I say, let's give Snyder a golf clap for effort. It was an interesting approach to Superman and Luthor, for sure. But the experiment was a failure ultimately, so. . .just move on with the alternate reality idea we had teased
Pretty much, for as much as I like the Snyderverse, after JL I'm ready for that reboot.

Bring in comicbook people and go classic, primary colors and even Kryptonian overpants, full on fantasy, sci-fi and neo noir for Batman, less grounding of the heroes.

Snyderverse will still have my heart as earth designate 53 or so.

Clearly he's going for Earth 3.

I watched this again recently, and before the meeting with Alex on the roof Superman barely did anything. He flies a guy through a wall, pulls a ship through the ice, hovers above people needing help, rescues a girl from a fire, and meets congress. I know it sounds like a lot, but each one was barely a minute each, and he does it like it's a burden. Superman of is the best of us and wants to help. He's the bright spot in the bleak world we all live in. I never got that from this version of the character.

There was enough material to make 4 different movies

Although I completely agree that WB wasted several storylines in one film, I posted a video a few pages back (page 4475) where this guy explains why Sups doesn't work as a character, but he ultimately makes BVS a lot better by making two simple changes without getting rid of any characters or storylines. It was pretty cool.

Still, there was no need for Batman to be fighting Sups so early. Even in TDKR, Batman and Sups were friends before they became rivals and they had a history, so WB could have used the BVS story later on after giving these characters a cinematic "history", like Capt and Iron Man. Same goes for the death of Sups, although it could've worked if you watch the video I mentioned.

It's likely that when they announced BvS was going to take a year longer than originally intended, that's because they decided to add the Doomsday sequence. I presume it was originally meant to end with the Bats-Supes confrontation but they wanted to fast-track JL.

I doubt it, even early leaks of the plot already included a Doomsday fught.

Those 2 points were nice... If the movie was about somethig else, as is; The maker of that video showed he understood the movie as much as all the people who tried to "fix" the Martha moment.

I think he understood exactly what the film was trying to accomplish, and kind of made fun of it, but that's not why I like the video. I don't need him to tell me or explain why Sups doesn't work as a character, although he show some good basic examples of good character development and principles. He even explain why the fight between Bats and Sups didn't work and why Superman's logic in that situation made little sense, which are things that we criticized when the film came out. However, it was the two changes that made Batman and Superman better characters, and in a way more traditional.

He didnt though, he judged the movie compared to a template BvS doesnt adhere to, and because of this, they are bad characters according yo him.

I could copy paste other templates of character archetypes and character development that BvS adheres to a tee.

He wanted to make a video to praise Raiders, which is fine, but as BvS criticisms go, its the same old.

I can undertand liking the changes he made if you still struggle with the direction of the charcters went and need some more huge flags to see the development that ultimately happens anyway, but thats exactly what shows that the dude did not get it.

I'm surprised nobody talks about how superman brutally murders a man when he was holding Lois hostage. He charges him through like several walls.

I think they are, but even if they were not, at the end the criticism is reduced to "not muh", which I can respect, but does not demosntrate that they are bad characters or a bad movie, so far everybody has failed to demonstrate that.

I don't know, Superman continuing to fight Batman when he had plenty of opportunities to stop the fight and talk to Batman is a valid point, and fair criticism. This is the same guy who moments later is all like, "save her!!"...but that urgency was not present earlier when he chose to fight some angry dude in a metal suit. His shortcut to the Martha scene...which he kept, was more effective and more logical, imo. It's something we mentioned on this forum, but his view of choices and how they shape a character, is a valid example as to why people don't like this Superman character.

Its not a fair criticism, its the same as "why didnt he take Zod away from metropolis?"

Theres no point in trying to talk to someone while theyre trying to kill you, and there was no urgency before because Supes wasnt in the brink of death.

I remember that part of the video "he couldve said it here... and here, and here and here...." Is he ****ing blind? :slap:

His points arent more logical, it just shows how he has no idea wtf is going on on screen.

And I know is sounds like I am pretending a sort of "uuuh mystical knowledge required to watch this movie", but no, which is why it makes me roll mh eyes so hard that people seem to renounce their common sense when discussing this movie.

I don't know Gaspar, I think the dude in the video was right with the changes. You're wrong here. Those three tweaks he mentioned were things I thought about when I first saw it, especially when they first fight and the Martha bit. There were like a dozen ways to make this movie better, especially when you think of how long they had to do it when it was delayed a year.

Bringing up arcs, character motivations and Raiders of the Lost Ark was annoying though. I'll agree with you there. I don't see why people bother taking the time to make all that. The ADD edits and random memes he threw in were lame too.

The extended cut of the film at least tried to drive home why Superman didn't make much of an effort to talk to Bruce when they first faced off though. The whole "he doesn't respond to words, only violence" or whatever the one lady told Clark when he visited Gotham.

And I do agree that it's easy to make any movie seem sucky when you constantly constantly compare it to one of the greatest films of all time in your review.
