Boromir arrived yesterday and last night I took him out of the box and set him up. In my opinion, he's not only the best in the series so far, but probably the best SS 12" released yet.
I've got him presently set up on top of my display case, along with the other two LOTR figs and my host of SS Star Wars figures and he totally blows them away. All eyes are immediately drawn to him.
The detailing on the outfit is simply amazing. The gear such as the sword and belt, knife, shield and horn are beautifully captured in 1/6th scale.
The orc head is well sculpted and painted. Not sure if it's resin or poly, as it does have some heft to it.
My only gripe is with the Lothlorien cloak, particularly with the tight fitting clasp at the neck. Because of the collars on his outfit, the cloak is simply too narrow at the neck and I managed to break off the leaves of Lorien broach while trying to put it back on after ironing out the wrinkles. But to be honest, I think he looks better without it! (unlike Legolas.) I'll probably either redo the clasp or simply pass the cloak over to Aragorn. Not sure yet.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: I would give up the Star Wars line in a heartbeat if I had to chose between the two. Only wish this line would move faster. Can't wait for Faramir and more announcements now!
