So reports of a missle attack last week with DNA confirmation and according to Obama it was a firefight today? Why can't we get a straight answer.

I don't know what channel you are watching but everything I'm seeing says the attack was today and that DNA has proved it is Bin Laden.

If it was indeed a firefight I can't imagine the feeling of winning that battle, entering the compound and finding a dead ____ing Bin Laden layed out. Such an awesome moment for whoever was involved. I really hope it was a firefight and not a missle strike.

Amazing speech. One thing I hope everyone keyed in on was the fact that Obama made it clear this wasn't a war on Islam and we were able to kill Bin Laden by working in conjunction with the Pakistani authorities. News like this should unite, not divide.

I'd buy everyone a beer, but at my age, the best I can score is a Vanilla Coke. Eh, not complaining.

The President made an address a half hour ago saying it was a firefight. No mention of a missile attack. It doesn't get much more straight than that.

ben ladin was killed in a strike against him permitted by Obama, and its a confirmation that was done by Obama himself from the white house.

details were just given over CNN about how exactly it went down....

on a more personal note if got only this to say

_____ YES about god damn time..... its a day i never thought that would come , i expected for him to become an eventual past memory and have him die somewhere without us knowing and have him never get what ,is in my opinion just justice , so having the news come along to me tonight and to everyone that he is dead... lets just say that nothing makes me happier then that news and its going to go down as the moment that we got the justice we wanted, asked for, and finally got... im sure that i am not alone thinking the same and that are celebrating this news

I heard it was a firefight. There was talk about them using Predator missiles to scope out his location, but the story goes that a small US team moved in after Obama gave the okay, won said firefight with no casualties on their side, and took the body into custody.

I listened to it but the news was out well before his speech and it was all reported the same. They were saying he was killed last week in a bomb attack in Pakistan and they have been awaiting the results of a DNA test to confirm it. The whole firefight thing didn't start getting reported until after the speech. Not straight enough for me.

ABC says it was a "small team" of probably 20-30 special forces troops that came in and did the job "on the ground". This was not a joint operation with the Pakistanis, in part out of fear that there might have been a tip-off if the U.S. told the Pakistani government too soon (apparently they told the Pakistanis after the operation had begun). Bin Laden was, at least, shot in the head.
