It is. But still, I must ask: wtf?

The latest one was the most emotional for me. Wrath of Khan, Undiscovered Country, First Contact and Star Trek are all fighting for the top spot of the series for me.

(I also have a soft spot for that one with George Lazenby.)

Does this answer your question? It's cool that you dig OHMSS, either way.

my choices:
- voyage home (the funniest trek movie, with awesome chemistry between the whole crew)
- first contact (great action movie and the borg are the trek universe's best villains, hands down)
- undiscovered country (a warm, poignant final film for the original crew)
- jj's star trek (a brilliant re-imagining, with humour and heart, but the 3rd act is weak)
- wrath of khan (a bit over-rated if u ask me, but still great nonetheless)

and i'm a bit of a nemesis apologist. i'm sure i'm alone on this, but i don't care. to me, it's nowhere near as bad as all the critics and trekkers make it out to be. it ain't great, but it is pretty watchable. unlike insurrection, which is a tedious yawnfest and the villains are absolute rubbish.

QFT, I couldn't agree more and trust me, you are NOT alone there.
Nemesis wasn't shakespeare but it wasn't meant to be. I enjoyed it for what it was, in spite of it's flaws. Of course, having a hot girl sitting next to you in the theatre when you watch it doesn't hurt lol
I've watched Insurrection twice.. once to say I had, and once to listen to the commentary. Other than that it collects dust on my shelf because while I hate it, I'm a bit of a completist.

:lol

the only thing better than watching a movie with a hot girl... is watching porn with a hot girl. :drool

Sorry, but I'm a Bond fan and I've only seen the Trek movies once, so indulge my OT quote...

I love On Her Majesty's Secret Service, one of the best and most underrated Bond films ever.

I think OHMSS is great as well. It's been years since I've read the books, but as I recall this is the movie that is closest to the book as well.

More on topic, you guys are really making me want to look into the Next Generation movies.

There's one more for OHMSS. It's nice to know there are more of us out there.

Also, The Next Gen movies were not bad. I think most will agree the best was First Contact but after I think it's a toss up between Generations and Insurrection.
Funny thing is BBC America is having a Next Gen marathon right now. Love that show.

One thing i really hated about the Trek movies was how they reused the destruction scene of Changs BOP in ST: Generations, and i am sure they did it a few times on DS9 and maybe TNG.

Yeah that was very cheap of them. Surely Trek had the money to make a new explosion sequence.

For some reason that reminds of something very stupid in Star Trek IV - the 'court' scene in the beginning where they somehow have the footage of the Enterprise self destructing in Star Trek III, the very same footage we the movie-viewing audience originally saw. I mean...what was their explanation for that?? Were they really suggesting that there happened to be cameras floating in space in that exact location around Genesis to capture the Enterprise' destruction from every spectacular angle?

Maybe that footage was recovered from Kruge's BOP.

no idea, that is less concerning to me though.

Actually, come to think of it...in Generations when the BOP is leaving to drop Sauron off at Veridian 6 or some crap like that, they rehashed another scene from ST6 when Chang's Bop is engaging cloak/warp drive and on its way to the Kitomer Conference.

Things like this have happened all through Star Trek, even the original series.

Always been a Star Trek fan. Child of the 80's and watched all the original casts' films repeatedly. My favorites of those are 2, 3, 4, and 6.

A BIG HOWEVER though as Abrams' new take on Star Trek is my favorite Trek now. He put so much life into these characters and yes, made it fun again. I guess it comes down to Wrath of Khan vs. Abrams' Trek. Its a TOUGH battle, but I think Abrams' Trek is a better film when it comes down to it. It might not have the philisophical drama of the issues Khan explored, but I do think its a better film. Ahhhh, hard to say actually when I think how much I LOVE WRATH OF KHAN!!!! I just love the new cast so much and the new take on the material that it overshadows Khan.

Fine.....Its a ____ing tie!

This is hilarious!, DJO are from Toronto as well.

*Some mild language in the link*

I keep trying to convince the wife of that but she won't bite. She insists on watching it when I'm not around :gah:

if she can't be convinced to watch porn with u then how about getting her to star in a DIY one? ahem. :monkey3

aaaaaanyway, back on topic... for some reason i've always preferred picard over kirk as captain. don't get me wrong, i love kirk, he had the machismo and the charisma. just that picard's intellect made him seem more like a guy i'd be more confident to get me OUT of battle and not just into it.

and damn, when the man spoke, you listened!

This has always bugged me to no end. WTF were they thinking? :slap

1. Wrath of Khan
2. JJ Abrams Star Trek
3. First contact
4. Undiscovered country
5. Generations
6. Star Trek 4
7. Nemesis
8. Star Trek 3
9. Star Trek 1
10. Star Trek 5

Even though i voted for JJ's Star Trek the Lens Flares played havok with me no end, i have quite sensitive eyes and the constant flashes across the action provided nothing more than a distraction to the events on screen, On DVD i find the flares to be less of a distraction but still damn annoying. Wrath of Khan was brilliant i think the tension and rivalry was well built and for someone who hadnt seen the episode involving both characters still managed to make sense and i love Khan as a villian. I think all but one TNG movie was awful which is a pity because TNG was my fave show, First Contact.

My favorite is still Wrath of Kahn... just a perfect movie IMO. And Kahn Vs Kirk is classic :rock

Second slot has the new movie and Undiscovered Country (although admittedly its been years since I saw UC, so I'm a bit foggy).

Never got into the Next Gen movies, they just weren't that good... love the TV series, but something about the movies was lacking.
