Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

The big fight always happens at dawn and it's a set up for the Justice League, so it makes sense. Everyone is just going to refer to it as the new Batman movie anyways.

This!!! I could care less that Superman is in it. Other than a fight scene or two. My question is, Will DC be like Marvel/Disney and have a cameo for other superhero's after the credits to fully tease a Justice League movie?

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Okay, just going to say, when I first heard the title, I thought it was kinda cool and clever, but my wife said it sounded stupid. Guess her thinking is in the majority on this one. :lol

Anytime I'm ready to condemn a movie for having a stupid sounding title, I just stop and remember "The Empire Strikes Back."

What's wrong with Empire's title? It never sounded (or looked) stupid to me.

Is a lot better than this,

As far as a title and first impressions go.

Appropriate response is appropriate. If I could rep you, I would.

I like it, too. I just figure I may as well have fun with it if everyone on the boards is going to rip it to shreds (like anything else to come out of this movie).

To be fair, nobody really ripped the Batman/Batmobile image. There was genuine excitement coming from everyone over that the other week.

The pics of Gadot, Goyer comments and this crappy title? I think atleast the latter two deserve a ribbin'.

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

If you can't have fun, why post? I've said I believe Snyder will pull a win with Gadot and surprise people, but I sure don't feel the need to defend her like she was my sister. It is what it is and I know a lot of people lost faith with MoS. I'm also not like the cynical dudes in the Spidey thread who think everyone will give a false opinion of the movie once it's out just so they can what? Somehow be right? :lol

I absolutely agree with the Goyer ribbing, but, at the same time, I think people are starting to mix his own personal BS with the movie. Particularly when WB and DC are seemingly starting to phase him out. As for the title, I think people could have fun with it, but I don't think it warrants all the hate it's getting, particularly when it's such a non-issue. Be honest with me, now, when "Captain America:The First Avenger" came out, how many people that you know called it anything other than "Captain America?"

Same situation. People have been calling this Batman vs. Superman since that logo popped up on screen at SDCC last year. I doubt they're going to stop any time in the next few years. I'll admit that the Affleck stuff was a nice change of pace, but I've never been so overwhelmed by the amount of hatred for something that people haven't even seen yet as I have been in this thread. The casting announcements, the title, low res set pics of Gadot that add nothing of merit. It's like people genuinely want to hate this film, and it's entirely puzzling to me.

I didn't know about "The First Avenger" title, until I watched the DVD. To be fair, I didn't watch it until then!

Eh, "First Avenger" sounds a lot better than "Dawn of Justice". It made Cap seem like the first legit hero, like "Old man Cap, the first superhero". Sure, Iron Man and Thor came before him in terms of filmography, but I think having that subtitle made him more special. What does "Dawn of Justice" do for a movie like this? Nothing. Admit it, it ain't no "The Dark Knight" or "Man of Steel" as far as WB/DC titles go. There are people here that don't like MoS at all (I'm one of them), but I think it's safe to say that they dig the title. You basically said it yourself. If people are just going to call this Batman vs. Superman, than why not just call a spade a spade? Why bother with the trashy subtitle?

As for the "hate", well what do you want? People really dug the Batman reveal pic (best received thing in a long time), but don't like the after mentioned stuff. So what? I don't sense a bias there. If it's good, it's good, if it's bad, it's bad, people are going to comment on their personal feelings. Look at X-Men: DOFP. Most of those things were ill-received from the get-go. From the costumes to Quicksilver, everyone was ripping on it. Now it's actually out, and it looks like the film as a whole is pretty damn good. If the final product is good, it will emerge as such in the eyes of the audience. Until then, I see nothing wrong with "ew, that title sucks", "man, Goyer is a ****", "Gadot looks anorexic", or "to hell with these forced Justice League plugs". Good or bad, all we can do is speculate for two ****ing years.

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

This is the title that we deserve....

.....but not the one we need right now. :)
