Have batman go online and log in on sideshow freaks and fight with everyone there.

Pure meta, so meta

yeah that would be cool- Batman destroys a server in Gotham and last thing you see is a SSF logo on the moniter!

All I cared about when watching Batman v Superman was:

1. Did it have an awesome Batman vs Superman fight? Yes.

2. Was Wonder Woman awesome? Yes.

3. Was Affleck's Batman cool? Hell yes.

4. Was I bored or annoyed with the rest? Nope.

So regardless of how messy or odd certain elements were the movie checked all the necessary boxes for me. It's a stylistic popcorn movie about guys in tights punching each other. It didn't need to solve all of my life's problems or heal my broken soul so rock piles and email attachments and a hamfisted funeral sequence are good for a chuckle and nothing to get worked up about.

Is it gravy and nerdtastic when a movie covers all bases like Civil War? Heck yeah. But still, it's all just an excuse to see guys and gals in fancy colors punching and zapping one another.

1. Did it have an awesome Batman vs Superman fight? I liked it but really thought it would be better in some way

2. Was Wonder Woman awesome? Yes. She was the only "fun" part of the film

3. Was Affleck's Batman cool? Hell yes and hell yeah

4. Was I bored or annoyed with the rest? Not really bored with the first viewing but I recognized it was a mess and might not stand up well to repeat viewings.. I was actually bored by the end battle accept for WW scenes.

I said this in the other thread but I liked BvS pretty good the first time and gave it a 7 out of 10... I dropped it to a 6 out of 10 with my second viewing. Then I saw Civil War and I got very frustrated with BvS because IMO they should have been able to at least almost equal the entertainment that CW was. It made me realize just how wrong they got most of the film and as much as I like Ben as Bats I have to agree with the Preacher review a few pages back.. Bats only goal in the film was too kill someone.. It really did not feel like a BvS movie and I think that is my biggest complaint. Watching most of the Marvel films I feel like I am picking up and reading one of the comics. The Spirit is there. BvS lacks the spirit of the DC comics... At least the ones I have read.. Granted I have read way more Marvel and I am not saying they are perfect but I feel they get the characters right and do right by them. A Superman that does not know if he wants to be a hero with parents who give him awful advice for two films and a Batman who just wants to kill someone really is not true to the characters. We don't have to discuss Lex.

Anyways I am sure it will be a film I revisit from time to time.. Perhaps the R rated film will be a better entertainment... But I still fear that the spirit of the DC Universe will still be missing.

I am not trying to make this about Marvel vs DC.. I love Batman comics and the original Superman film is one of my favs and I enjoy Superman when he shows up in the Batman comics. I just really found this film to be a huge misfire and I find the shake up at WB to be wonderful news.

I pretty much agree with all of that except I try not to let my appreciation of Civil War cause BvS to suffer by comparison. As I've said before Superman and Batman (and Wonder Woman) have always been cinematic characters to me first and foremost so I don't have specific versions of these characters from the comics that I want "done right." Just a new take on Donner, Burton, and/or the Lynda Carter TV show are fine with me and while this Superman is definitely less cool than Reeve and not even close to Evans Cap I'm okay with just going along with the notion that this is a messed up and troubled alien who's trying to reconcile the bad advice given to him by his suicidal/"eff 'em all" parents with his raging lust for Earth women.

EDIT:
I have to agree with the Preacher review a few pages back.. Bats only goal in the film was too kill someone..

Okay because you mentioned it I went back and watched "Father Mike's" review. Wow. He really hit the nail on the head as to why Evans Cap is so appealing and that while I thought BvS was "kewl" and enjoyable as a person who often likes antihero movies it helps me to realize why I just didn't feel compelled to take my kids to it. BvS Supes and Bats just aren't the kind of "good guys" that I wanted to define these characters for them. Definite missed opportunity. You could have had the exact same gritty, grounded, harsh world with Luthors and Doomsdays running around but with these guys truly being heroes in stark contrast to the world around them.

As alluded to in the dialogue, he'd become more aggressive in recent times, probably since the death of Robin and the events of MoS. This could probably have been spelt out better - when the Bats solo film is made it will hopefully give BvS more context in that regard.

Indeed, BvS could have benefited from both a Bats solo film and another solo Supes movie. But I guess DC wanted the Justice League to assemble quickly before audiences got superhero fatigue.

As for Supes being "too dark", I guess it was inevitable when you have a film based on The Dark Knight Returns and Death of Superman.

They really believe Geoff Johns is going to fix this , was he not involved in the Green Lantern Movie, all this because the movie was choppy in the beginning they just need to get the script to be better focused instead of this crap please don't tell me they are going to reboot this movie universe like they are with with the comics. Geoff Johns has done some great comic runs but he did work on the green lantern movie and that was worse then superman returns so I am not sure what they are expecting out of him

DC just needs to hire some better writers and artist for their comics and movies what marvel movies does is nothing exceptional they just don't take risks its a formula that they repeat simple .

DC need to maximize the characters at present none of the characters have any sequels, if Captain America and Iron Man can appear in 4 and 5 movies respectively and are scheduled to appear in a further two moves how can they bring out superman and batman for 1 solo movie and the only other appearance are in justice league. It's a waste of potential I am hoping that since Braniac has yet to make an appearance he makes his debut in a superman movie

Yeah the Father Mike review really hot home and summed up how I was feeling but could not pin point it and put it into words.

Like I said its just not the spirit of the characters I know and love... I accept that it is a different take... I just am not crazy about the take they chose.

For me it had nothing to do with the darkness of the story. It was how the characters themselves were handled. Yeah perhaps Bats had become more aggressive but this was our first introduction to this version of the character and basically he just wanted to kill someone..

Not to compare again but CW was cool because I found myself agreeing with both sides at different times in the film. I was team Cap but I could see where start was coming from and at times I was even on his side. Not so with BvS... Looking back at the film the only reason I was in Batman's corner at all was because he was Batman. I mean I get where he was coming from but they really did just make him a psychopathic killer and a douche. I still liked him (you know because he is Batman) but at no time did I find myself in his corner because he was really not much of a hero in this film until A.M. (after Martha) :)

And with DC in such a rush to catch up with Marvel they sure were not in a rush with superman's character. I had to watch MOS and see him listen to poor parental advice and to see if he understood his place in the world... Only to get to BvS and still watch him still try and find his place in the world, listen to more poor (selfish) parental advice, and then DC decided to rush it again and kill him.

Anyways these are all afterthoughts of frustration. I had said issues with the film upon first viewing but gave much of it a pass because the film did not completely suck. Time has not been kind. I am hoping that the R rated cut ends up like the Director's cut of Ridley Scott's "Kingdom of Heaven" and becomes a great film.. But due to how characters were handled I highly doubt it :(

you guys thought I posted the Father Mike review as a joke or something but he did nail it, and it was kind of bizarre to see someone that follows Jesus Closely to be so disappointed by it, The first time I saw the review I thought he was going to say he loved Superman :lol

People were bummed that GL wouldn't be in JL, right? Well, I hope they love GL, cause with Johns at the helm, we're about to get 200% more Hal Jordan... in everything... As far as Geoff is concerned, Hal Jordan is love, Hal Jordan is life... Well, Hal, and his OC Lanterns...

You can guarantee that Johns is going to pay special attention to Green Lantern. That's his baby... and he deserves the praise. Not only bringing back Hal Jordan, but following it up with some SOLID story-telling with the Sinestro Corps, War of the Lanterns, Blackest Night, etc. He really expanded the GL mythos and made them relevant and 'cool' again. I don't know how the comics are doing now since I stopped collecting around Blackest Night, but I really enjoyed his work on Green Lantern.

This thread is deja vu all over again. Is it still March? :lol

Hmmmmmmm. Should we just let the thread slowly die? What else would you rather see here? You keep coming back. This is a discussion forum not a "Let praise a film blindly" forum. Of course being a discussion forum you are more then welcome to do that.

I watched as soon as you posted. I knew it was no joke review. I was shocked by how much I agreed with him.

Where are you getting "Let's praise the film blindly"? Certainly not from here.

But, yeah, if the choice is between the same exact comments and debates 17.000 times or letting the thread die, I'd vote for the latter.

That said, I'm still just here to add any facts and anecdotal information whenever I can. Debating and discussing the actual movie became tedious for me a long time ago.
