Gonna check this out myself over the weekend....

So....does this guy figure into it any more than being in a body bag? Flashbacks maybe? Really liked him in MOS....

Really like the figure too...

A question... Other then being NUTS. What was Luthor's motivation in this film? Was it just that Superman was an all powerful alien? So were his motivations the same as Batman's?

Don't remember or did they ever explain?

It's never outright explained, but you get glimpses of it as the plot progresses. There's no general consensus or a majority-accepted "head-canon", but most just say that this is still classic vain, Ubersmench-esque Luthor who believes that humanity should not depend on Foreign Saviors, yet is jealous of Superman. He's just a bit of twitchy ******* as well, so this gets lost amongst his "quirks".

Personally, based on the end of the film, I have a different theory. He's suffering from manipulation at the hands of someone from Apokolips, possibly Desaad. He talks about threats beyond the stars, and it's evident there's something wrong with him. Couple that with Bruce's visions, and my guess is, someone's either trying to warn them (maybe someone from New Genesis) or someone's trying to manipulate them (someone from Apokolips) in order to clash and leave the earth defenseless.

Basically, he's a megalomaniac with a god complex, and Superman is outshining him.
Luthor sees himself as the pinnacle of human existence: rich, famous, full of knowledge. But when compared to Superman, he feels powerless, and that triggers all his hidden feelings of inadequacy and insecurities from years of abuse at the hands of his father.

I agree!!

I think DC's great fear, which they've been frantically trying to steer away from, of losing an entire generation to Marvel is much closer to becoming a reality after the BvS-DoJ train wreck. But I think Suicide Squad will be a much more focused film and will be better received which will help right the ship somewhat. But overall WB has a potentially multibillion dollar problem.

How does Batman's cowl work?

In the Mad Max sequence Superman rips his mask off and it looks like rubber. But then later during the warehouse scene Batman gets capped in the head 3 or 4 times before yelling and running that knife through the guy's chest. This Batman ate bullets like it was nothing.

Well, considering Knightmare Batman's living in the Apocalypse, maybe such advanced tech is scarce, so he has to make do with a basic cowl. In present-day, he's got all the cool toys, so maybe he was somce sort of exoskeleton/microweave underneath the rubber and on-top of his head... Or they got lazy with that scene and it doesn't add up.

I think people are getting carried away with Injustice. There, Superman, after having his wife and child murdered (by his own hands), goes all "ORDER!" in the world. He doesn't destroy it, or turn it into a wasteland. The world keeps on spinning and everything remains relatively "normal". Heck, even some heroes join him in his quest for peace through extreme order and laws. What we saw in the Knightmare sequences was a wasteland that signaled a dead world. I hardly got an Injustice feel, truth be told. More like a "Superman gone Rogue" thing...

Your mistake here is thinking that they're going full "injustice". They're not. During the Apocalypse scene, you see Batman looking over a wasteland with a huge OMEGA SYMBOL burned into the ground. And also consider the ending of BVS and the fact that Darkseid's Omega beams have the power to both bring back the dead and control minds. And then consider Darkseid has controlled Superman's mind in the comics before along with multiple other heroes including SuperGirl. Then you have Batman's comment at the funeral and then Lex at the end. This is setting up to be one amazing f'n Justice League film. It's a shame more critics and regular movie goers weren't comic book readers like you and me, because only people like us picked up on this stuff.

But if I remember correctly, Snyder said he's a comic book guy, and he made this movie for people like us. So I want to shake the guy's hand. What an f'n great job. I feel spoiled. Lol.

Did you notice how the Knightmare costume is inspired by the Bats suit that Damien Wayne wears in Batman #666 "Armageddon" story. That's one of the main reasons I want the HT figure from BVS. Can't wait!

Especially if Civil War is received so well, now that Marvel's "Batman" (in popularity and importance), Spider-Man, will be included to the massive money train. At the end of the day, Suicide Squad will surely be better but I don't think there's any way DC walks out of this year licking it's wounds.

My theory is that we're goin to get a Nu52 Earth 2 type of story. Maybe, JL 1&2 deal with the Invasion of Apokolips, which will leave the world in a bad-shape, but still hold off Darkseid until JL 2 or 3. I really enjoyed the whole thing in Earth 2 where they had the Pits and the like and you could feel that this world was unstable and dangerous. I wouldn't mind seeing something like that.

Yeah, I noticed that as well, but I don't think it amounts to much. Might be a cool nod to the book, but I'm seeing any connection or something story-related that I should pick up.

He plays a bit more of a role than that. But to find out more, you'll have to see the movie!

How hard is he taking it, Zack is going shopping today with the bonus WB gave him for directing a money making movie.

I have 6 hours to go....
Yeah. I know, criticism hurts anybody, be it a world famous musician, President of the United States, Brad Pitt, etc. But like I said before, lots of us have to face criticism in our professional lives. I would switch places with the guy getting a multi-million dollar paycheck with 70% of movie critics ripping into him in a second. Having said that, I would also cash in after the first big paycheck and move onto something where I would only be around yes-men and sychophants.

It's tough being Superman.
Even Rhodey agrees.

I'm sure Faraci's page is made of very rare stationary. Much more sophisticated than Difab's marble notebook.
Most fun guy to read in this thread award goes to 12BarBlues *Chuck Norris thumbs up*

Yeah I don't think him wearing the costume related to anything happening in Batman 666, it was just awesome to see that they used a lot of source material.

I really like the idea though of Darkseid bringing Superman back from the dead to wreak havoc in the Justice League movie. I hope this is the way they go. Batman kept getting the visions and then you have Flash telling him that he was right all along in that dream sequence...I'm so excited! Man this movie was the bees knees! Lol.

What the...I don't know what to say.

:lol:lol:lol

Hey, speaking of Alexander Luthor and I want your opinions please.

Given Mcu villain syndrome, can we not deny the fact that Lex in its own right despite his flaws everyone gracefully pointed out, actually reflected totally what a villains conviction's should be? Everyone crucifies Marvels villains for being to soft, but we cannot deny the notion that he actually did and stirred the pot too dammed good.

I agree. I think Lex is far better than a lot of (maybe even all) MCU villains.

@ JAWS :hi5: (I enjoyed the trinity fight better 2nd time around so we're pretty damn cloned on this one!)

I'm just going to come out and say it, that piss jar scene is hands down one of the best plans I have seen done by a villain in any modern superhero comic book movie. The senator started with her rough and tumble persona by saying that she has wrestled pigs on a farm and 1 minute later she was paralyzed in fear knowing something bad was about to happen AND not even the GOD standing 15 feet across from her could do anything about it!

That's a spider on your steering wheel while you're driving level of fear!

C'mon, that's some good villain **** right there!

Honestly, I think it was a mistake signaling his rise. How awesome would it be for us to get introduced to this:

Only to find out that in reality, it's this:

Much as I hated him as Luthor, he was an enjoyable villain, I'll admit. As far as the MCU goes, most of their villains don't have any character BUT, the MCU contains the Kingpin, Alexander Pierce, Loki and Kilgrave, all of whom I'm putting above Lex. But he surely surpasses the rest.
