So it's ONLY mixed media if pollystone is used? Where would one get such a narrow-minded view? Seriously, that is narrow-minded if you're saying that mixed media means it MUST include pollystone.

Dude, don't waist your time. You can't change someone's oppinion although all he does is try to do that.

Re: MY BOBA FETT JUST SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!

I still can't believe there's a debate. I figured the lines were drawn, sides were taken and we all agreed to disagree? Anyway, congrats to those who like this fig, to those who don't....who cares, money saved! I'm not getting it and opting for the smaller plastic Fett option. BUT, seriously if Medicom wasn't blasting 1 out, I'd consider hunting one down for a deal.

Re: MY BOBA FETT JUST SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!

Matt those are very good pictures and does show the positives of this statue. There are a lot of details and the weathering of the mixed media looks good.

I didn't buy this, but then the only SS SW item I will be getting is the Yoda 1:1 bust.

Still can't understand how SS could not at least color coordinate the Fett bucket with his body armour, it is very obvious.

I am not really trying to change his mind. Just pointing out that it's a FACT that mixed media means using different materials to make a product. Those materials can be ANYTHING.

I have no clue where "mixed media" became "POLLYSTONE plus other stuff".

Right mixed media means as you said different materials and that could be anything. So as Dave said really the 1:6th are mixed media. I think the whole MM=Polystone comes from the label of Premium Format. Since they don't consider "other" plastics premium anything less is considered taboo. Then I think wait Polystone is a PLASTIC. Ah well.

Re: MY BOBA FETT JUST SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!

All I know is, mine will be here Monday and I can't wait to finally see this thing in person. These pics really make it look like one of the better PF's to be released thus far.

Again you throw unwarranted insults by accusing my opinion to be narrow minded. I am trying hard to be civil and respectful but you simply aren't even trying to be either.

The term mixed media has always been associated with PF statues that include polystone, leather, and metal. Somewhere along the line, advocates of Boba Plastic are trying to convince people that a PF statue is OK to be simple fabric over ABS plastic. Now you are trying to convince people 12" figures made of ABS are considered mixed media because they may have a belt made of leather or an accessory made of metal? Sorry Kit, we're not buying your line of crap.

I don't try to change anyone's opinion. What others believe aren't a concern of mine whatsoever. Unless you're talking about Dave and Kit trying to get people to rally around the notion that Boba Plastic and 12" figures are mixed media.

People can believe anything they want to. Some of us are smarter than that and don't subscribe to whatever they read on an internet forum. Maybe you have mistaken my replies as trying to convince people otherwise when I'm simply voicing the insult upon my intelligence.

You need to relax. I said you havea narrow-minded view on this topic. If you feel that's the same as calling you an ass licking retard then fine, that's your opinion.

Also, it's not a "line of crap" and I am not asking you to buy anything. I am stating a fact that you don't want to accept. I don't buy you "line of crap" either about mixed media REQUIRING pollystone because YOU say so. SS never said that, but yet you seem to act as if there was some policy in place that says this and there isn't. Period.

I need to relax? Seems to me that you hate to read or accept that someone else has an opinion other than your own. I have my views, you have yours. You are not wrong for thinking differently and while I can appreciate your opinion, I can't appreciate the way in which you deliver it. Get a life Kit.

I am fine with you having an opinion, but when your opinion conflicts with facts then you need to be informed of that or risk making a fool of yourself ( let me guess, I am insulting you again? )

I am sorry if bringing facts to light offends you, but you need to accept that there is not and has never been any policy that states "mixed media" = pollystone use in the product.

I have been seriously buying and selling all kinds of collectibles for around 3 years now. A few days ago, Darklord Dave referred to 12" figures as mixed media. First time I have ever heard a 12" figure considered to be mixed media. Now you are expressing your opinion on this 'fact' like a full court press.

Start a poll and if the majority of collectors here consider a 12" figure as well as a PF statue mixed media, I will as well. But I just have to tell you, it will be hard to prove 'fact' that fabric over ABS will be considered traditional mixed media. Good luck.

Re: MY BOBA FETT JUST SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!

Very often I will create an image using watercolors and then chalks. Sometimes I'll even tweak the image in photoshop or uses some acrylics.
I've sculpted a handful of items with clay, wood, rock and bone.

Evidently I don't do any mixed media work because I don't use polystone. :emperor

If you took the time to read the entire thread, you'd feel embarrassed about your post. The debate is what is and is not considered mixed media for SS Collectibles.

Most everything in America is made from more than one material, from the cars we drive, to the houses we live in, to the computer keyboard you're typing on.

But should a 12" ABS figure that has a cloth outfit and leather belt be considered mixed-media, even though it does consist of more than one material? Polystone was a collectibles standard set by Sideshow for their PF statues. Their description of mixed media included leather, metal and other premium materials to create their 'finest' collectibles.

So now I am going to climb in my mixed media truck, drive to my mixed media house, and watch some mixed media TV.

Re: MY BOBA FETT JUST SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!

Kodai now you're stretching it just to stretch it. We're not talking about Fact is yes the 1:6th figures from SS are mixed media. No, they're not labeled that way but if the bodies where polystone you would be all in agreement. Like I said fact is they're mixed media. SS does not have to use polystone in a piece with other materials for it to be considered mixed media or premium format.

Re: MY BOBA FETT JUST SHIPPED!!!!!!!!!

So...how do you define Mixed Media Kodiak? To me it means at least different types of materials. I would suspect that the reason sideshow started using this term for PF is to distinguish the use of cloth clothing as opposed to an all polystone statue a la LOTR.

Alice, I think dealing with this type of business has so many intricacies that there is no way any of us on here can really do more than speculate about whether this was fairly on unfairly priced. It's quite possible sideshow had a higher profit of margin on this figure than the other PF's it is also possible that sideshow made less on this figure than other PF's, I would argue is possible, but not probable that they might have taken a hit on this figure.

SS doesn't describe their 12" figures as mixed media. Why should anyone talking about SS 12" figures? Yes, they do use other materials than ABS plastic, but this difference of opinion started over the Boba Plastic PF which is basically ABS and cloth. I think we are all guilty of stretching what is and isn't in this debate.

Mixed media is The Force. It is everything around us and within us. Everything we use, all that we are made of...the entire planet is mixed media. Now if we are describing the SS PF statue, mixed media IMHO is a little more than just cloth and ABS.

You're correct nobody refers to the 1:6th stuff as MM. However, even before today I've thought of them as MM pieces. They're so nicely done IMO they're a little more than the standard 1:6th stuff you can get. The point is that the Boba Fett while made with ABS instead of Polystone (plastic) is still a MM PF.
