Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

To be fair, though, keep in mind that this is a Batman who's been around the block a few times, but never seen an alien. The standards of practicality for going toe to toe with gangsters and thugs are much different than those when going head to head with an alien super-being. In that regard, I think this is Batman's traditional suit, but I think he'll don something more protective when his title bout with The Man of Tomorrow comes around.

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

No, It's just my quick rant about how the new Batsuit for MOS doesn't fit with the tone of the movie. Even the Kryptonians wore armor for god-sake so i don't see why they didn't give Batman armor as well. I know i'm about to get mauled by a pack of you guys here in this thread but this is just my own opinion.

Also i just want to make it clear that i LOVE the new look of Batsuit but in terms of practicality, it makes no sense what so ever. I can't really buy that Batman is gonna take on Superman with next to no protection for his body.

I gotcha. I don't mind Batman having an armored look either tbh, I just don't want that to be his only suit. I think someone said there will be multiple suits so, maybe there will be enough to keep everyone happy.

Okay that actually made sense which i didn't think of.

DC I hate you because you guys cant put out more then one movie in 2 years I have to make do with stuff like teen hormones Spiderman, the winter solider who is barely in the movie and now an X men movie that was very under whelming stuffed with useless X men mutants who are there just to fill in time.

Let the hate begin :)

The tie knot kind of works as a hope symbol. :lol

All superhero comic lovers need to burn in a fiery pit. The most unreasonable and contradictory fans I have ever seen.

I'm pretty sure superheros were originally created for little kids, by the way. An alien that just happens to look like a human, can fly, has super strength, can't be hurt, shoots lasers out of his eyes, and has x-ray vision? Oh wait, it gets better. His name is "Superman". :rotfl

That is the type of thing 5-year-olds come up with. It is beyond silly and ridiculous. How these "characters" ever became so popular in the first place is beyond me.

Anyway, point is, all of this stuff is based on the goofiest, most childish **** imaginable, and you find issues with the title "Dawn of Justice", or "V" instead of "VS", or Gadot not being buff enough...ffs.

Taking one step back and getting a little bit more perspective, yeah I'm gonna +1 this. I'd rep you if I could.

In comics and books it's always "VERSUS" or "VS."

I feel a disturbance in the force...

Celtic reincarnate! :horror

Going by your tortured logic then, wouldn't it follow to get childish over childish subject matter?

Not only that, he doesn't know **** about history or why many comics were created. They certainly were not just "for children." We were putting comic books in rations in ww2.

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

^ There's a lot of stuff meant for adults that's old and silly as **** to most people now. Times change – some people change with them and clearly some don't.

The argument 'it was meant for adults' is a non-argument. Communication and use of language alone often becomes cheesy to later generations. There's nothing inherently better in modernising, but there's equally nothing inherently better in preserving the old. "Does mother know you wereth her drapes." is now mocked, yet to many that form of speech is real, deep serious ****.

I like a lot of older films, but a lot of tonal, social and stylistic aspects of it are often simply dumb to me. That includes anything from star wars to ghostbusters to superman to whatever. There's taste and there's resonance. And it's all personal and subjective.

There's just no objective validation for style, ever, except that an artist can homogenise style and substance to what he/she feels is coherent and befitting – and ultimately that's subjective too. And that goes for the style of the source material as much as the film based on it.

What one calls pretentious the other calls classy. Just the way it is.

Why would you even care about the property if you really thought it was dumb? It may be out of fashion, but for anyone on this forum not to be able to understand a character like Superman's appeal is looking for attention, pure and simple. There's plenty of rich symbolism to play off of for the adult-minded. I'm not sure what Lar'Ja wanted to see, a pep rally for a "beyond silly and ridiculous" superhero? Don't give in to his antics.

This is the internet age. Criticism means people care. You can't have a negative reaction to this stuff without first having higher expectations.

But didn't you know history is dumb? :horror
