Bowen has been making full size statues and mini busts of Marvel characters since around 1998. At that point no one was making anything quality in the way of Marvel high end collectibles that really caught on with solid numbers, yet still limited enough to be collectible. He's still in business and has loads of fans. As well as imitators. he isn't following any one else's lead. But lots of folks have followed his. While Sideshow's stuff is superior, if not for Bowen showing that this could be done successfully, well....
Also, in 1998 Sideshow was only making Universal monsters 8" figures. They've come far. So has Bowen Designs. Bowen deserves a little respect. His items still seem to command a good selling price on the secondary market. There are exceptions. Kraven, anyone? Howabout Bucky? The Abomination is a companion piece to his Hulk II statue. The one he did in bronze. It's not a 1/4 scale to fight the Sideshow Hulk. Amen.
