I've never watched a single moment of McCoy, beyond clips in documentaries or the new series.

Hmmmm... I just had an unexpected windfall due to ebay, amounting to about £90. If Ten is coming before Christmas then I'll want to put this towards Ten... if he's arriving after Christmas then I'll want to spend it before Christmas, because I'm sure to get some money at Christmas anyway. What do I do?

Oh yeah... shout 'just hurry up and announce the shipping date, BC!!!!!!!!'

And here you illustrate perfectly my problem with budgeting for BC's products. I don't particularly want to pay them months in advance for products which might be out in 2 months or 12. And if the figures won't be out for 2,4,6 months, I don't want to skip buying other things that I want to spend my money on.

Whenever they finally announce that they're ready to release one of these, I'll have to scramble to get the money ready. It's very difficult when the estimated release dates are so completely meaningless.

This is the big reason why I didn't grab the Sherlock Holmes figures and why I won't pre-order anything else from BC until I get 4 and 10. I can't have all of this uncertainty about when I will have to make large payments.

If you know they are making it and you know it won't be ready by the "estimated" release date, it gives you plenty of time to save your pennies and plan to expect that it will be coming down the pipe. I've already paid off my Signature Four and like the comfort of knowing I owe nothing by the time it ships but I can certainly understand not wanting to pre-order or make installment payments. There are plenty of options for everyone. If you know they are making it then you know how much funds to expect to have saved by the time they finally release it. And the delays only give you extra time to save.

All true. My problem is that I want more things than I could ever afford. I regularly have to choose which of the items which I want I can get and which I can skip.

If I have to buy two deluxe figures in December, then I pass on other things which I would have otherwise wanted. If the Doctor Who figures won't be out until March, then I could get one or two of the other things I want and have extra time to save.

Yeah.... I wish I only had one interest like Doctor Who OR Star Wars OR Hellboy OR DC OR eating OR girls OR or or or. Basically, there's a plethora of amazing releases coming out. I can't have it all, but I can have some of it. If the release dates were closer to accurate, then I would have an easier time planning.

Unlike you, I'm not comfortable lending a company payments like that for what might be an extended time. I do it with Sideshow, but their estimated dates are USUALLY (but not always) within a month or two of the correct date. Lending a company a significant amount of money for a nebulous 6 months or more beyond the original estimated release date is not something I'm comfortable doing. Even now, in November we don't know if we'll see anything in November, December, or March. EDIT: And frankly, the fact that last time I bought something from these guys they ignored all emails until I got PayPal involved makes me cautious about paying them outside of the PayPal protection window.

I mean, I'll do it. I'll produce the money when they call for it. I'm not missing out on these two signature editions. I'm just saying it's not a customer-friendly way for them to handle things.

Hartnell may be historically significant, but his look doesn't scream "most own!" But perhaps I'm just partial to Davison because it was only he and T. Baker I watched as a kid. And his was the start of the outfits getting silly.

As for Eccleston - definitely be down for him, but he's not as visually interesting either.

Depending on timing and price, I'd be up for all three. Pertwee is my next must have, then those 3.

Agreed. The thing is, if they only kept us updated about shipping dates we wouldn't have to worry so much about budgeting. The uncertainty makes it hard. They feel they've sorted that problem by giving you the option to make a series of payments or pay in advance, but I'm just not comfortable doing that. Therefore I have to guess when Ten is coming. I understand that release dates change but as long as they update us on that too then I don't see the problem.

The limited visual appeal of Hartnell (perhaps, compared to some) is part of the reason why a lot of us wanted him to be offered for the anniversary and why (hopefully) BCS agreed to it. It's the best time to do it, really, while nostalgia is high.

This would also be the best time to do Troughton - hell, a Hartnell and Troughton doublepack would enable them to make economies of scale (the same material for shirts, coats and maybe even the trousers).

A well done Hartnell could be visually stunning. But the key is that he HAS TO be able to grab his own lapels. That's mandatory!

will 10(sans signature ver) be available at retail sites like we saw with 11?

Not this version. But it looks as though the blue suited variant will be sold at retail sites. At least that was the plan a few months ago.

Fully decked out with the wool hat, cape, walking stick, left hand gripping the coat lapel and his head indignantly cocked back, he would look very impressive on a shelf imo.

And since he was an old man with very angular features I would have thought the sculpt was virtually impossible to get wrong.

Though I do find it funny to imagine what Hartnell would have said on seeing a figure of himself with oriental skin colouring...

^lol!

i see pics of 11 where the paint on the headsculpt looks great skin-tone wise and matches the hands then others that are horrible and more of a tan orange color.

is it just the photos and lightning or are some just that bad?

The only general complaints I recall were that many sculpts seemed to have a dark wash on them or else the dye from the bowtie bled on to the chin of the headsculpt.
