So this is getting a sequel?
The creepy man-baby-morph, makes its way back to LV-426, and the Space Jokey ship and exoskeleton (sorry it is a space suit), then goes on to new adventures. :lol

:wink1:
Hopefully.

I’d like the sequel to Covenant and see what David does with the colony too lol

My version of "Cameron screwed up the life-cycle" was Hicks and Newt being killed off in Alien 3. I hate it

Yes, that's a fair comparison.

Or the hybrid in A4...

Or the dreck that is AvP...

Or the slendermorph currently...

Each generation gets theres.

Actually, based on that lovely chart you provided, its strange to realize the longest period without an Alien sequel was only 7 years. So every 4-7 years some group of people's bubble is popped.

no, I'm talking about a script that relies on nothing but callbacks and nostalgia instead of a real plot which is what Deadpool was. and Jurassic world was as well.
its like member berries nostalgia porn with those two. people loved wolverine so everyone loves the Deadpool movie just because it has wolverine lol.
people loved the t rex and the raptors so everyone loved Jurassic world even if it didn't have a good plot.

I'm not defending this alien movie, but it feels crazy to me that this summer, one movie is being praised for the nostalgia callbacks and then alien is being trashed for the same type of callbacks lol.

the plot of Deadpool was awful ( without describing any spoilers) and barely existing. but it's being praised for the nostalgia callbacks
Deadpool had likable characters I wanted to watch and spend time with. It had call backs but not actual rip offs of the films that came before it. Alien R did this with its dialogue, its props, its camera shots and pulling out characters who are long dead.

Deadpool avoided all that and basically was a cameo filled goof fest but was respectful to its main characters.
Great post.

I was seriously offended by this movie and physically cringed with the disgusting, disrespectful and unimaginative call backs plus with the bastard marriage amalgamation of good lore with bad lore it was like nails on a chalkboard for me.

But there were parts of the movie that were very well done so I get why its getting the praise its getting but I can’t sign off on this movie due to the lack of courage by the filmmakers to create its own identity vs raping the corpse of what came before.

Shame on them.

Plus the characters were meh.

Kids pfft

I didn’t buy into their existence and the paths that were open for them to proceed forward.

Xenobore

But no reason not to listen to those who enjoyed it they have good input to provide.
I’m pretty sure I like this film 30 to 40% more if I liked the characters. I really didn’t care for any of them. I keep reading that everyone liked Andy and I did at first but that stupid concerned, confused, I smell poop face got obnoxious after a while . Main girl was ok but mostly cause she was the high point to the rest of the human characters.
I had no idea that Ash…but not Ash…but Ash was going to show up so when it was revealed I cringed hard.

It’s been 20 years since the Ash model was used!

How many 2004 cars do you see on the road today?

I still don’t think that this movie is as disappointing as opening night of Batman Returns, Alien 3 and Dark Knight Rises but it’s offensive non the less.
Alien 3 was a punch to the balls for sure. I love it now and love the producers cut even more. It’s a ******* masterpiece compared to this last one.
I think it will settle uncomfortably with people over time. There's not much to it as far as revisiting. Once you've seen it, there's nothing to go back for. Once the honeymoon is over for this, it will not be remembered well.
100% agree. No imagination and poor characters will ultimately make this film a distant memory for most when talking about the franchise.
Deadpool did exactly the same.
your original review of Deadpool was correct.
you were correct at first.

it was exactly the same. Deadpool just happens to look at the camera and go "ISN'T THIS FUNNY EVERYONE HEHEHE"

why is Deadpool praised for cringey callbacks and alien doesn't get a pass?
Already stated it.. but good well written characters saved Deadpool. Tell me something about anyone other than the android and main girl other than
Bald Asian one
Caring Brother one
Pregnant girl one
fine fellow one
I think that apt. In time, it will leave people with a sour taste just like TFA did too.
This!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive been saying this!!!

This is TFA of the Alien franchise. Seems like a very Disney thing to do.

so the problem was the trailer?

this movie is like a new The Force Awakens,
because that was another remember berries extravaganza.

so could you guys have liked this alien movie more if the trailers showed you ash and the other remember berries? just like the force awakens did. lol.
Nothing saves the fact they used Sir Ian in one of the worst F/X shots ever.
Ghostbusters afterlife
That movie was an awful mess
Spider-Man no way home
But there was a plot around the callbacks. Not just lines and member berries shots. There was a point and it worked.

Plus…. Likable characters
I'm not saying this movie is great, but this movie follows the exact same set up as force awakens and Jurassic world. and Deadpool wolverine. Ghostbusters afterlife and Spider-Man no way home
I can’t remember Ghostbusters but Alien R did something the other films didn’t do and that was lift actual shots and dialogue in cringy ways from the other films.

I mean this shot???? So goofy. Did the other films you mention basically rip off better shots from the other films.

IMG_3293.jpeg

this movie is just following in those footsteps.
force awakens was worse than this. it was like a literal remake of a new hope.
TFA was garbage and I agree.

A:R just stole plot points and shots from each film in the series. But the story was at least a little different.
but. either nostalgia "remember berries" are bad or not.
because force awakens and Jurassic world and Deadpool made 1 billion with all that nostalgia. yes or yes?
Spider-Man 1 billion.

member? I member
I’ll go to my deathbed on this one. Each film you mention at least had good characters. This film.. Not at all.

It’s hard enough to make a monster that’s been in 8 films before it scary. But if I could care less about the characters then where does the suspense come from??

Hell I like some of the rapist and Murderers in Alien 3 better than these characters. :lol

I also think I would have enjoyed this movie more if it looked more like Prometheus and Covenant and less like Alien.

I could then separate it in my mind more and put it in the Ridley Scott fan fiction series. But having Alien tech, Sir Ian, and mentions of Ripley, the Nostromo, and the original Xeno make it too hard to do that and thus it’s an embarrassment like Ressurectionn

Spoiling the mystery (and therefore the horror) of the Space Jockey as well as the creation of the xenomorphs themselves was a terrible idea. Just terrible.
This!!!

I like the films but I don’t consider them canon.

When I watch A L I E N I never once think about those Giant humanoids, when the find the Space Jockey.

But it easy to dismiss also since the style, look, and Tech is so far removed from the original films and this I can enjoy them as fan fiction.
I like that Romulus doesn't lean too hard into what was revealed in Prometheus and Covenant. Yes Ash (er Rook) says that the goo is life but it wouldn't be the first time that he embellishes the properties of something he admires or outright lies to push things in the direction he wants them to go. So in my mind Romulus fits nicely with ALIEN and ALIENS in a way that allows you to ignore the other films and therefore preserve the mystery of things that should never be explained.
And there is my problem with Romulus. It does fit in with the originals too well.

If it looked like it took place in the same world as the last two Ridley films I probably could have enjoyed more as a sequel to those rather than a sequel / prequel to Alien and Aliens.

Now the dumb stuff like Black goo and Humanoid space jockeys are more of a part of the Alien universe and it feels less like fan fiction.

Ok Alvarez said that “The Line” was HIS idea and admits that he did it to get the same audience reaction that Aliens got and was super relieved when he got it during the test screenings.

Umm does he not read this forum lol

Test screening really….REALLY!

That’s what made him feel comfortable with NOT BEING ORIGINAL and coming up with HIS OWN iconic line! :slap

He could still be lying and it was a studio mandate.

But if it was him how gross that he wanted to use it for the exact same effect from Aliens, like WTF.

It was NEVER going to have the same effect, NEVER!

The young generation should go watch Aliens if they want the same impact we had in 1986.
:lol :lol :lol

The same effect???

Nope not even a little. I mean how could it. The situations were different and one was a set up for a battle and the other a throw away line.

I can’t for the life of me think of who would get pumped after that moment in Alien Romulus

Accept Khev and Crow maybe ;) :lol
