I just can't muster the will to watch this. Star Wars will always mean something to me, like so many people it was a huge part of my childhood. And to be fair, it has been hit or miss for decades, long before Disney was in the picture. Hell, it was Lucas himself who fiddled with the classics and ensured no-one could (legally) enjoy them the way they were released. For me, the main change in this new era is the sheer saturation. That feels like it has devalued each title, it's no longer an event, no longer special. The TV series have only accentuated this feeling. I'm sick of Tatooine, Jawas, and all the other endlessly regurgitated references. I don't hold a grudge against Kathleen Kennedy at all. Her track record has been mixed of course, but this is not new to the franchise, and I'm sure the desire to churn out non-stop content goes above her head.
If I hear good things by the time it wraps up, I may go back and watch the whole show. I'm skeptical though. Shame. I really wanted Ewan to get to play Kenobi in something good. He remains a good choice for the role.
