Just the fact that geeks didn't put together the Martha angle before Snyder made it important makes BvS a winner.

If we're going by geek association logic then BvS failed because Clark didn't fall in love with Lex Luthor. I mean Lana Lang, Lois Lane, it was right there for the taking and Snyder missed it.:wink1:

No denying the fact that the extended at the very least flows better, like a Joker ************* now.

WB dropped the ball, they should've sucked it up and released the 3 hour cut of the movie.

The theatrical damage was done already, the extended was never going to change minds.

But had the extended been the 1st version watched I think the movie wouldn't have suffered the critical backlash that it did.

Actually, WB signed their own death certificate as soon as they delayed the movie, it immediately screamed no confidence and then it went downhill from there.

They dropped the ball with the delay.
They dropped the ball with Doomsday's design.
They dropped the ball with the trailer giving away too much.
They dropped the ball with releasing the poorly edited version.
Hell, I even think they dropped the ball calling it BvS.

Yet I still enjoy the heck out of it.

Naaah I don't believe it would have changed a thing.

That score was set in stone weeks before the movie was released.

Yo Gasper I think you might need to send me those links explaining the genius behind this movie because after watching the extended edition I think I like it even less. It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, but considering the the hype behind the movie I understand some opinions coming off as exaggerated.

I'm still annoyed with people acting like no one on the planet has ever realized Superman and Batman's mothers share the name Martha until this film. They've had the same name since they were created decades ago. Anyone that knows the origin stories of the characters knows they are both named Martha. It's not the "Oh, ****" moment people are making it out to be and was a horrible reason for Superman and Batman to all of a sudden be best buds.

The secret identity of the WB has finally been revealed.

If you're looking for something that "explains" stuff like Luthor's plans, motivations, Martha, etc etc, those links won't do you any good, that stuff assumes you understand all, which a lot is perceived by people as script problems (which aren't) and discusses further subtleties, themes, details, etc that flew over the head of the vast majority of people who thought they figured out the movie because they caught some in-your-face religious images.

You can find threads and people that explain stuff like motivations online if you really can't figure it out, but honestly, I gave up on people understanding the movie around the time when Prince had so much trouble understanding why Supes shouldn't have said "save my mom" instead of "save Martha", without me spoon feeding the answer, which I didn't (no offense Prince, not baiting or trying to start anything). So I just stopped.

Because I'm pretty sure people will go "uuuh I totally saw that, yeah no dude, I totally thought of that, but eeer, it still s-sucks, because Hack Snyder"... So if people have such a hard time getting what I thought were pretty simple and straight forward plot stuff like that, then I'd rather not share the pearls, I respect the movie too much to do that.

PS: Not to be confused with: no likey no share.

Sure it's in the back of the head of any Supes/Bats fan, yet nobody ever made anything out of it, not even a gag. Until "oh look".

was a horrible reason for Superman and Batman to all of a sudden be best buds.
nope.

I can think of a couple of reasons why he didn't say ''my mom'' - but it still comes across as a bit weird him calling her by her name which in turn made it seem contrived.

Because it doesn't ****ing matter.

IMO, yep. Batman was ready to kill Superman because of what he might become or might do. Having a mother named Martha doesn't change anything in that regard. What, because Superman's mother is named Martha too he couldn't lose control? Batman's motivation was **** in this film. Hearing "Martha" pulled him back from the murderous edge he was on and negates all the feelings and rationalizations he made for the entire film? ********. Batman the great detective and disciplined hero can't figure out he's being manipulated by Luthor? Not on Luthor's best day--especially this horrible version of Luthor who is as subtle as a sledgehammer.

It makes sense to you though so we'll have to agree to disagree.

You gave up because of me?
I'm offended..; _ ; and some how proud at the same time :lol

Oh and it's not spoon feeding when a film explains a character's motivations, as opposed to he's Lex Luthor so he hates Sups and sees him as a threat. :lol

Having him say save "my mom" is illogical, not to say retarded.

Jesus Christ. You've got to be kidding me. They've had the same name forever.
And yet, nobody noticed.

Yup, just on this topic though, I can still fight you over Predator stuff :lol

The film explains it just fine, if you pay attention, I was the one who was about to spoon feed when I decided to post that Earl Sinclair pic instead in the middle of me typing the answer. :lol

As opposed to saying a name that could mean absolutely nothing to Bruce? It's not like Clark knew Bruce's mother was also named Martha...that would make more sense. He's about to die and he knows Bruce's identity, so there's no logical reason for Sups to worry about his "secret" identity. If you were in that same situation, you'd say, "Luthor has my mother"...not, ma..ma...martha!'

And yet, nobody noticed.

You didn't notice. That doesn't mean everyone didn't notice. Fans of the characters know their mothers have the same name. Like I said, it doesn't matter except for this film's ridiculous premise that it does, which is just one of the many things wrong with the film. You're a fan of what they did. I'm not. Both opinions are fine, but don't act like the people that don't like the film somehow aren't "getting it". Most of us are really big fans that were left utterly disappointed by poor writing and bad characterization.

I wouldn't call it either of those things to be honest. But as I said I can think of reasons why they didn't have him say it.
No it is, it's pretty retarded when you consider that situation and previous ones.

As opposed to saying a name that could mean absolutely nothing to Bruce? It's not like Clark knew Bruce's mother wad also named Martha...that would make more sense.
Yep, still very far... :lol

It's ok, you don't get it.
