Yeah! The real crime is that The Witch was not #1 at the box office for 3 weeks... Lord knows you, me, Khev, bboy, and others here tried

I have mentioned this already but I know a die hard Superman fan who refuses to go see BvS because of the RT score AND they enjoyed MOS!![]()
That deserves two![]()

Word of mouth can save a film as well as kill it in the following weeks. If this film was great then word of mouth would have got to those who decided not to go and they would have gone in week two or three. If it was great repeat viewing would help it's box office. But the film has really slid in two weeks. I don't care what critic reviews say... Obviously this film has turned a lot of people off so word of mouth and repeat viewings are not there.
Either the film is not considered that great by the general public or Batman and Superman are not as popular as everyone thinks they are.
TFA was almost critic proof. It had a huge pent up crowd desire to see the old heroes(well we thought they would be in it more other than Ford) and nostalgia factor. It was a one of a kind experience in timing, etc..
BvS featured heroes we all love but I'm thinking MOS carry over hurt it as well. MOS wasn't the huge smash that people were waiting for a "sequel" for
I am so with you and Franpincho on this. I knew just about everything ahead of time that would bother me and I still didn't like the movie. My experience of BvS was "oh that looks cool", "damn that was dumb", " this is epic "," this is stupid", "that was clever"," why didn't he just", "omigod they're ripping off Wrath of Khan now, WTF?"Was going to respond but this Franpincho said what I was thinking.
I liked the film... I didn't love it but I liked it. My friend liked it but my wife and my 10 year old son did not. My seven year old liked it OK but I think it was a little too long for him. Another friend of mine who is a huge Superman fan hated it.. I mean it sort of depressed him for 2 weeks we was so disappointed.
So yeah.. This film being loved or hated has nothing to do with the critics.
This film is a perfect example of one that should be critic proof. It's box office reminds me of the New Godzilla film... Everyone wanted to see it because of the brand name. But the final product was only OK. So word of mouth is not great and repeat viewings is not as high as it should be.
This film should have been in the top spot for weeks until Civil War came out. I mean there is little to no competition. But the final product did not justify it.
Like I said I liked it. But I think it could have been so much better.
If anything the bad reviews helped me enjoy it more because my expectations were really low after all that. But to act like the critics are paid off or just MU fanboys is disingenuous. You don't have to agree with them but you should be able to read a well thought out review and see were someone might be coming from. I think many of the complaints leveled at this film are legit and I can easily see why someone would give this a bad review. It's not critic proof because it's got problems.
This thread is even funnier to read while on a plane heading to London with a ticket paid for by Warner Brothers.
I should inform them that it's all doom and gloom. Because Internet goobers say so! No, wait... I'll wait until after I fly back so I won't have to pay for my return flight. Zack and the cast can join me in Coach. What a disaster.![]()

For MOS haters like myself I was actually curious to see how Superman would be handled in BvS.
The crazy part is that he actually went backwards and got more grumpy and confused YET I found the movie to be more entertaining than MOS.
Nothing in my head makes any kind of sense.![]()

Movies like The Witch and Ex Machina I'm perfectly fine with being in the hyper-exclusive "cool club" that saw and appreciated them in the theater.![]()
Hehe your plane ride is reducing profits further!![]()
I agree. Word of mouth should have a much bigger effect than reviews.
Online reviews will merely inflate or deflate the initial hype. That BvS opened to such big numbers is evidence in my opinion that the reviews did not impact it as badly as some may think. The big drop-off the following weeks points to a lack of repeat viewers and a lack of good word of mouth.

I am!I even ordered two Gin & Tonics, which I plan to expense. There goes the $ from Clown Prince of Crime's BvS ticket.

Just some perspective. Of course WB would've liked the film to be a bigger smash hit. To think otherwise is silly. However, this talk of "failure" and "disaster" is mere histrionics and posturing by certain folks online, including in this thread. Some may WANT that to be true, but it's simply not the case. WB is happy enough.
And one thing is certain, if they were really concerned about dollars I wouldn't be here right now. I'm as expendable as it gets.![]()
