Why is it that nearly all the human SW figures from SSC have the same facial expression? Are the sculptors told to do them that way because it surely can't be down to lack of ability?
I'm not saying every character should have sculpts with extreme "shouting" type expressions but a bit more character would improve things no end, Dagobah/Bespin Luke should have a look of grim determination or even a touch of fear on his face, but instead Sideshow go for their trademark "glazed over" expression

This has been a big gripe of mine even since before Star Wars. It gets really teduious seeing that same old poker face expression, but I can't really fault SSC as when they do try different expressions most folks tend to raise holy hell. The expresion on Jedi Luke suits that character perfectly, yet people bash it constantly.

Figures would be more interesting with expressive faces, and I agree that even some poses look weird with the "poker face" look, but with a neutral face you can do far more with the figure for display than a face that expresses some emotion that only suits a certain number of poses. ANH Leia, if produced like the prototype with her eyes looking out the corners will be very limited on how you can use her, it adds a little dynamic to the piece, but it's limiting as well. I like the neutral faces, but I think you can also find a middle ground between expressive and neutral, such as Andy Bergholtz's sculpts for Anakin, Obi-Wan, Legolas, T-800 and T-1000, and Trev executed it well in his Sarah Connor sculpt. And while the Jedi Luke isn't very expressive, that is the look of Mark Hammil in Jedi, I'd say probably 80-85% of that film his face was emotionless, he barely even flinched when Yoda died, he just left his lips open and stared blankly, like the sculpt.

The thing is if they go too crazy with the expressions it can limit some of the poses. If you go with more of what they have it opens up much more.

Putting that melon-head aside for a moment, (great photoshop!) It would be REALLY cool if we could get that same exact base!

I too am limiting the number of repeat character figures but already planned on getting several Lukes (Jedi, X-wing/Snowspeeder, Tatooine and Bespin). He's a major playa in each film and the outfits were different enough to warrant the dupes. (Yavin Luke was never even considered. Sorry, Dusty...) :monkey3

I'm happy with another Luke as long as the quality of the headsculpt, outfit etc is back to the standards of the earlier figures and not that of Yavin Luke , simple as that .

from the shown pic the belts already missing certan details, and why oh why oh why do they anounce these things as im making one!!!!

Here's an enlarged, cleaned up (well, as much as is possible from the thumbnail) version of the sculpt alongside the promo pic that was posted earlier.

Not a bad sculpt, though the cheeks a bit too puffy compared to that pic, and It looks like I was right before about the lips being too red. Also, it looks like his eyes are messed up, but that may just be the crappy resolution(Not offence, RoboDad).

I dunno, that little head pic just looks awful to me. I hope it's cause something is lost in size. It looks like a white guy with shaggy hair and no obvious facial defects. Not really like Mark specifically, just some guy.

I'm reeeeaaalllyyy hoping to be blown down by this, I really want an awesome Bespin Luke. But after Yavin Luke...hope is hard.

its the long thin pouch , some promo shots show it, some dont, havent rewatch the ESB to check (yet) the one im making currently for Darth Neil I tried to alter the sideshow jedi Lukes hair to resemble the ESB style a bit more, only he knows if its a hit or miss.Personally im looking forward to this,i know itll be good(if the heads not that great im sure Darren will sort that and the likes of DA CM and the Figuremaster will sort the paint apps), and opens up options for cutomizing dagobah scenes etc...

So what's the likelihood of removable forearms, one with a stump and bionic compartment?

Mace had a hand Stump so I'd say 100% at least on the hand stump. It was just an interchangable 'hand,' so it was a bit longer than it should be, but more accurate than Mark rolling his sleeve over his hand :lol Not sure if he will have alternate arms like Anakin for the forearm compartment though.

You could do the forearm accessory like Darth Maul's gloves, you just put a hole inside it for the wrist pin to snap into and walla.
