He's Superman. He's here to help. I found it interesting that this film owns up to all of the destruction that happened at the end of Man of steel. One of the arguments from MOS fans was "how do you know anyone died? The buildings could have been evacuated." The monument to all the dead proved them wrong. man of Steel had a lot of casualties.

I feel like he did change significantly between both films and I don't understand why he is still getting so much hate. He's visibly anguished over the fact that he missed Wally's bomb at the senate hearing, he goes to great lengths to help whoever he can, almost at the cost of his job and his relationship, dropping things at a moment's notice to save a girl in a burning building in a totally different country.

The one that immediately comes to mind for me is Luthor. Even after everything he's done, between Africa and the hearing and Martha and Lois; he still saves him when Doomsday goes after him. This guy killed hundreds of people, almost murdered his mother and the woman he loves, and unleashes a monster that killed thousands more, yet, when that same beast was about to murder its creator, he saved the biggest monster of them all.

I'm sure I'll get the usual cynical responses about Superman "only killing civilians" or something, but I truly believe that, by the time we reached his death, it felt earned, which is something I didn't expect to be able to say.
I agree that Superman was better in this movie than in MOS. Hard to fault much of what he does in this movie as Superman (though he's still not nearly as conscientious and devoted to his duty as the Samaritan was, since he's spending so much time lounging around with Lois, going into hiding, debating his role while wandering around Antarctica, etc.--though for dramatic purposes all that stuff worked pretty well IMO). But I really didn't fault the character so much in MOS (though he had some issues) as I did the situations they unnecessarily put that character in. Superman shouldn't be getting bizarre lectures from his father about letting kids die, he shouldn't be living in a washed out, dreary world, and he should have to kill a guy to save lives.

Yes Affleck was great as Batman- however I felt strangely enough very very drawn to the Superman parts of the story and emotionally he had more impact on me than Batman, not because what happened to him but his stae of existance and place in the world struggles he ultimately had to face.

he is not so sad anymore

He never was sad. He was flat exhausted. They all were, having been to either full day junket events or premieres in L.A., Mexico City, NYC and London in 4 successive days and only sleeping on airplanes. While kinda funny, that "Sad Affleck" video doesn't know what the **** is actually happening. It's so... Internet. :lol

Superman wants to help, but the world hates him for what he didn't do, theres a crazy mad scientist dude out to kill him, and even his mom tells him to just walk away. It's tough being Superman. The only one who was in his corner no matter what was Lois.

i heard someone say zack is taking it really hard now? I know you said he wasn't taking the hate serious but is he still ok?

He is fine I'm sure after seeing the box office numbers....he's used to mixed reviews to say the least...

Yeah, he's fine. I was actually a little worried myself (because of the sheer amount of savagery directed toward him personally), but he's good.

Bruce /Batman emotional tie was the opening sequence then on par with the movie it switched gears focusing on Clark / Superman while not adding much to the emotional depth it started with Bruce. It at least (for me) got the emotional attachment to Clark that was missing from MoS. While I still feel Cavill is missing the home run punch for Superman, he was serviceable in the film and during certain pieces I felt the emotional pull for him the movie wanted so win. For whatever reason, I really enjoyed the Capital piece it really struck the struggles he was facing.

Sweet. He's a brilliant guy. Excited about the JL script because it was his from Day 1.

Yeah, I didn't know him well but I remember he was extremely smart. I google-image searched last night and he looks exactly the same. Not surprised to see he was a Harvard grad.

Now I know 2 screenwriters from Staten Island. Where did I go wrong? :slap :lol

I admit that it feels out-of-place and could easily be left out of the movie (and understand why some don't like it) but I really like the Pa Kent vision scene on the mountain, mainly because Kevin Costner is so awesome there.

So DiFabio and Faraci are on the same page?!

Nothing against the performances or even its intended purpose....it was just random felt unnecessary.

Here I am walking in the mountains then boom Pa Kent (who is deceased) is piling rocks...actually funny when I think of it that way.

I looked at it as his spiritual Fortress of Solitude.

When Superman told Lois that his homeworld was gone on her balcony that felt pretty damn poignant.
