I think my personal issue with the Reva character is that we've seen an amazing inquisitor story already that followed many of the same beats- BUT had far more emotion in those beats, as well as that character's ability as an antagonist. By ability, I mean rationality- reasonableness for an audience member to connect to. Reva is unreasonable from episode 1 on because she consistently screws up in front of the Grand Inquisitor and gets no repercussions. She literally stabs him in episode 2- so now he is incompetent by proxy.
Compare this to the Second Sister's portrayal in Jedi Fallen Order. She is a cunning warrior, she consistently appears one step ahead of Cal and the crew. She is clever, from the moment we meet her she is a villain we are terrified of. AND THEN we get her absolutely tragic backstory on top of it all (which I very much doubt Reva's could compare). Her arc makes more sense and she is just simply a better version of Reva in every way.
If I had to say my biggest problem- it's that Kenobi is just likely repeating this redemptive arc, but without the emotional weight that the Second Sister had. The seeds were planted in the first scene in Episode 1 for Reva so I'm already preparing for her redemption. With the Second Sister, she was allowed to be threatening and menacing from moment one- and she never acts dumb for plot armour reasons like Reva does. Not checking Owen's mind, yet screaming in his face, is one of those scenes that can't be erased from my mind now, it's just so dumb.
I personally have enjoyed this show overall thus far, but that reminder that a very recent video game followed this arc far more effectively is difficult to accept.
