Bowen Designs SILVER SURFER Faux Bronze is Unveiled!

I get the appeal of some of the FB, but I'm just not feeling this one. Silver Surfer in any color except silver just doesn't work IMO.

But, it's great for the folks that don't have this beautiful sculpt. If I didn't already have mine, I would probably buy this and send it off to the chromers myself.

Pass for me. No bronze in my Surfer statues. Bowen did it right with the first 2 museum statues. They look great. The bronze.....not so much.

When I look at that statue I see a semi-naked man with a surfboard... I am a huge, huge Silver Surfer fan, and that folks, is not who's being represented there.

If there was any doubt some studios -- and it is sad to see that BD is one of them apparently -- would do anything for money, then a piece like this kills that doubt. Maybe next we'll see a Captain America statue swaddled in the union jack, or -- a bit more off-point but similarly bizzare -- a Batman statue holding a kalashnikov.

Utterly ridiculous.

Nonetheless, good luck to everyone that gets this piece.

I think the sculpt is great and I would love to see this in person since the FB statues are nearly impossible to rate via pictures IMO.

I think the issue with FB surfer is that Silver Surfer is associated with a specific and already metallic color. Silver Surfer is basically a generic looking guy with a surf board that just happens to be completely silver. Which means that FBing him takes away a key identifiers for the character.

I would buy that. Seriously I think all of the FB pieces are really nice, and they are a line of their own. They look great displayed together, and I hope Bowen continues to put them out.

I agree with you! The FB line is an excellent alternative to the painted statues. I'm kicking myself for not getting the FB Iron Man directly from Bowen. I definately wan't to pick up FB bucky to go with my FB Cap!

I had the Paint versions of Thor and Cap, and IMO, the FB pieces are loads better. Sometimes the paint on Bowen pieces can be very off. Just look at the Smackdown hulk, the FB version is a much better option.

i'm with you on that. Side by side comparison, the Faux Bronze color is so much better than the dull tone.

This is a beautiful statue with a FB treatment.

The chrome is still rank #1, and then comes the FB, and last...the dull silver color.

I gotta get this one....
