In 1989 I ate, slept and breathed everything that was 89 Batman. But the last few viewings of it, it seems to drag. A lot. A slow dry drag.

Bale Batman was so intense in 2005, demanding answers like he did in the rain, so bad ***!

The lead up to TDK was electrifying not unlike TFA.

BB home release was also exciting because it ushered in the high def tv revolution, was released HD-DVD first.

I only look upon Returns favorably now because in 92 that **** pissed me off. :lol

But it really is awesome now, what a crazy follow up to 89.

89 is just perfect, one for the ages, i'll never tire of watching that costume/car/batwing/music/sets/Keaton/Joker.

Batman Begins was also a bit like TFA in that I remember how surreal it was to get a truly great film after how the previous sequels turned out. B&R to BB was an even bigger jump in quality than ROTS to TFA. And the epic location shoots. That shot of Bruce hiking up toward the glacier. BB was like the LOTR of superhero films. :lol

I remember being annoyed at how well Nolan was able to use Liam Neeson in a "Qui Gon" type role compared to the material Neeson had to work with in TPM.

Batman Begins was really the first time I recall that a film took a series that had been ground into the dust and made it great again. Since then we've gotten Casino Royale, Rocky Balboa and now Fury Road and TFA. All those latter films really just pulled a "BB." Obviously Superman Returns wanted to be in that line-up but just wasn't up to par.

Is Forever your go to non-Nolan Batfilm then? You seem to have an enduring appreciation for it. It's silly as hell but I actually don't mind it myself.

I would say Forever and 89 Batman. Gives you a well rounded entertainment. I don't care for Returns and haven't seen BvR since theaters.

But I'd take BB and TDK over any of them.

But there are so many better actors, just because a guy is bald and white doesn't make him the perfect guy to play Lex Luthor.

Cranston is a very good actor who has proven that he can project menace.
The internet meme is as much wordplay on (H)eisenberg as it's a case for casting an actor that can convincingly seem lethal.
The more powerful a hero is, the more obsessively lethal the villain must be.
Eisenberg is as lethal as a wet fart.

Actually Bale was having a seizure.
Nolan talked him into doing OTT takes which would never be used, as a way to warm up.
And then used them in the final film.

Batman Begins might be the best Batman movie, but TDK is the best superhero movie by far in my opinion. I love my X-Men films but TDK blows them out of the water, and pretty much every other superhero movie ever.

TDK is the best superhero movie by far in my opinion.

The best superhero movie of 2008 was Iron Man.
It was fun, not dour. Like a superhero flick should be. :rock2

The first two No-Bats films are enjoyable, but they're more crime/thriller flicks than superhero movies.

And Nolan & Co. never got Batman's characterization done properly.

I mean--hey--the Dork Knight Retired.

Spider-Man 2 is the best superhero movie in my opinion. Every character is great and well acted, the story is perfect, it's an adaption of the best era of comics, the action and effects still hold up and it's a great blend of drama and comedy. The perfect tone.

The opening scene is the best opening scene for a superhero movie I think. It captures the essence of the character and is genuinely funny while still being a bummer for Parker.

As someone who liked all three films, I agree completely with the idea that they weren't totally superhero movies. If anything, they were more about the "man" than the "bat," as Batman seemed like some sort of radical form of therapy for both Bruce Wayne and Gotham, as opposed to some eternal guardian of the night.

How is it now a superhero movie? Does it need a ton of cgi and sarcastic humor to qualify as a superhero movie?

There's a guy in a ridiculous costume fighting crime and other people in ridiculous costumes :lol

Iron Man is easily the best MCU flick, but doesn't hold a candle to BB, TDK, or X2.

And I don't care about Batman in any other medium. The Nolan flicks are their own thing, it doesn't need to follow the comics to be considered great. Same goes for the Burton flicks.

I personally think Spider-Man 1 is the better movie. There's just some really crazy plot holes that feel forced to push the whole "with great power comes great responsibility" theme and outside of Toby and Jk Simmons, I don't know if anyone else actually gave a great performance.

I like the first one too, especially with the origin and Willem Dafoe. I prefer 2 though because of Doc Ock and the Spider-Man: No more plot.
