It might be debatable whether they all knew these were knockoffs . But his casts of mine are noticeably tweaked

There's no excuse for people on here saying that "We had NO idea they were recast". I call BullS****.

It will be another thread that dies out without any common ground decision.
As a group of customizers , it would be good if we could come to a decision on how to treat this or warn off those who make it tough to still love participating here.
Otherwise, what is the point of having this board to share builds?

Posting information on purchase history seems to be crossing the line. I've deleted the posts for now unless I hear otherwise from Darklord Dave.

Please refrain from reposting this information :duff

Given the info is public knowledge and there's even a thread here divulging ebay usernames, I don't see what the issue is. :dunno

That list showing Q customers is BS and it was BS to post such a thing.

How many have bought those cheap Headplay bodies on ebay? I've got prolly 25 of them and know tons of Freaks have as well. Those are recasts of Hot Toys Truetypes. No different than buying recasts of custom sculpts.

Yup. High horses.

Correct me if I'm wrong but does not, or at least didn't iminime use those headplay recast bodies? I'm pretty sure the Neo figure I have from them is on a headplay body.

Some of you sure like to start rumors and conspiracies. :lol

I would say deleting the image is more likely to cause rumors and conspiracies than the posting. I think the image opened a can of worms that perhaps needs to be opened once and for all.

What if Andrew Lincoln bought a sculpt of a Rick Grimes somehow and for whatever reason wanted to recast it?

I was joking earlier, but it does hit at something: who owns Andrew Lincoln's image? The artist who created a sculpt of it, the studio who paid for certain rights to it, or the man himself? To clarify the scenario, if Andrew Lincoln had access to a sculpt of his head made by WGP and wanted to recast it to make a figure of himself -- not for distribution, not as Rick Grimes, just a 1:6 figure of himself for his desk -- would that be okay?

I don't care about legally. Legally the sculpt shouldn't have been made and offered as Walking Dead merch. Ethically.

To argue the artist's rights, I would say no. It is a piece of art. That is forgery or perhaps more like pirating like an illegal download.

However, if Andrew Lincoln painted the recast head, then he would have modified the art to the extent that it is no longer WGP's exclusive work.

Of course this thread has been more about the distribution of recast heads. I think pretty much everything has already been said on the subject. Although I would add that if someone made a recast of an oop, unavaliable head and wanted to trade it to someone for a recast of a similarly unavailable head, I would be hard pressed to be morally outraged.

It's because all the heads he's selling originated from The Sideshow Freaks, and our artists.

they are not mass produced bodies from HT
