One flash of enjoyment I have derived from this hot mess so far was the sight of Vader actually in a rage. He was pissed! Then I was instantly distracted by Reva being Force-choked at an angle, wtf.

I agree that little Leia was also well cast (there have been times I marvel at how she evokes Carrie's Leia...:lol
They did such a great job matching up young Leia with Carrie Fisher as a child whereas George didn't even try to cast someone who looked like a young James Earl Jones.

Thank you, my friend. :duff We seem to be very much on the same page here. :yess:

I agree that Edgerton is a great younger Owen. I agree that little Leia was also well cast (there have been times I marvel at how she evokes Carrie's Leia... even if there are certain line deliveries that are cringe). And I also agree that Tatooine Kenobi in Ep1 was well done.

All of this makes it that much more difficult to stomach how much of the OT lore has been ignored or outright contradicted. If it was entirely awful like BoBF, I would just give it the finger and forget about it; no big deal. But it's more frustrating to see so much promise where I wasn't expecting there to be any and then have to observe such a willingness to mess with and redefine context from the movie that started it all 45 years ago. The first Star Wars (and OT in general) should never be redefined this way.

I have no problem with how the title character has been portrayed, but there's a ton of stuff involving him that I have huge problems with. And there are implications regarding the portrayal of Vader that drive me crazy. Screw Disney! :lol

What do you think of Obi-wan not knowing that Anakin/Vader was still alive?

The fact that all the best stuff was the scene-setting material in the first episode is interesting - those scenes in isolation work for me as canonical ''flashbacks'' if I can just forget everything else. Basically reducing the show to a compilation sequence - much as I would with the PT.

wasn't Bail on Yavin 4? unless I am remembering another character entirely. been years since last watched

edit: though it wasn't clear on screen apparently the character I am thinking of was called vanden willard. so bail could indeed be dead.

He was in RO though which ends just moments before ANH and they had him heading off to tell Leia to contact Obi-Wan as the Rebels were attacking Scarif.

Leia's holo message also gave reason to think Bail was very much alive before the destruction of Alderaan - she spoke in the present tense ''General Kenobi, years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars. Now he begs you to help in his struggle against the Empire.....'' - just going from memory. I haven't consulted QuiGonFishing's ANH screenplay thread to confirm. :lol

Yep they screwed all that up for the sole purpose of shoehorning Reva into the story. They should have had Leia kidnapped by someone other than the Empire so that Kenobi's efforts to rescue her wouldn't be witnessed by Vader and the Inquisitors first hand. Then they could have come up with some other excuse for Obi-Wan and Vader to cross paths that didn't directly involve Leia.

Unless of course they actually try to connect the dots with ANH and have the show end with Vader thinking Kenobi is dead like Wor-Gar suggested.

Could that jibe with ANH dialogue? -

Vader - He is here.
Tarkin - Obi-Wan Kenobi? What makes you think so?
Vader - a tremor in the Force. The last time I felt it was in the presence of my old Master.
Tarkin - But surely he must be dead by now
Vader - Don't underestimate the Force

I suppose it could be said that Vader thought Obi-Wan was dead up until feeling said tremor in the force when they captured the Millenium Falcon with Obi-Wan on board.

Well I read the leaks that have been pretty spot on so far...
Reva is killed by Vader at the end of the finale because she claims to have killed Kenobi (lie).

But seemingly that's been cut to allow for a second season.

I really don't want a second season :lol

You can always...not watch it. You know you really want to though.

nah, they will just have vader tell young tarkin that bail is a jedi sympathiser and needs to be killed. Tarkin will just wait a decade to actually do it because reasons
Tarkin didn't procrastinate - killing Bail was his #2 priority. But finishing the Death Star was #1, and apparently he can't multi-task lol. But when he finally got around to it he made sure he didn't miss, taking out his entire planet. :lol
