Yep, still very far... :lol
.

Only in your mind is it illogical for Sups to say, "Luthor has my mother" as opposed to saying some random name, which could mean nothing to Bruce :lol

That's what makes the scene retarded. He does something that most people wouldn't do in that situation, but it's ok because their moms share a name, so it worked out...wow...so clever, not really.

As dumb as it seemed when I first saw the Martha scene I'm willing to give it a pass. Supes did just get the **** kicked out of him and Lex says Martha like 10 times when they're on top of that building so in his dazed state I see concussed Supes muttering Martha and probably thinking he was saying mother.

i remember in the theater when that scene happened, this 10 year old kid in the back went "OMG! THEY ARE BROTHERS!!!!" :lol

It would make more sense if there was a scene that shows Clark reading about Bruce's background, which explains why he uses that name. That would be logical...
See, this shows how you don't get it, putting aside the mom/Martha thing, that pinch of providence of both moms being named Martha by pure coincidence is a big chunk of what makes the moment.

Yet, you're talking about Clark studying and later trying to emotionally manipulate Batman to save himself and his mom, in a moment of desperation, and this is logical to you, it's pedestrian and crude at best.

You have a long way to go.... One day you'll get it, hopefully.

That was Gaspar :monkey3
You're projecting again :lol

I can't help it! I'm a sociopath who can only see manipulation as a way to optain the desired outcome :(

Still, it seems like a forced coincidence...because he didn't need to say the name. Most people wouldn't do that in that moment of desperation, so the fact they have him use the name to create this big "coincidence", it feels cheap and manipulative. They even show a flashback to remind people of her death just in case people don't get it.

If I was about to kill you and your mother was kidnapped by a-dev, you wouldn't say her name. You'd say, "a-dev has my mother" then I would be like, "your...mo..mo...mother? Would you be my bro?" :lol

You're projecting again :lol

You're not the only one who can be sassy :lol

While watching the scene on the roof top and Lex tells Supes he has his mother, the first thing I would ask is, "Why didn't the glasses fool you?" And I find it hard to believe that Batman beat superman with Kryptonite gas that he shot into his face not once, but 3 times. I don't think Superman is that dumb to fall for the same trick 3 times. Even when he's an old man in the Kingdom Come comic Superman manage to stop Shazam from hurting him with the lightning trick after a couple of times. To think that shooting green gas in his face would bring Supes to his knees and make him call for his mama is a bit of a stretch that no fan boy saw coming.

You really just won't think about it for one minute will you? :lol

I will tell you this and quit again :lol since I won't tell you the answer, there could be other ways to phrase "save this random citizen", if you wanted to remove that heart wrenching moment (why would you? :cuckoo:), it would be forced and contrived, but it can be done, but saying "save my mom" is the one thing that would be down right retarded to say.

"Martha" is what he should've said and nothing else, it doesn't require anything to "make it work", but the amount of complicated rationalization you're doing to peddle that the moment "doesn't work" and how easy and simple the reason of why it does work is, yet you really don't seem close to see it at all, is the perfect example of how hard people are trying to not get this movie, which really baffles me.

Or who knows, maybe people really don't get it and I'm just giving them the benefit of the doubt. Either way I made my peace with it.

I guess the movie's just too smart for you, buddy. No shame in that. You're not the only one.

I like how it's played for irony and memes so people can protect themselves because "entertainment can't be smarter than me, let alone something made by Hack Snyder, preposterous" yet it's probably true. :lol

If you're looking for something that "explains" stuff like Luthor's plans, motivations, Martha, etc etc, those links won't do you any good, that stuff assumes you understand all, which a lot is perceived by people as script problems (which aren't) and discusses further subtleties, themes, details, etc that flew over the head of the vast majority of people who thought they figured out the movie because they caught some in-your-face religious images.

You can find threads and people that explain stuff like motivations online if you really can't figure it out, but honestly, I gave up on people understanding the movie around the time when Prince had so much trouble understanding why Supes shouldn't have said "save my mom" instead of "save Martha", without me spoon feeding the answer, which I didn't (no offense Prince, not baiting or trying to start anything). So I just stopped.

Because I'm pretty sure people will go "uuuh I totally saw that, yeah no dude, I totally thought of that, but eeer, it still s-sucks, because Hack Snyder"... So if people have such a hard time getting what I thought were pretty simple and straight forward plot stuff like that, then I'd rather not share the pearls, I respect the movie too much to do that.

PS: Not to be confused with: no likey no share.

Sure it's in the back of the head of any Supes/Bats fan, yet nobody ever made anything out of it, not even a gag. Until "oh look".

nope.

Oh man share the articles please!

I mean, most of my problems with this movie are the dialogue, acting and script, but hopefully some nice subtexts I didn't catch can change my mind on some of the script problems. I'm interested to see how the "Martha" thing can actually work, because I'm just not seeing it man. Honestly that scene didn't even bother me as much as some other scenes but it'd be nice to have some Gasper insight into the film. Hell, the way you feel about this film I feel about The Matrix Revolutions so I ain't gonna judge man :lol

:lol :lol :lol

This could probably be the funniest thing I read on here :lol

I understand why it works for you, but I can still think it's silly...even comical even if you rationalize it as me or others not "getting it" because you like the scene.

The secret identity of the WB has finally been revealed.

No, that stuff doesn't do anything to explain any of that, like I said you can find those explanations in regular discussion boards, although why it's necessary it's a real mystery to me to this day. None of this is forbidden hidden Illuminati knowledge or anything, you can find most of it if you chain read related articles, I just compiled a ton of it, I'm just shocked at the amount of people on the other side :lol

I don't utterly love the movie, I'm very ambivalent towards a lot of its artistic liberties with these properties, however I can't in good faith say that this movie isn't anything short of a masterpiece, let alone that it's a poorly made one in any way.

You won't judge? I'm the one judging here :lol scrolling and judging every day. :lecture

How do you feel about Revolutions?

I understand why it works for you, but I can still think it's silly...even comical even if you rationalize it as me or others not "getting it" because you like the scene.
I don't think you do, you don't even know, do you? :lol Why does it work for me?

Anyway, it's not "for me", it's why it works, period. And, it's not others """not getting it""", they really don't get it, really :lol and I haven't seen anything that hints at the opposite, in fact it's hilarious how resistant people are to the fact that Snyder of all people made something the flew over their heads :lol

Sure it can be silly, and I love the memes, Martha and Hail Hydra have been the best comic memes this year.
