So Gaeta helps President Baltar and now he's alligned himself with VP Zarak. Good choices...:monkey4

Maybe it's just the nostalgic factor but I'm really enjoying the fact that Richard Hatch's character Zarak has not been a throwaway couple of episode cameo but rather he's playing an integral part in the entire series... I know that he was adament about bringing back BSG and I'm glad that he was welcomed and given a strong role in this version that did come to fruition.

Funny thing about last night's show-- Halfway through I was going where the frak is Baltar and then poof-- like magic we're witnessing his quasi-religious diatribe.

I can't wait to see what happens with this character.

Seeing Richard Hatch on BSG is great! IMO he's giving Zarak's character a very strong presence.

Baltar scene last night kind of reminded me of David Koresh & the Branch Davidians. Sorta.

I'm getting the same religious zealot cult feel and I wonder if a mass-suicide moment might not be on the horizon-- without Koresh--er, Baltar backing out at the last minute.

Funny that you mention that...my girlfriend thinking almost the same thing except she used Jim Jones. :horror

My theory is that Adama is dying, some complication of his surgery or something... and HE is the dying leader. Because the scripture said that the dying leader would lead them to the promised land (they didn't use the word Earth there), and that the leader would not live to enjoy it. So I am thinking that Roslin assumed it was her, and now Adama is the one trying desperately to find them a home.

I also think that Gaeta is the one who puts Adama into the airlock, the scene we saw in the preview a while back with Adama blindfolded in an airlock.

I'm also glad they worked in Zarek into this, and it's cool to see them take Gaeta this far. It makes his character arc all the more interesting. He was the idealistic young officer, Baltar scarred him mentally.. made him more revenge driven. The resistence tries to airlock him and Sam takes his leg. Then he finds out that they were Cylons... and now he is so driven by revenge that he has become blind. Pretty interesting stuff.

I was sympathetic towards Gaeta....now I wish I could strangle him myself. Dang did he piss me off.....but then that makes for great tv. The writers have really done an outstanding job....I know there will be some kind of light at the end of this dark tunnel, but damn is it dark right now.

The writers do a great job with the characters. Gaeta's gone through a lot over the last two season. He was forced to help the Cylons, he was considered a traitor, he lost his leg, he's a drug addict... Now he's teaming up with Zarek. I don't think it's going to end well for him.

Was anyone else who watched the webisodes surprised to find out Gaeta was gay (or bi-curious, I guess)?

Great point. I think you're dead on about this--

I didn't really mind Gaeta, up until now.

That bastard needs to die
yeah he does...he's all bitter and full of piss and vinegar. i was hoping starbuck would knock his gimp-ass out.
~~also, like the idea about Adama being the dying leader, but i really hope he's not because i really like him and it seems that the entire Galactica crew is rooted on him.

Great theory, this would make a nice twist in the story.

The episode for me was kinda a filler, with next week being a must better episode. I expected the Galactica crew actually have trouble with capturing Zarek, like the trailer showed, but they just showed it off camera. Oh well, next week looks pretty good.

DA, your theory about Adama sounds pretty good. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out.

Adama: "Sometimes I really hate this job." :lol
