Super Freak
Awkward, given the series is called Obi-Wan Kenobi.I think this show would have been better not having Kenobi in it at all.

as if the events of ROTS only occurred a week ago instead of 10 years ago.
Exactly! Of course it would have been ideal if Lucas had delivered all this in the PT as you say but he didn't so here we are and I'm just glad that someone is finally delivering with these characters and in a way that does actually elevate the existing PT.Sadly, what you're describing should have been the prequels in the first place. In the prequels, Ob-Wan was a stiff, unlikeable, bore, Anakin's "turn" was laughable and "Darth Vader" was essentially an afterthought.
Yesterday's episode, as flawed as it was in terms of direction and writing, was what people were actually hoping for when Lucas returned to tell more SW stories.
Not just that, he does go after fully trained Jedi… literally fights Obi-Wan, one of the greatest Jedi alive and someone he should know better than anyone.I think Anakin killing younglings in ROTS was necessary to show his complete turn to the dark side. Going after fully trained Jedi, while more impressive could also be viewed as something less than a full turn...IMO.
Obviously he wasn't as young as the younglings in the temple but he was definitely a teenager.
I never hated the moral quandary of Anakin killing children, what always annoyed me is that he should have had bigger fish to fry in that moment. It was like the clones were doing all the heavy lifting in Order 66 and Anakin was just doing clean up work on the easy targets. That's what was the lamest part to me. I would have preferred that the clones took out the kids while Anakin killing full fledged Knights and Masters.
Wow, that's a great point. For whatever reason after all these years it never clicked with me that he deliberately went right to council room looking for masters and was surprised to discover the hiding younglings. And then at that point was all "well ****..."Not just that, he does go after fully trained Jedi… literally fights Obi-Wan, one of the greatest Jedi alive and someone he should know better than anyone.
What I like about the youngling scene is… I don’t think he fully expected it. He went in all angry at the council, ready to show them what he was made of. When he opens that door, the kids come out of hiding… alone. Likely their teachers already killed. They think they’re saved, and that rush to him for help.
There’s that pause there before he ignited the saber. I viewed it as he’d rather have come across full Jedi… but the Padawans were in the wrong place at the wrong time. It very much felt like “oh… it has to be me. Unfortunate.”
The current episode eerily shows how much more comfortable he’s gotten with it.
Yes, which gives new meaning to this line lolAre those his burned testicles in a lava lamp?
Yep. A lot of people don’t realize the youngling scene is in the council room. They, too, probably fled there looking for one of the Masters to protect them.Wow, that's a great point. For whatever reason after all these years it never clicked with me that he deliberately went right to council room looking for masters and was surprised to discovering the hiding younglings. This. I also seem to recall it was Palpatine who told him to head there, so I think it was all part of his plan to make Anakin believe there was no turning back now that he'd chosen the dark side. Going after hard targets (i.e., other Jedi or Jedi masters) could have led to either (a) Anakin dying or (b) being shown he still had a choice, neither of which Palpatine would have wanted to risk happen.I think Anakin killing younglings in ROTS was necessary to show his complete turn to the dark side. Going after fully trained Jedi, while more impressive could also be viewed as something less than a full turn...IMO.
You forgot the most amazing thing of all:I can flatly say that I do not like this series. I think it is cheap, rushed, and poorly directed and acted.
I can also say that I enjoyed seeing Vader being a monster again last night. I will never forget that sequence.
For me, this series is a lot like the PT -- there are some elements that I really like but most of it is near unwatchable for me.
I have witnessed many amazing things in the Disney Star Wars universe:
I saw Leia fly...
I saw Vader go 'rogue' on rebel troopers!
I saw Boba Fett slide across the floor in diapers...
I saw a Rancor be cuddly...
I saw a little 'baby Yoda' tap on the window to go faster...
I saw a young Jedi named Luke Skywalker take out a regiment of Dark Troopers...
I have seen many things that will stay with me forever.
At the risk of getting off-track…You forgot the most amazing thing of all:
You saw Boba Fett fly Slave I into the Sarlacc pit and once again get trapped in it, needing Fennec Shand to save his kiester.
You don't become the greatest movie villain of all time without going the whole nine yards.Wow, that's a great point. For whatever reason after all these years it never clicked with me that he deliberately went right to council room looking for masters and was surprised to discover the hiding younglings. And then at that point was all "well ****..."
When it comes to SW I will never disagree with you…Wait are you agreeing or disagreeing with me, lol.
My point was that I'm fine with Vader taking out soft targets but for heaven's sake just not at the expense of going after hard targets, lol.
Tusken camp = acceptable
Jedi Temple = lame
Obi-Wan show where he kills women, children, and kicks Obi-Wan's ass = Dang...
See to me that puts him into Terminator or Xenomorph or JAWS territory. Doesn't care who you are or what your age is. You cross its path, you're probably dead. That is truly scary.
