I think the story in 2 was much better... I was more emotionally attached and felt like I was part of the story more than in the first. In the first one, most of the game you're just being lead around by Atlas doing his bidding and there really isn't a story to the actual gameplay, just his motives... at least, that is how I saw it.

I liked 2 enough to have already played through it twice, and will soon start through again on Hard.

I just though the first was more orginal and being a puppet is kind of relevent as you are guiding the protagonist around with your control pad.

I definitely think the last 2-3 hours of this one are much, much better than the original game's ending. And I also like the fact that there isn't a ridiculous endgame boss like last time. The ending of BioShock 2 is just better, period. I even got more of an emotional impact out of the final cinematic.

Well, this one is a bit of a copy of the first so bs1 is more original. The sorry though with this one is like that though as you find out just how attached you are to Eleanor. You have that connection to her and your job is to protect her no matter what. That's why you go through all that for her in the game, and it's even a bit like the first in you're lead atoms by her. Plus you have that great set up with the gameplay and the graphics. That's why I think this one is better.

Oh yeah plus some awesome mp helps

Question - finished the game last night on good (saved all Little Sisters and major characters) and was a bit confused at the ending.

Do you die from injuries in the bomb blast or does Eleanor actually kill you? I saw some of the bad endings - and it looks like she's killing him - but with the good ending it looks like he might be on his last breath already and she just takes his DNA or whatever. If she is actually killing him - so he can always be with her - then that's f'd up. I didn't save all those damn fools so my "daughter" could kill me in the end. :lol Next time I'm saving all the little sisters (I just can't harvest them) and killing everyone except Gracie.

My take:

You're already dead (the self-inflicted gunshot 10 years earlier). But Eleanor has somehow retained your soul and "essence" within the Adam. This is how she revives you at the beginning of the game, and she does it to save you again at the end, which also may be necessary because of the death as well as the coma that happens towards the end of the game.

My first time through, I saved all the little sisters and Gracie, but killed Stanley and Gil, but I seemed to get the same good ending as my second time through saving everyone. My take is that you are dying and she can't save you, but she can keep you with her forever...

Well that makes sense.

It did seem like he was dying when they surfaced. I was just bummed out by it though. I hate it when my character dies...even if it is a "good death".

You meant Eleanor, not Ellen right?? ;)

Yeah, thats what I meant. Was talking to a coworker named Ellen when I posted that. :lol

That would be my take as well.

Finished my first playthrough on hard the other day, which was a ***** and breezed through it on easy to get the remaining achievements. All I need now is 5 MP achievements to complete this one.

I think Bioshock might be my favorite video game franchise of all time, even more than Gears which I love. There's something about Rapture that I totally get engulfed in.

Is it just me or does this game feel like it drags on for too long? It feels a lot longer than the first Bioshock. I've been in Fontaine Futuristics for about an hour now. I hope I'm nearing the end.

It's just you. I never wanted this one to end.

I guess so, ill. I haven't had a chance to sit down for a long play through, so I've been playing on and off since last tuesday. Maybe that's why it feels so long.

I'm also not keen on having to repetitively protect the sisters while they gather adam. How many times must you make me do this? Argh.

Had fun playing the MP with you guys tonight when things worked right. Gotta keep working on the ranking up ones since I got the all maps played finally. Also got to get beat the game on hard and beat it without using the VC.

I didn't think it was too long either, but it is longer than most other similar games. It took me about 20 hours of play-through the first time, but of course, I was searching every nook and cranny for stuff. The second time through took just a little less.

The game only "makes" you protect little sisters 3 times... :D

Seriously, there are either 2 or 3 little sisters per level.
