Says you and about five other people (all Batman fans randomly enough.) The rest of us know a great and layered character when we see one.

You know who else was great and layered? Anakin Skywalker, but under all those layers of robes and clothing, he was nothing but a little *****...just like his grandson.:lol Vader was a badass, though.

After reading most of the comments in the last two pages, I get the feeling that even "fans" don't even know what the **** they want from a BVS film, because you all have different ideas of what a good BVS is, and some of you even contradict yourselves at times...kind of. One of the major criticism some of you had about MOS was how serious and melodramatic it was and how it wasn't "fun"....now you get silly Marvel humor and one liners in the last trailer and some of you are asking for a "drama" and ...what happened to the film from that initial "awesome" teaser trailer...which got mixed reviews when it was released, but I guess now people love it even though a lot of people didn't like it because it wasn't fun like the SW trailer that was released the same week :lol

The best thing Snyder and WB can do, is not listen to the fans and the criticism and just make the film they want to make, and tell the story they want to tell using this modern "edgy" Superman. And those of you who think Batman will "save" this film, he won't...not as long as Superman is in the film to remind your hate of MOS and Snyder's take on the character.

Says you and about five other people (all Batman fans randomly enough.) The rest of us know a great and layered character when we see one. But by all means you and your friends can keep up the campaign that Kylo was weak if it makes you feel better.

So all the Kylo Ren memes making fun of him and comparing him to Anakin were created by the five people in SSF?

Based on the popularity of the character? Probably. Who gives a **** about memes? :lol If you go by "memes" then apparently "TR-8R" (which isn't even his designation) is the coolest most popular SW character ever. Yeah, no.

Fantastic Four got way more hate than this :lol
Absolutely. That film was doomed before it hit the theatres and rightly so.

He would have not accept this if it was going to suck...

But the answer to not being overly dark and brooding in a Superman movie isn't sticking in terrible, awkward jokes.

I have said, since I first saw MOS and heard the news that they were going this route, that they might as well keep going with it. If you're gonna do "dark and gritty," even if it's totally inappropriate for the character, go balls out and offer no excuses. The very worst thing they can do is not know what direction they're going, and mix in half-assed attempts at levity where it doesn't fit at all. Marvel, despite its many faults, actually balances that stuff fairly well. Jury is still out here of course, but with MOS we had neck snapping followed almost immediately by "he's kinda hawt!" . . .

Yup, a clash of tone is what Kara is talking about.

I don't think anyone here (on Sideshow) have been hypocritical with their opinions when it comes to their feelings on the recent DC movies.

I think you're in denial. I'm not saying Kylo is a bad character because I like him for what he is, but I'm not sure you do. When people say that Kylo is a lot like Annie, they're not wrong, and the only real difference is that the new actor is better at his craft, but the character is very similar. The reason I like him is because he's not Darth Vade, unlike Annie. Instead, he a whinny Darth Vader wannabe with the demeanor of a spoiled pouty child who his own people don't take seriously...he's kind of pathetic, and I don't mean that in a bad way, but that's who and what he is in TFA.

I don't think the film will have that much humor considering Batman and Superman don't like each other and there's all this tension, so I think that's just the marketing wanting to appeal to the masses who want a "fun" film, and that's what humor implies....Batman looks at the camera, says something funny = money.

Maybe Luthor will be a humorous character, which might not be a bad thing, but it's too early to tell if he's good in the movie. I think this film will be very similar to MOS as far as the tone and portrayal of Superman.

Actually, you know what, despite hating and dissing on that "do you bleed" Conan clip, it did get me thinking. Out of context with Henry Cavill's performance and the awkward shots, it is pretty bad. Horrible even. But in context of the movie when we know that Batman lights up the signal again towards the end for their confrontation? I dunno, maybe it does pay off as a whole.

It atleast makes Batman cool and interesting as a character (not so much for Superman). It makes Batman look stubborn, confrontational and haughty, giving Superman's warning some meaning due to the fact that Batman ignores and undermines it. Or maybe that's just the Batman fanboy in me and this whole thing is going to suck ass.

In response to the criticism surrounding Batman's voice - perhaps it was implemented as a voice disguiser to further hide his identity.

I actually like the look Cavill gives when Batman doesn't let him leave on the last word. Like he can't believe this guy isn't scared of him.
I do agree that after how long this movie's been in production, the material is oddly unimpressive. But they also have to know People are going to see it regardless, so hopefully there's a lot they are saving.
Jury's out til March. I'm still rooting for it, expectations in check.

"Kylo was stupid, Anakin was great." Hey whatever floats your boat man. There's a George Lucas petition waiting for your signature if you haven't done it already.

For the record, the Anakin thing was sarcasm, as evidenced by the moment I called him a "little *****." I just find it funny how Uncle George got tons of **** (deservedly so) for having a whiney little snot who was prone to temper tantrums in the spotlight throughout the PT, but JJ has...a whiney little snot prone to temper tantrums in the spotlight, and, suddenly, it's cool.:lol

I also think it's funny how much people excuse based on how much they're invested in something. When Man of Steel came out, there wasn't a peep about how "Clark's carelessness is just setting up his arc in future movies;" it was all "nah, that's just Goyer's ****** writing," but, with Ren, all I hear is "yeah, his rage is a little much, but it's just setting up his character arc to become a more focused and well trained Sith Lord."

See, I'm not sure I like Luthor, but it's one of those things where, like it or not, it's consistent with their vision of the character since day 1. Through promotional material and viral marketing and the articles about him and Lex/OS, we know he's going to be the new, millennial breed of Bilionaire, with the whole Silicon Valley thing going, and, as cringey as it might be....it's accurate. Have you ever seen how some of those guys act at all these TED talks and CES shows? Hell, watch an Apple press conference and they all have that condescending "if I act super-enthusiastic maybe they'll like me" schtick going.

I can hate the interpretation they're going for, but I can't really say that Eisenberg's out of touch with the material he's been given.

I guess that disqualified TFA on the basis of Kylo Ren, alone.:lol

Lol that and many other lame stuff.
"Hey Where havé you been?"
"Whooo dont bother, Say, my jacket looks good on yu"
The stupidity levels in TFA that are excused because the movie entertaining makes me no more wonder how Jurassic world and transformers are huge hits.

I guess that's one thing about the Warner Bros./DC villains, they've all been products of their time. That goes all the way back to the Gene Hackman Luthor from the 70s dabbling in Eentrepreneurship and real estate all in the name of land and profit.

You know who else was great and layered? Anakin Skywalker, but under all those layers of robes and clothing, he was nothing but a little *****...just like his grandson.:lol Vader was a badass, though.

There was nothing wrong with Anakin as a character. But he was badly written, badly cast and the badly acted.

Kylo was well written, well cast and very very well acted.

So far those are the qualities I'm missing in every clip from BVS.
