Great poster indeed.
I didn't like the whole yellowy washed out thing tho... played with colors and contrast a bit:

Sorry, I spotted few issues here and there and had to fix them.
Everything is a blur when you do this late night. :lol

After the unbridled hype amongst sci-fi geeks and film nerds, I finally decided to give this a try.

First thing that hit me like a ton of bricks is the gorgeous production design and attention to detail.

The second thing is how slow and plodding it it.

Both could be said about the original though. I've come to really love the original but no joke, it took me about 5 tries to get through it cause I kept falling asleep. The middle really drags, but the opening shots, Ford at the noodle shop, and of course the all time classic rooftop soliloquy are cinematic legends.

I know some people think the sequel is even better. I don't know. It sure as hell LOOKS beautiful though. You can see where the money went. But I'm of the opinion that looks aren't enough in a movie. The characters and story need to suck you in right from the first five or ten minutes, and a lot of "artsy" movies intentionally don't do that. And that results in audiences staying away.

Edit: aaaannd I'm out. I gave it a full hour. This is the cinematic equivalent of horse tranquilizer but less fun. A gorgeous turd is still a turd. I don't give a crap about the characters or story. Utter fail on the filmmakers' part. Ryan Gosling staring into space for minutes at a time. No thanks. I'm sure I'll be accused of "just not getting it" but I just call it like I see it. Slow paced movies are fine if there's compelling characters or story...this is just ******y. No wonder people stayed away in droves.

I really don't see how anyone could dislike this movie. But then again movies like Black Panther have 99% on rotten tomatoes so what do I know.

For people who aren't into films like this, the Fast and the Furious franchise is still going strong! There's something for everyone out there.

All art, including movies, is subjective.

I understand a lot of you LOVE this movie, and my opinion in no way diminishes or belittles that you love you feel.

I'm just saying it didn't work for me.

I don't like mindless car chases or paper thin plots dumbed down to the point where the least intelligent audiences members can shove mouthfuls of popcorn into their faces and go "huh huh.....***! Funny!" But I just found it TOO slow. TOO meandering. TOO navel gazing. And did you miss how I said how incredibly gorgeous the film LOOKED?

Two of my favorite movies from the past decades were also considered "slow" by the masses.

Ever see "In The Bedroom?" To me that's one of the most gripping, well-acted dramas I've ever seen. It's a depressing film and not easy to watch a lot of scenes, but I absolutely adored the movie and the performances.

Same with "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford." It's slow, it's methodical....but the characters feel real, and it builds towards something. Again, one of my rare favorites from the last decade.

I' glad you enjoyed 2049 but for me it was just a painful experience. I hope we can all just agree that we have different and nuanced taste in films and that doesn't make anyone's opinions "better" than anyone else's.....just different.

Are you really so dense that I need to preface every single sentence with IN MY OPINION in huge letters to know I'm not speaking for everyone as if I'm somehow the Lord of all of Moviedom?

Also, what the hell is Kahkira....you seem to keep mentioning it over and over? Are you 9 years old? Do you think making a portmanteau of the words "Akira" and "****" is going to give weight to your argument?

Wow, some stranger thought my favorite movie is "poopy"....guess I better not like it anymore.

I stand by what I said. You can watch AKIRA on mute and still be completely enthralled by the hyper kinetic energy and intricate hand drawn animation the likes of which have never been matched.

You can watch 2049 on mute if your sominex hasn't kicked in and need help falling asleep.
