :lol

There's a lot of that going on with regard to Aliens these days. You must join me Khev so we can destroy the arguments from Alien purists *spoken in Count Dooku voice*

I don't necessarily prefer T2 when all is said and done. I've probably watched T1 more often over the past few years. Ultimately I talk about T2 more by virtue of having to defend it all the time from people who are WRONG on the internet.

Right errr *clears throat* well T1 is shorter, less of a time-commitment, disposable entertainment to be watched on the fly....so obviously it has less depth and ehh T2 is therefore better.

*wipes brow*
