If they didn't allow attendee preorders for all items that go up for sale during SDCC, we would have missed out on them while we were on the floor or attending panels, so that seems like it should be mandatory. Allowing attendee preorders for items that have a PPO scheduled for a date after the show when we are all home again--that's just a nice perk and a cool bonus for attendees. I would understand it if they didn't do it, but I appreciate the fact that they do.

I can understand allowing POs for items that go up during the con, but they should only be on that day. For orders after the con, orders shouldn't be allowed. Yeah, it's a nice perk for attendees, but these aren't convention exclusives and it really sticks it to us who didn't go.

Yes, I may be putting the cart before the horse here but humor me for a moment.

Bespin Luke will be a very high-demand figure, and there are only 1980 exclusives total. If the SDCC attendees were able to order those exclusives, then who's to say that for a non-convention exclusive item there are only going to be 500 tomorrow??? That leaves a lot of people in the dust. :monkey4

Right! Honestly when I see people who don't go or can't go it comes across as nothing more than sour grapes. There are some perks for going and this is one. I mean look at the money people are spending to go see SS booth (as well as many others) at the event. I think that deserves the chance to order for people who are enjoying the show for FREE at home.

That argument would make sense if SSC didn't offer CONVENTION exclusives for the general non-attendee public, but this is a REGULAR RELEASE FIGURE.

It's not sour grapes to cry foul that a significant chunk of a low edition size may have been taken out of the game before the actually release date. Now, it'd be cool if there were 1980 exclusives available on PPO day IN ADDITION TO pre-orders taken at SDCC.

There are only 1980 exclusives total. There will be people left out of them no matter how they are set for pre-order.

What happens if I'm on the plane home while something that goes up Sunday is allowed to be ordered? I'm screwed if I can't be home when it goes up for normal PPO or whatever.

How does it stick it 2 you guys? You still get to order it. We just get to order it first.

Well, then maybe SS shouldn't offer NA exclusives. If those going are gonna be screwed and not be allowed to place orders at the show I say screw those that can't go.

The argument is valid. Plain and simple. You don't think so cause you choose not to go. There are some benefits to plunking down the change to go and its more than just an exclusive item.

It's not sour grapes to cry foul that a significant chunk of a low edition size may have been taken out of the game before the actually release date. Now, it'd be cool if there were 1980 exclusives available on PPO day IN ADDITION TO pre-orders taken at SDCC.

No, it's sour grapes. Part of the ES is sold at the show BFD. Again, its a perk that's cool because some of us spend a ton to go. It really isn't hurting those that can't go. You still get to order it as did we. We just got to do it and not fight it out with you all. You want to order it at the show then pay the money and go.

So why add to that total by selling it two weeks in advance of the official pre-order date??

I have no problem digital duking it out with other collectors on PPO day, but to have a high chance of missing out because a non-convention exclusive figure was pre-sold to a bunch of people attending a convention that has nothing to do with the figure (i.e. - it's just a normal figure) is bogus.

I'm particularly passionate about this because I really think the Bacta Tourniquet is an essential part of this figure, and I want to have a fair shot at it. I don't want to get the shaft because I didn't drop a ton of money on a convention.

As for the argument that it should be a perk for people who spent that money, that's bogus too. That's what the convention exclusives are for!! If Sideshow didn't offer the Holographic Sidious for the general public, so be it. That's a perk for attendees.

This shouldn't be one.

what is it with the whining. I mean star wars threads are notorious for whining but today it just has been a little more intense.

All you whiners who think life is unfair because someone gets to order a toy before you, perhaps a reality check is in order... Would you like a ticket to Africa or Iraq? Mayhap life will seem a little more fair after that.

Then, Josh, I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree. I personally don't believe that a regular figure's exclusive should somehow become a partial convention exclusive.

And I do think you're being particularly high and mighty and condensing to me. I didn't CHOOSE not to go. I can't afford to go. I don't get paid vacation time. My wife just missed a week and a half of work because of surgery. If I chose anything, it's to have more important priorities in life, but apparently I should get shortchanged for that.

And I recommend that you read my earlier posts, Josh. I clearly said that "ANY ITEMS THAT GO UP FOR PPO DURING THE CONVENTION SHOULD BE ALLOWED AT THE CONVENTION"

Last time I checked, August 10th is NOT during SDCC.

If you want the "perk" of not fighting it out on PPO day, then SSC should gladly let you order the NON-EXCLUSIVE EDITION. That way they can allocate whatever number they want for you guys and have another amount for us who "choose" not to go across country.

Sorry, Josh, but you got insulting on this one, buddy. But I guess you wouldn't see that because you "plunked down the change to go" and I apparently chose not to.

Cheers, mate.

And what is with all the hostility???

Since when does venting frustrations on a discussion board constitute whining??

What started out as me venting to fellow collectors has turned into people getting preachy and condenscending about things. I certainly don't think LIFE is unfair because of it. I think the business practice is unfair. If I miss out on the exclusive, I'll just take my business to another retailer like CSC or Razor's Edge. Ironically, I'd probably get the figure earlier that way.

It's still not a convention exclusive. We just got a perk of ordering it early. God whats the harm in that. If you want the figure so damn bad either go to the show or make sure your butts in your seat when it goes up. Of course you think it's bogus cause you choose not to go and now you get to duke it out with other collectors. As I said pay up and go the Con next year. Quit ragging on the fact we get to order a figure a little early.

I'm particularly passionate about this because I really think the Bacta Tourniquet is an essential part of this figure, and I want to have a fair shot at it. I don't want to get the shaft because I didn't drop a ton of money on a convention.

Then as I said make sure your butts in your seat tomorrow so you can get it. People not going aren't getting the shaft. Good god. Crying over the fact people going getting a chance to order first is so silly.

Easy to say for someone who didn't spend dime one. It was fun for you to get to enjoy the show and all that from home. It really is sour grapes on your part or anyone who doesn't feel con goers should get to order early. It's a bogus thing to cry over honestly.

As I've said pay up and go and quit your crying. SS and others will keep doing this because people pay good money to go see the show and stuff in person.

And what is with all the hostility???

I think the way we feel largely colors how we read others post. I wasn't trying to be hostile at all. Venting frustration, to me, is the very definition of whining. :monkey5

By the way, I wish everyone who wants one will get one. I am not one who cares about edition size or any of that stuff. But to expect anyone to satisfy everybody is a tad unrealistic.
I have seen every sideshow exlusive being sold by buyers at cost or below at one time or another. If anyone really wants it, alls it takes is a bit of patience and a watchful eye. anyone who wants it can get it.

Wow...so you still think I "chose" not to go. Funny how you didn't bother to quote that.

Yeah, I plan on trying tomorrow. My wife is going to try ordering it for me tomorrow because I'm "choosing" to stay at work and try helping an autistic child better himself. Boo-hoo for me, eh?

And since when did I have anything to say about getting to enjoy SDCC from home. I read reports on it and that's all. I could care less about the coverage.

And I've already said several times that I'm VENTING not "crying"

You don't have rose-colored glasses. You apparently have a halo.

And I'm sure that'll get quote as a personal attack. But I bet suggesting that being called a crier would just be sour grapes, right?

I agree that it's poor form pre-selling the exclusive. The whole idea of PPO is that newsletter subscribers get the first bite of the cherry. And now some are going to miss out, who otherwise wouldn't have.

Then, out of curiosity, how would you define venting? What do you do when you vent? I'm not trying to be antagonistic. I'm genuinely curious. I'll certainly not divulge details, but what would our recent PMs to each other be considered???

Don't take that personally. It's just an example. You know I agreed with you.

No joke. I mean really. Its like SS took their bottle and is kicking dirt in their eyes.

Then, Josh, I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree. I personally don't believe that a regular figure's exclusive should somehow become a partial convention exclusive.

Its not a convention exclusive. Does it still have the regular PPO date and time? YES! So therefore it's still a regular order we just got to do our PPO ahead of time.

I'm tired of reading posts where people feel they're being treated unfairly on freaking toys!! We got to order before you. SO BIG DEAL!! It's just a freaking collectible as you pointed out your wife and "real" life is more important. So if you miss out you still have those things that "really" count. Right?!?

Why should those of us who paid our good hard earned money have to settle for the regular. While you who couldn't/choose not to go gets to order the exclusive? Sounds like you want your cake and eat it too.

Sorry, Josh, but you got insulting on this one, buddy. But I guess you wouldn't see that because you "plunked down the change to go" and I apparently chose not to.

I didn't insult you. I'm simply venting my frustrations towards those that seem to think the world must revolve around them and their needs. I did and because I did I think a perk of ordering at the show is more than fair.

Remember you get to order the figure tomorrow and it cost you NOTHING to do so. Just a thought.

Well, maybe you didn't intend to, but it did insult me. And it insults me that you think I'm the kind of person who thinks the world must revolve around me. Try working in my job for a couple of weeks, and you'll clearly see just how much you have to be the exact opposite to do that job. And that's a job I took rather than pursue a teaching job.

would anyone mind ordering an exclusive for me tomorrow?? i have a funeral to attend at 11 so there's no chance for me to get home for the preorder.

I can only imagine what Josh's post count would be if he choose to answer in individual posts:lol

Wow...so you still think I "chose" not to go. Funny how you didn't bother to quote that.

I was in the process of replying to another one of your posts. So

Yeah, I plan on trying tomorrow. My wife is going to try ordering it for me tomorrow because I'm "choosing" to stay at work and try helping an autistic child better himself. Boo-hoo for me, eh?

Don't try to make me look bad because you're doing your job helping an autistic child. That's great that you are and I tip my cap for that. So don't go playing martyr on that fact.

And since when did I have anything to say about getting to enjoy SDCC from home. I read reports on it and that's all. I could care less about the coverage.

Ah so now all you did was read reports yet you want the same playing grounds as those that went. You didn't even enjoy the coverage by SS and other sites. Why doesn't that surprise me.

And I've already said several times that I'm VENTING not "crying"

Well, the way you're coming across it looks like one in the same.

You don't have rose-colored glasses. You apparently have a halo.

:monkey3 :) :lol
