Getting ahead of myself, as the LOTR PF line seems to be moving at a snail’s pace, but I wonder what “hero” PF will be “paired” with the Black Orc of Mordor?

So far we have the Moria Orc, Frodo, Legolas and Gandalf the Grey from the Mines of Moria; Lurtz and Aragorn from Amon Hen, and the Morgul Lord and Gandalf the White from the Siege of Gondor.

Of course, this is dependant on Sideshow doing this, as we don’t have a hero counterpart of the Uruk-Hai Berserker form Helms Deep. Galadriel stands alone as well.

Yeah, after that whole thing with the Moria Orc's duds, the fear is understandable. I like the pics shown, so I hope the final is as close to them as possible.

As tempting as it is, I already own one Santa-themed Orc.....

So judging by the pictures the exclusive comes with the hammer and the a swap out head as well?

Looks pretty nice, with an ES of 350 this should sell out quickly I would think.

I definitely prefer the more subdued head I think, less over the top.

Any particular reason this guy is running downhill?

Finally, the one detail I never thought I would key in on is the bottom of the foot. At first I thought it was a bare foot which would have been really cool design work there: bare foot orcs running with armor covering the shins and tops of the feet.

But it does look like an armor bottom, but very Medieval and homemade looking, very cool.

Skin color choice seems to be a bold move.

Agreed, with an ES of 350 the excl. won't last long. As for the skin colour, the colouring of the Mordor Orcs was all over the map and some difinitely had that ashen look.

I definitely like the exclusive head much better as well as the hammer. I have a feeling the regular might be available for less on the open market.

This is always my beef, gone round and round on other threads about this topic. I know people have budgets to deal with but for me I love instant collectible gratification - so order on Thursday delivery within the month would be great. Shoot you could save the pennies at the line art stage with a good estimate of when the piece will ship at that point. I suppose the 10% down covers any loss of interest and resulting cancelled orders (I'm less thrilled about gollum at this point, but 30 bucks lost already so...)

Back to the drooling now...

I just got into collecting LOTR (just ordered Morgul Lord) and this piece looks better than I expected. The 350 count of the Exclusive should make this hard to come by in the future...I'll be ordering one!!!

Im on the fence...while he looks awesome I would have prefered a helmet over just a snarling face. I'll wait and see on this one, maybe down the road SS will do Gothmog.

Not sure about the second head, though. Yes, it's different, but not quite different enough to warrant a second sculpt, in my opinion.

Here's a wild idea ... and this is just me blue-skying here ...

Wouldn't it have been cool if they'd done a different second head? I don't mean a different expression. I mean a whole different head. Completely different orc design. Since this statue is not of any particular orc, that could have been a nifty option!

But make no mistake, I'm certainly not complaining! I'm digging this guy. He's definitely coming home with me!




(Didn't they say they were going to start including mini-bases for swap-out bits? Like with Gollum? Not quite yet, I guess. )

Totally different head and perhaps several arms placements (with different weapons inserted into the hand) could equal a veritable army of Mordor orcs.

I'm surprised they did a second sculpt with so little difference as well. I'm not sculptor but this suggests a component based approach: finish the head, cast it, then scoop out the mouth and do another one. Are the eyes and hair any different?

Thought about this, but while it would be cool, it wouldn't make much sense. The primary reason for two different sculpts would be to tempt collectors to order multiple PFs to display two "different" orcs. However, with the exact same pose, it negates the illusion of having two different orcs. Perhaps in the future Sideshow will come out of left field and come out with a "customizable" PF with different head sculpts and weapons as well as modular extremities...but I doubt it.
