Anyway, it's not "for me", it's why it works, period. And, it's not others """not getting it""", they really don't get it, really :lol and I haven't seen anything that hints at the opposite, in fact it's hilarious how resistant people are to the fact that Snyder of all people made something the flew over their heads :lol

Sure it can be silly, and I love the memes, Martha and Hail Hydra have been the best comic memes this year.

I don't think anything flew over anyone's head... except maybe for people not seeing that both characters had a mother with the same name. But even something like not realizing that connection until that moment, it doesn't make the scene clever or good ..or surprising that Snyder "did it" either :dunno

No no, the fact that people scratch their heads about the Martha thing is just the tip of the iceberg.

But yeah, even with that little bit, people pretty much missed the obvious :lol

I don't know, I think the Martha thing is pretty genious...I mean even infant Kal looked like Bruce Wayne..

No, that stuff doesn't do anything to explain any of that, like I said you can find those explanations in regular discussion boards, although why it's necessary it's a real mystery to me to this day. None of this is forbidden hidden Illuminati knowledge or anything, you can find most of it if you chain read related articles, I just compiled a ton of it, I'm just shocked at the amount of people on the other side :lol

I don't utterly love the movie, I'm very ambivalent towards a lot of its artistic liberties with these properties, however I can't in good faith say that this movie isn't anything short of a masterpiece, let alone that it's a poorly made one in any way.

You won't judge? I'm the one judging here :lol scrolling and judging every day. :lecture

How do you feel about Revolutions?

I don't think you do, you don't even know, do you? :lol Why does it work for me? .

I feel you man, I do the same thing in the Metal Gear threads all the time :lol

I think Revolutions is probably the best 3rd movie in a trilogy. I can't think of any other film that ends a series the way that it did, it has absolutely no fan service which is what most 3rd movies tend to consist of, it's absolutely unpredictable, and really pretty much wraps up the series perfectly even though it's not how most people wanted it to end. I love reading people explain why Revolutions is a bad movie, almost every time I see someone try, they fail miserably :lol

Revolutions does have 2 big problems for me though that hold it back from being on the same level as the first 2 movies.

With Batman v Superman, I'll admit, I just can't see how it's a good movie, let alone a masterpiece. There's just so many problems problems I see in it that other superhero movies suffer from. The only way I can see it is if there's some hidden subtexts and underlying themes the movie is riddled with then sort of like MGS2 or something, because if you take MGS2's story at face value, it's pretty terrible, but after reading about all the hidden context, that game became genius :lol

No, it's the deeper meaning for the redemption of Bruce Wayne that makes it great: "Martha won't die tonight." It's the one thing that can stop him killing Clark, and put an end to his own demons.

You said people are resistant about not seeing the obvious because of Snyde made something go over their heads...but how can they be resistant to begin with if they're not even aware of what it was? :dunno

I'm long overdue rewatching that trilogy again, I agree with you, in fact, I think it was the only way it should've ended.

I would put BvS right there with Matrix in terms of how deeply people have misunderstood it or underappreciated it, I can't wait to see how Terrio and Snyder wrap it up in JL since I doubt they'll be getting any more chances.

Jesus Christ :lol

Yes, I think most people got that too from the scene...it was even mentioned in several reviews too :) However, I don't think even if they see things like Bruce seeing Clark as a human and not an alien or Bruce being able to metaphorically save his mother it makes the Martha scene work for people.

Maybe not, but it worked for me (and Jye) at least. : )

Also if he's no longer driven to fight common thugs it frees him to focus on intergalactic threats with the JL.

That's one of the things it makes Batpunisher so well grounded for me, to see Gotham being such a ****hole, after 20 years of his best efforts no less, Batman must feel like a complete and utter failure, which brings the thought that Batman one day went, "this place is worse than ever, this isn't working, **** this" (obviously with a little push from a death in the family).

So seeing Batman mow down mercenaries and war criminals is so satisfying, because you know he's past the point where he knows those people aren't rehabilitating, these people have their own moral compass, they know full and well what they're doing, so it isn't worth it and he doesn't care.

But, I'm expecting Batman to be more driven than probably ever, I think he's still gonna pursue the best for Gotham, while trying to defend the Earth at the same time :lol

Quite possibly. In any event I'm pumped for the Affleck Batflick.

I might be in the minority in ranking BvS over CW, but I can't imagine having these type of in-depth discussions about CW.

Yup, this is one of the reasons why I really like this version of Batman. I said it before but Batman not killing in the comics/cartoons is absolutely ridiculous, it just doesn't make sense.

That no killing rule seems to only exist to make his relationship with the Joker work, that's the only real incentive I can see for the writers having maintain that rule, and of course to inspire the kiddies.

Now that is a debate that has already drawn blood but it was CW v XMA, not BvS. :lol

CW is an excellent visceral superhero team up movie where the earth shattering industry defining action makes your jaw hit the ground running.

BvS trys to be that but honestly it can't match it, the 2 gods and the human ninja are simply not physically given enough to do.

Therefore BvS tries to raise itself into a higher intellectual level than CW and many would argue here and at RT that it fell flat on its face in its attempt at serious sophisticated drama.

Me personally, i'm ok with the movie.

It's not the action beast that TWS and CW are BUT it has my favorite villain moment of any cbm, the Luthor/Senator jar of urine scene.

I loved Finding Zemo but Luthor's piss takes the cake.

So in that regard, yeah...BvS delivered some decent in-depth moments for me.

FU Deadpool.

I love the no killing rule, it works for a classic Batman.

But murderbats also works here, because Terrio and Snyder sold it well imo. This Batman took a step in the wrong direction and fell off a cliff.

That's one of the things I'm ambivalent about, not that scene, that scene is perfect.

But Eisenberg himself. I can't fault him, because his performance for the character that was written for him is perfectly delivered, and he's an excellent villain.

BUT, I can't help but to think, had they gone with Joaquin Phoenix, bald, and a classic approach to Luthor, he would have been the absolute perfect Luthor in every sense of the character, piss jar, witch writing and all, and that, drives me crazy.

The dialogue, the psyche, everything about this character is 100% Luthor, except Eisenberg.

I agree that the no killing "rule" benefits the Joker relationship, but you really don't think Batman should have some sort of moral compass?

There's a difference between accidentally or indirectly killing someone while trying to do the right thing knowing that taking a life is not right, and killing people carelessly because you just don't care anymore.

That careless Batman can work briefly if he changes eventually and if that's the character arc they're going with, but it doesn't work as the standard Batman, imo. Because, killing is wrong and a crime, and that's something Gordon can't ignore. Not to mention, I don't think Bruce wants to cross the very line the people he hates cross carelessly

Really, I liked that little squirmy creepy *******.

I liked his Silicon Valley evil while playing basketball scene. :lol
