I really wasn't a fan of all the zooming in and out during the action scenes
Yeah, someone in the thread said Marvel action scenes looked to clean which made the CGI look fake, but when I see Battlestar Galactica Viper style camera action it takes me out of a scene.

Superman Returns did have a cool calming aesthetic to it.

Probably too much for its own good.

Shame only parts of that movie were in 3D which meant no 3D home release.

Shame because I would love to watch that plane rescue again in 3D.

Ultimately though both SR and MOS suck. :lol

You really want to watch Brandon Routh ugly suit in 3D? :lol

I don't get why SR sucks.

Had Heath Ledger watched Superman Returns, he would have never needed sleeping pills and he might still be alive today :lol

I don't get why SR sucks. But I know why MoS does.

Supes was too passive, didn't throw one punch.
The story was too slavish in its use of Donners opus, couldn't really find its own path.
Superman has a *******...no,no,no,no, a thousand times No!!!
Supermans desire to see Kryptons destruction for himself was paper thin.

But the movie did have some really good scenes and Routh did a great job with the material he was given.
Daily Planet Art Deco design was cool.
Saving the SpacePlane was awesome as was the crowd going wild when Superman appeared in the doorway.
Supes hovering over the earth in space serenely listening for trouble then hitting the sound barrier on reentry.
The reuse of Brando to better effect.
The end flyby in the clouds with Williams score.
Great stuff.

I'm avoiding spoilers, but I hold pturtle's opinion in high regard. I also believe Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Iron Man to be the best superhero movies (and I also agree about Iron Man's third act. Although, Batman Begins was a little iffy in that regard too. Not as bad as the rock 'em sock em robot fight that felt like a completely different film, but there were issues.)

I haven't read the spoilers so I'm still very excited! I also need to re-watch X2.

Out of these movies I would place them in this order:

TDK>BB>IM>X2.

TDK beats out BB simply because of that awesome interrogation scene, but BB did have the better choregraphed batmobile chase, action and costume.

That's a pretty good explanation. :lol

C'mon now that plane rescue was very thrilling......the only thrilling part. :lol

Perfect summation why, great job.

Superman got beat up by kumar. Nuff said.

Yeah, I forgot that scene and that's actually one of my biggest hates against the movie.
Its actually really disturbing the way that it was done.
They seemed to want to film it in away that not only shows him stripped of powers but of his manhood and courage as well.
It almost felt like it was headed towards "Deliverance" territory.
Its not just the powers that make Superman SUPERMAN.
Reeeeally loath that scene.

I agree with the story not fully working as a quasi-sequel to the Donner flicks and it did cause some problems but there were some awesome scenes that were supposed to be a contrast to some stuff that happened in the originals, such as the flying scene with Lois, to me I don't see how Superman was passive, Superman didn't throw a punch in the original film either, and I had no problem with him having a son while not being married.

My main problem with the movie is Lex Luthor, he served no purpose to the story and feels like he was only thrown in because the movie needed a villain, when it actually didn't. The movie was a character study of Superman and Singer should have gone all in with that concept, though I can see people hating even more for that. Instead he threw in Lex and gave him another ridiculous get rich take over the world scheme that just didn't fit in with the rest of what was going on.

Regarding Sup's son, I honestly would have preferred if the story told us he was incapable of having children with Lois since he was an alien, and the stalking scenes (love that scene by the way) would have been a bit more heartbreaking because he would have actually been looking at her having a life he was incapable of having. I get why Singer made him his son though, and since SR ended up being a one off, it felt like a nice ending for the Donner films with Superman being there to help guide his son in a world he might not feel he fully belonged in, something his father couldn't be there to do for him.

Really?? So in the theater it was all "Freddy's Dead" where you put on and take off the glasses while watching the movie? :lol

White Men Cant Jump is a classic, and Rosie Perez is the best, one of my favorite movies of all time.

I've always been more of a movie buff

Very good deconstruction of it and you're making me want to revist it BUT I absolutely hated him having a son!

**** that, i'm not watching it!

Yup, it was crazy.

The 3D icon would flash on the corner of the Imax screen! :lol

Oh man, I'm the only one here that loves White Men Can't Jump?

Nevertheless, if we're bringing up taste in film, I think you've spent this entire summer defending 2 star brain fart action films :lol

Still respect you opinion though.

What did I "defend?" :)

Age of Ultron, and the latest Terminator are the main two that left me scratching my head :lol

It's been awhile since I've seen it. I loved the movie like 2 decades ago but I've grown up a lot since then. And I realize how silly that sounds as person who gets in nerd fights about men who wear tights[emoji6]

Okay, I wasn't sure which you meant, for all I know you hated Fury Road. :lol

Lets set a couple things straight:

1. I was really just teasing you about White Men Can't Jump because, well, since F4 I really can't pass up any opportunity to rip on your movie tastes. :D

2. I like a lot dumb movies. I even enjoy the monstrosity that is Batman & Robin. Just that we live in a reality where that movie even exists is hilarious to me.

BUT...I'm not gonna call Genisys "A classic, Jai Courtney is the BEST!" like you did with White Men and Rosie Perez. :lol In other words I liked Genisys in spite of its flaws but I sure as heck won't call it a classic or die defending it.

Nope, I like like it too. :hi5: It's really dated...in a good way.

Haven't seen it in a while, but I remember dying laughing in that one scene when that guy went to rob the grocery store, and the store owner knew him, he ended up selling the gun to the owner instead for the money and get ripped off, then his line was something like, "Ight man, but now you robbing me" :lol
