Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

My wife and I spent a weekend in Kansas City last year but never made it over to TW. Maybe next trip. :( We did find a horrible comic book store near our hotel though I can't remember the name of it. When we came in I saw he had some comics in the back so I was trying to see behind him. He had the 1st appearance of Professor Zoom that he pulled off the wall to show me (even though I didn't ask to see it). I asked him how much and he said it wasn't for sale--just from someone's collection that let him put it on display at his store. So then I wandered around the store and found a pretty decent statue display. He had a lot of pieces out of the boxes with price stickers on some but not others. There were also price stickers all over the shelves that had fallen off and not been cleaned up. When I asked about prices for a couple things he said they were pieces from someone's collection and not for sale. He did that with three different things then I finally told him that maybe he should put his "museum" stuff in a display separate from the stuff he had for sale and clean up the stickers on the bottom of the display. I don't think he was going to sell me anything after that so we just left. :lol

It'd be a wonder if that guy is still in business, being that he doesn't seem too interested in actually selling anything.

It was ridiculous. I was more than ready to spend some money, but apparently all the stuff I wanted was too good to be for sale. Even if I had my local comic book store display some of my stuff, I'd let the owner know a price I'd sell it for if someone came in and wanted it. I can't imagine having any of my collection on display in a store and thinking no one is going to be interested in buying some of it at some point.

When a comic book lover buys a comic book store.....he will lose. Capitalist first if you gonna run a business.

If you sell an Action Comics number one, and they rich dude that buys it decided to burn it in front of you.....well that the price of business.

If you covet everything you sell as priceless , run a museum.

hmmm....do you remember the name of that store? I live in Kansas City.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Wow that's nuts!!! Over $20 in Comics!!

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

A man in his forties stealing $20 worth of comics and killing a guy in the process? Honestly, I'm kinda curious what titles he stole.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I'm not surprised he passed defending a handful of comics. Especially after your story Zod. It's too bad. None of this craps worth dying for.

A man has a right to defend his property, at least in the free world.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I'm sure he was a nice enough guy to people he liked, but I was irritated with him for getting irritated with me because I was asking for prices for stuff in his store. Then again, maybe he was a crotchety ******* that should have opened a museum. I am curious as to the circumstances of someone stealing $20 in comics from him. They couldn't have been anything special--just normal monthly comics or "meh" back issues--because nothing good was within reach of a customer. Not like you want people coming in stealing from you, but if an armed robber comes into your store you have to decide that the stuff just isn't worth it.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

As I understand it, he pulled a gun and chased the robber.. who had gotten into his car to drive off. The car door ended up knocking him over and he smacked his head on the ground. That ended up giving him a heart attack and he died. It also took a really long time for the ambulance to get there to help him.

Years ago when I first met Steve I switched over all my pre orders from sideshow/bbts to Timewalker and haven't looked back. I live right down the road from the storefront and enjoy seeing everything in person... as they say jpgs don't do most things justice.

If twenty bucks is worth dying for then sure. Pointless death in my opinion.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Well, this thread took a dark turn.

Well to be fair the owner didn't know he was going to die. I find it very irritating when people get upset over a thief being harmed or killed in the process of theft. Don't steal and problem solved, the victim shouldn't have to stand the loss or risk their own safety over concern of the well being of a crook.
