Hopefully the final 2 episodes blow everyone away and bring the score up, otherwise this show will have a lower score than TBOBF.... Ouch.

Finally watched the 4th ep. So...what is the deal with lightsaber blades bouncing off of stuff and it takes so many slashes to bring something down? People on Twitter are arguing "Force users need to channel the Force through the blade consciously with concentration, so while Obi is off of his game his blade is weak." I get that a Jedi/Sith could maybe enhance a blade's power with additional effort, which is what I kind of assumed Qui-Gon was doing to the door in Ep I, but by itself a lightsaber blade is supposed to fly through just about anything except comparable energy fields or Beskar. Right? Have I had lightsabers wrong this whole time? o_O

I’m ready for The Boys version of lightsaber damage!

But unfortunately I guess I’ll just have to settle for Vader snapping necks on screen.

Whoa, what? I didn't know that other people shared my crazy theory on lightsaber damage, lol.

But to answer your question I think there's merit in that theory because in ESB Vader was slicing through everything his saber touched but then when Luke finally landed a solid blow on Vader's shoulder it didn't even dent his armor.

Mental Gymnastics can fill any plot hole....

I'll buy that for a fair price. I always thought it was because of a combination of his suit (I've encountered claims that his cape is supposed to be blaster bolt resistant) and Luke's lack of skill + emotional state.

When Han tried to slice open the Tauntaun it shoulda been like trying to cut a steak with a plastic butter knife.

Vader stopped blaster fire with his hand.

Or was if just his hand!

Yeah I know there's Han and the Tauntaun but for me it's easy to assume that a lightsaber isn't so dependent on a Jedi's skill as to be utterly worthless in the hands of a non-Force user. I can picture it at the minimum still being able to cut soft tissue well enough on it's own but if you want it to do more then it requires some skill in the Force. It requires some handwaving for sure, and as more and more stories are told some scenes support my theory (younglings swinging these things around next to classmates while blindfolded?? lol) while others do not (Mando hacking away at giant Annihilator Droids in the BOBF finale with a Darksaber that assumedly has the same rules as a lightsaber.) *shrugs*

Maybe light and darksabers just require a certain degree of confidence from the wielder which Han *did* have with the Tauntaun and Luke did not have against Vader. Who knows, it's fantasy, lol.

I'm just glad that the older I get the less tight of a grip I hold to the notion of perfect continuity and rules that are internally consistent straight across the board. I'm finding that if I simply enjoy the end result there's pretty much no limit to the amount of mental gymnastics I'll do to explain something that seemingly doesn't fit and if I don't like something then I don't even care if it fits with canon or not.

If the rumor is true and Disney is prepping a series for Reva…
Well then Disney can go... I’m looking your way Kathleen Kennedy.

Orrrrr.... lightsabers have the same power no matter who wields them (though the power level can be adjusted like a laser) but Vaders suit is built to withstand sabers since he is a Jedi hunter and the new Kenobi show just simply nerfed Kenobi's saber because they thought it looked cool

Edit: forgot to mention that IIRC vader was hit on armour and saber bounced, but his hand was unarmoured so it cut. No "force enhanced cutting woowoo" needed

Or, perhaps if Disney could hire decent writers and replace the story group with competent people you would not have to make up answers to plot holes.

One can dream.

This is what I was thinking. Isn't there some sort of material that is used to coat the armor to prevent it getting cut instantly by a lightsaber? I think I read about that years ago.

A Reva series could work if it is well written and directed and the actress tweaks the portrayal (less tantrum shouty shouty, more cold, calculating, smart and intimidating). A show about an inquisitor relentlessly hunting Jedi could be very exciting! Disney just needs to put some effort in.

We know they won't. but they could.

I wish to have my low expectations subverted.

Youre thinking that this would be okay, if it were a show written by adults and for an adult audience. Hell, we could say that about the Kenobi show.

I have zero expectations that this will happen.

Beskar Spray on Armor sold at CoruscantMart

Maybe that Jawa lady has some.

Anyway, googling it, there are a few materials that can resist lightsaber attacks. Not really a coating. So maybe Vader's armor is mixed in with one or more of those materials. I doubt stormtroopers or any variation will have the same material in their armor though.
