I'm thinking it's not so much about the lyrics having meaning (although the first two lines are appropriate). I think it was just a transmission from Earth. And Kira's been to Earth... Maybe all five are from there. Or are there.congerking said:Wonder if Mr. Bob Dylan's song can shed some hidden light on the episode
i only managed to catch the last 20 minutes last night, but thats the first thing i thought.congerking said:And does anyone think that maybe starbuck might be in lee's mind a la six in baltars?
DouglasMcc said:Okay, either no one noticed it ...or no one felt it was important enough to mention it. However, Kara was in an old school 1st generation Battlestar Galactica Viper, not a modern Viper. I highly doubt Lee would imagine/vision Starbuck in the old Viper. I believe she is real and has been to Earth. This would work with either possibility - A.) she's a Cylon or B.) she was "transported" away from the ship. In fact, I believe the Viper came from Earth. I think a lot of us are assuming that Earth in the show will be like Earth here and now - similar to BSG 1980. However, it doesn't have to be. It could be a fully realized colony/planet with defenses and such of their own.
Another thought I had was ... what if the Final 5 Cylon models followed the 13th tribe's markers and made it to Earth. What if they either A.) admitted who they were and worked to help modernize Earth to Colonial level or B.) hide in wait - not necessarily in a sinister way - and subtly influenced society in fear/anticipation that their more warlike "brothers/sisters" would one day find their way to Earth? Think about it, BSG has always been about the grey ... they never characterized Baltar as the stereotypical "handle-bar mustache" villain present in the original show. He was an arrogant man with flaws and a survival instinct ... but he has yet to do anything "evil". They have characterized humanity in the same way, neither good nor bad, but both - in the grey. For every Admiral Cain who felt that violence was the only way, there has been a Lee Adama, who wanted a more "humane" approach. Well, wouldn't it tie this whole show together so well if the Cylons were the same way - one group that wants to whip out mankind, another who wants to co-exist? The opening credits preach every episode that "the Cylons were created by man." Well, lets look at it this way then - Man created machine, and man is imperfect. Well, then it is rational to assume that machine is imperfect. They have already proven that they possess the same emotions - love, anger, etc. Why couldn't the final 5 make the same decision that Sharon made, to live peacefully with man. Oh ... I am so looking forward to next year now
