Cannibal Jack is the best figure of 08.

Davy fails because he is too short, or maybe Jack is too tall?

IMO the BR Jokers popularity in this thread has nothing to do with TDK type. The figure is simply amazing from head to toe, you would think Hot Toys would have had each individual suit custom tailored to fit each body, its that good.

Up until this piece 1/6 suits were simply pathetic, things have changed, in this figure. You do get an extra sculpt which again imo is hands down the BEST looking sculpt i've ever seen to date, this add value to the piece as well. The BR mask fits extremely snug, which again adds to the "custom fit" category. It was a significant part of the film and not a single detail was void.

BR Joker HAS the most votes because it is the best figure of 2008.

It all depends on your criteria:

1. For all round sculpt, costume and accessories quality it has to be Cannibal Jack.

2. SSC Indy has all of the above minus a decent paint job, but it scores by having value in its favour.

3. Enterbay FOF, while superb, is just too expensive and OTT to be the best (plus Arnie Kim can't sculpt ears!!!) - it's so awesome and expensive that I almost felt silly when I received it.

4. BR Joker has the joint best HS of the year with Cannibal Jack, but I'd mark it down because you basically have to buy two figures to get the perfect movie Joker.

5. The two Batman figures could also easily be the best figures of the year - although the rubber on the outfits is so thin and HT has such a bad track record with rubber that I'm not sure how long they'll last.

6. The HT 2 in 1 Superman is the best Superman figure ever, and as generic sculpts the two HS's look fantastic, but because they don't resemble a living person I'd mark this figure down - though it's still 100% superb.

7. Brando Jor El has a superb HS but the fact that it's not a figure of an action hero, plus the lack of accessories (shoes aren't accessories, Hot Toys!) bring it down.

So to me the winner is Cannibal Jack, but every other figure on this list can make a valid argument for being the best.

I wonder if people supporting Cannibal Jack only bought that version. He's a great figure, I just don't think of him for best of the year because of how much is a rehash from the first figure, might have voted for the first one when that came out. The head piece is impressive with the feathers though, never would have expected non-sculpted elements like that.

Quoted for truth.

BR Joker all the way. Can't wait to get my Joker head from Les, so BR Joker can get the good head back on it. :)

I wish I could see BR Joker, Dallas, and Gandalf in person, especially the latter two. Of the heavy hitters that people are nominating the only one I own is Cannibal Jack. I think if I saw in person, Dallas and Gandalf too, it'd be a much harder decision. I'm not convinced with the BR Joker. It looks like a one trick pony with the head sculpt being the only thing that really jumps out at you from pictures as jaw dropping. It also seem somewhat wrong to give the bank robber joker 'Figure of the Year' when said head sculpt is meant for the V1 Joker with a huge percentage of people supporting that fact, ripping it off and sticking it on another figure. With Gandalf, Dallas, and Jack it's not just the head sculpt(s) blowing your mind, it's the other 90 percent of the figure too.

I'd say Gandalf the Grey...
but all my 2008 favorites are:

I don't count value at all. To me a figure is what it is, regardless of it's price. It's either well done, or it has errors. As for Indy... his head is too big, I don't care what anyone says, I can see it, and it also has a glossiness that makes him look like he slathered on some vaseline before going out. I wanted to like him so, so much, and some of his costume elements are the best yet, but his flaws outline how Sideshow still has trouble bringing an excellent, excellent headsculpt to full retail fruition. I'm confused as to why Clone Obi-Wan's head came out so well, but Indy's didn't.

Which by the way, here is my top 3:

1: Bank Robber Joker. It's not just the headsculpt, it's attention to detail. The extremely well-tailored suit, the plethora of fun and accurate accessories.

2: TDK Suit Batman: A work of art. looks like a real person in some photos.

3: Alien Kane and Dallas (I consider them interchangeable) Amazing suit detail, cool-ass light effects, just amazing engineering. I like Kane a tad better due to the melt-hole in the helmet faceplate, and the hugger-wrapped head. His "Alien Egg" is more detailed, too. I would never display him "un-attacked", so the other head doesn't matter to me.

I'd give honorable mention to Clone Obi-Wan- If Sideshow can do more of this quality (minus the floppiness) they will be on their way. (I have high hopes for Vader, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared it will have problems) However, if the heads keep looking shiny like Indiana Jones, it will be a waste of good sculptors. So much detail lost in the slimy look. The bar has been raised too high for that to continue.

1. Sideshow Gandalf the Grey
2. Sideshow Indiana Jones
3. Sideshow Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee (I just couldn't put either one above the other)
4. Sideshow Palpatine/Sideous twinpack
5. Sideshow Ben Kenobi

I would have to say the HT Joker(V1) is my favorite this year, HT Dallas second.

Now that there's a solid list, I wonder if I should do a final poll just to see the results?

Seems to be, in no particular order:

Indiana Jones
BR Joker
Gandalf
Davy Jones
Old Ben
Cannibal Jack
TDK Batman
Dallas
Clone Obi

Put it to a poll, I wonder by how much the BR will win by. Could be a blow out, could be close.

Actually a lot more people chose other figures that I would have imagined given the Bat-hype.

I'll poll it, unless anyone chimes in with a figure I missed. I just picked the ones that seem to come up several times.
