Re: Batman vs. Superman (2016)

Being a fan of the red undies, I reckon they should keep the gold belt for the second film, & incorporate the undies motif into it. Just red sections above & below it.

Re: Batman vs. Superman (2016)

The armor in comics is explained that it is Kryptonian armor in the comics. He has a very small blanket with the symbol of the house of El, and he did wear that with a cape before he became full blown Superman. But he gets the armor when he is fighting Brainiac, and a Krytonian device registers that he need something to fight in. I think they could pull off that outfit without the armor look, and keep the fabric they used. They are partly there anyways. Add the collar, red belt and red highlights and Cavil is wearing this suit.

Re: Batman vs. Superman (2016)

As long as it's not an actual overlay of red underwear, or looks like that, I'd welcome any scarce simple use of red in the blue suit. Also have toi agree on the armour thing, that's a downside to his 52 look imo, that and the collar.

Just a slight tweaking of the Man of Steel suit is probably where I would like it to go too.

@Darth I guess a reason to need armour would be for the suit to simply survive everything Superman puts it through.

I think I like the no undies look. But as a Batman fan, I have had longer to get used to it. In comics they ditched the undies when Bruce came back from hopping through time and started Batman Inc. And in the films he has always worn all black so you couldn't tell. And after the Burton films, they abandoned that look.

Re: Batman vs. Superman (2016)

It wouldn't be a superhero movie thread without some kind of petty arguments! :lecture

Black and grey, blue and grey, black bat, bat on yellow oval, gold belt, yellow belt, long ears, short ears, long cape, short cape, rubber, fabric, I don't care. As long as it looks good, I'm cool.

I think this suit, from what we've seen, looks fantastic. I love that they embraced the comic style translated for cinema. If it was blue and grey, like those manips/photoshops, that would have been great. Black and grey? That's fantastic too.

I prefer Gladiator battles to the death over which Superhero costume is better.

Re: Batman vs. Superman (2016)

Ugh, no blue please. The grey is already somewhat weird in terms of practicality but I'm sorry, the blue is just stupid imo. Batman without a black cape and mask genuinely is not batman to me, a batman without any black? I don't understand who ever thought of that. Never got the blue at all except as a reflecting hue.

Don't really have any dealbreaking demands except a black cape and cowl. Arkham Asylum is as blue as I can dig.
Yeah, I don't have any room for the stupid, unrealistic, and impractical when I think of my borderline psychotic, genius billionaire vigilante who dresses up as a Bat at night and assaults crazy clowns, scarecrows, mutilated lawyers, alligator monsters, etc.

Re: Batman vs. Superman (2016)

I love the black far more than blue, and while I enjoy the way blue can look in the comics, like in that Jim Lee picture, I would never want it for live action. A lot of the blue figures look good.

I never could find the Jim Lee Hush figure:

But I got the Batman based off of Andy Kubert art, and despite it not being black, it's my favorite Batman figure I own! I wish it was black though!

Re: Batman vs. Superman (2016)

Batman's cape and cowl were originally black. The blue was there as highlights. As time went on, artists shifted the blue highlights to become blue fabric. Nowadays it seems they go back and forth and it depends on who the artist is as to what color it ends up being. I am in love with the costume as we've seen it. I can't believe we're finally getting this look. It would be out of place in Nolan's movies so it's great that the franchise is being rebooted. Although I originally wanted to see a long 20+ film franchise of one continuity, I realize now a reboot here and there can be refreshing so things don't become stale and boring as a Nolanverse surely would have.

I don't care if they choose a midnight blue or a black. It'll look great either way.

Re: Batman vs. Superman (2016)

^ I'll back you on that opinion entirely I guess.

I wonder if Snyder and Affleck will manage to top Conroy's final instalment in the Arkham series for me, because I'm really starting to like the Arkham Knight Batman/Car and it has THE voice of Batman to me (although you don't hear Conroy in this trailer). AK looks like what I hoped TDKR would've been.

Snyder has cinema level recourses and it's live action though. Really curious how I'm going to stack these two up against each other.

Re: Batman vs. Superman (2016)

I'm glad the new film suit looks nothing like the Arkham Knight one. That thing is an over designed monstrosity whose only function is to show off super duper hi-def, next gen graphics that will be obsolete in a couple of years.

Re: Batman vs. Superman (2016)

I didn't think the stories were very good in the Arkham games. If it wasn't a game, I'd think they were pretty lame. The patient interviews were my favorite part. The trailer is cool, but the story is going to serve the gameplay, since it is a game. I got really excited that I was going to be tested by Ra's to be his heir......and the proof of my worthiness was my sand gliding skills. Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are my favorite games of the last console generation, so I'm not hating. Although, I will hate on their Bane portrayal!

Keaton's suits never had undies man. :lol

It was just more rubber padding around the hips & crotch.. not undies.

Re: Batman vs. Superman (2016)

I always wondered, what the **** does "gritty" even mean? Just like Webb and McG (for Terminator Salvation), Nolan and Co. used the same exact terminology for their Batman costumes. Uhh, the Begins suit and TDK/TDKR always looked pristine and fresh off the assembly line to me. The only time any suit was ever "gritty" was the garage scene, but what happened then? He upgraded to a nice and shiny suit. :lol

Pre-2005 filmmakers never used that ******** to describe their characters or worlds.

There needs to be a 'Grounded in Reality' song. Not the song we deserve but the song we need right now. Ground that $**t right into reality I say. Ground it.

Ground it.
