The hair will definitely depend on tastes. I love the way it looks on him, but I can totally see where others would think otherwise. I'm glad people have different opinions, it makes me scrutinize mine more carefully and consider all of the subtleties of it more. It gives me a lot more love for this guy to see potential weaknesses pointed out! All in all I will say though I mean every word about this figure. Amazing.

I too was impressed by the hair. It seemed layered like it just wasn't one big blob of hair like Aragorns but rather a few layers of hair. For example, he has hair around his ears and above/on top of them. Boromir has been a favorite character of mine since I saw FotR for the first time and I must say this figure is awesome! Best in the line so far I think. Can't wait for his brother and the rest of the fellowship. The first pic I plan on taking of Faramir when he comes is giving his brother a big hug. :D

Great Photos guys. Boromir looks great, I get mine today, can't wait. Faramir looks like he is also going to rock! This line is really coming along nicely. I can't wait for it to pick-up. :chew

judging from pics, i must say, overall, he looks to be the best of the line.I retract what I say about the prototype at toyfair. He does look good.

Yup. I regret not having a good enough paying job to afford the SW and the LOTR line. That Boromir is amazing.

Great pics Wor-Gar and nice review Ed!

I agree! Mine should be in the mail today!! :)

Great pics and review guys. My exclusive should be arriving today.

Personally I don't mind the pace at which they are producing these figures. They obviously require more time than other lines to find the necessary materials as well as tool, train and coordinate for mass production. I just hope they continue this line and we get some announcements soon as I've recently decided to drop the Star Wars line (look for my thread in the "For Sale" forum shortly) . Although it was a tough decision, financially, it made sense not to mention the fact that overall, I favor the LOTR IP.

I hope Boromir is waiting on my front step tonight when I get home from work. I just hope the one I had Sarah order arrived too, so that way Aragorn can get his cloak and bracers!

Captain, I don't think you are being melodramatic in your description in the least, as my own appreciation for these figures usually mirrors what you have written. I just like reading something well-written like that with some passion behind it. You also see some downsides, but always focus on the positive and that is a nice thing to see!

Okay, spent some time with Boromir, and let me say he is a near perfect figure!!!!

I LOVE him! It seems Sideshow has found their footing with the LOTR 12" line. Aragorn was flawed in many ways IMO. Legolas was MUCH better than Aragorn, and Boromir follows the trend. He so much better than I though he was gonna be.

When I saw the proto pics I thought there was just to much for SS to screw up in production. But I was wrong. Man was I wrong.

Costume is a 10. A perfect 10.

The silk shirt is awesome. It catches the light really nicely and makes for interesting shadows under different lighting conditions, not sure if that makes any sense. The small print on it is also really well done. The faux chainmail is really good, and excels in this scale. The leather jerkin is equally impressive.

The sculpt is top notch, and has been given a pretty damn good paint app too. Subtle highlights in his beard and eyebrows look great.

The Orc head is by far the best exc. so far. The detail and paint apps are perfect.

There just isnt much wrong with this figure. About the only thing I found worth complaining about was the sword. Its very thin and bendy, and came with a very large curve in it. I would have liked it to have been made a bit thicker.

I give this figure a 10!!!!! 4 stars!!!!

Just received mine as well. I was surprised by the paint app on his hair/beard actually. Kudos to Sideshow for this one. One thing that keeps gnawing at me though is why they still resort to using velcros on the box flaps. I mean. Star Wars have had the magnets on their flaps for a while now. I don't believe magnets weigh that much!

As much as I don't consider myself a stickler for details, one thing that caught by eye was the print description on Boromir's accessories, particularly the blurb on the shield. Someone at Sideshow could have done a spell-check on the word "rivited". And what the heck is a "leather guige"?

I agree. Everything about this figure just screams perfect. The detail in the clothing is just the best work I've ever seen on a figure of this scale especially. It honestly looks like what he wore during FOTR it's that detailed. The likeness is Sean Bean no doubts about it. The horn, sword, and knife are all amazing looking and life like IMO. The shield is more impressive than whats on the SSW statue so I agree with Dave on that. The Orc Head just might be best exclusive ever done by SS. Just plain nutty the detail on this figure.

I disagree that Aragorn was as bad as most. It was a good figure. Not perfect but really nice. Legolas was even better and showed where the line was headed and Boromir is the cherry on top and is what I think we all expected from this line.

Pics to come in a min.

Great pics, KD!

This seems like THE piece to own from LOTR right now!

Thanks WG.

And I agree, this is by far the stand out right now! I'm really anticipating Faramir now, I was on the fence about keeping him, but not anymore!

That's right people! Faramir must be the greatest 1/6 figure ever made! Sideshow, you've set your standard, now PLEASE I BEG YOU carry it just one step more for Faramir! Please don't drop the ball on him! Boromir is such an awesome figure; may Faramir exceed even he!
