UPDATED 5.28.09: "...A True Work of Art!", "Fantastic!", "Total Winner!" These are the reactions coming in as the Buck Rogers figures are now landing for direct customers! While I am not readying myself for any award speeches, I want to offer my public thanks to the gifted people instrumental in making this possible Tony, Lily, Patrick, Flint, Joe, Mark, Winston, Watson, Ana, and my family. Thank you for your help, patience, and steadiness.

A FEW IMPORTANT NOTES:
1 - A handful of bubble helmets have arrived damaged. Despite our best efforts, sending glass overseas is always challenge. If your helmet is damaged, please carefully discard the pieces of broken glass, but plan to return the collar pieces, and metal tip. Email me directly with your order # to make arrangements for a replacement.

2 - The Visor is in the DOWN position. TO move the visor in the UP position, remove the visor by sliding it forward. Rotate he gold ear pieces connected to the sides of the helmet so that the holes receiving the visor face upward. Then slide the visor posts that swivel. Insert the visor in the top position.

I apologize for the inconvenience. If there are any other noteworthy issues, please contact us straight away. I will post those I deem valuable for everyone.

FYI - The balance of the Buck figures are on their way to California, set to arrive next month. Thanks and SDCC news coming soon!

Cool that he would address the concerns directly like that :duff

GoHero is doing a lot of cool stuff... can't wait to see what SDCC brings :rock

I hate to hear how bad your figure turned out Creecher and I hope you can get it sorted out. I didn't get a COA with my figure either and Steve has said he was working on it. I was wondering about the visor myself and the only thing I can figure out is that you slide it out and fold the arms down and it sits pretty tightly on top of his head. It looks like you should be able to spin the brackets on the cowl but I was afraid I would break them.

I received mine today and the glass helmet is shattered too. The visor does move up and down, unfortunately the rotator on the left side is broken and his nose is rubbed too. On the QC sheet is says that the visor is supposed to be in the up position, so this is why some of us have the paint rub. This is an amazing figure, but a couple of those QC problems have caused me to have to get some replacement parts from Steve now. I love the attention to detail and quality of this guy, I just hope we can get some of these problems sorted out. I'm sure Steve is probably pissed and will have a good talking to with the factory.

Maybe yours will arrive all in one piece I am feeling in the minority here. I do agree that there should have been some kind of padding around the glass helmet and like Galactiboy said I hope this does not become an issue with these figures so more people will pick them up on down the line.

Well on the QC sheet is says there is supposed to be foam around the glass helmet. I don't know if that is referring to the plastic tray Buck comes in or some foam padding that was supposed to be there.

Not sure about Flash... I think he was originally Q2, but the post on GoHero just said "later this year".

Hopefully Steve will crack the whip on the Shanghai slopjockeys, and the system will be worked out nicely before Flash ships. The Buck figure looks nice, wish I could have afforded him, I'm betting he's going to be a real grail down the road, and I'm glad to see those of you that had problems are having them rectified with haste and quality attention.

The issue of the broken helmet continues. My figure arrived today and it also has a broken helmet. If the helmet had been packed in foam, as the QA check sheet states, it might have been saved. Other wise I think the figure is teriffic down to his shinny fingernails. The little ray gun is very well crafted. This is a high quality figure with a slight packing problem. I e-mailed Steve right after I found the broken helmet and he said no problem replaceing it, and enclosed a return address. The only other problem was the poor translation for the remote instructions. I understand he plans on posting new instructions on the internet.

Old Grandpa
PS I also own the full size prop ray gun and it's fantasic.

Thanks for posting that information here kain. I did forget to include my order number when I first emailed him.

The visor is a point of contention with me. The helmet is rubber and the gold ear pieces are metal, using a couple of outward pointing metal elbows to secure it to a circular opening made for them in the helmet. I can see how pulling the visor forwards will release it from the helmet, but the rotating of the gold ear pieces is not very practical at all. The friction between the two surfaces leaves it open to wear, and the resistance caused makes you think you're doing something wrong. Don't be surprised if the ear pieces come away when you attempt this. I thought mine fell apart, but it's just a weak point of it's design.

Another worry in the design is on the collar of the bubble helmet. There are two rubber straps, one on each side, to do up, to keep the helmet securely in place. This rubber is very thin and delicate. It looks like it would break quite easily, so be careful doing them up or maneuvering the figure, to not put added stress to these straps.

In this picture you can see that the slot in the ear pieces have been rotated from a horizontal to a vertical position. The swivels, on the visor arms that insert into the slot in the gold ear pieces, are at a 90 degree angle. These don't lock in place, so I would imagine it's the friction between the visor and the rubber helmet keeping the visor up. Other than that, the ear pieces must have to be rotated 45 degrees and the visor slotted back into the slots, to achieve the up visor pose, but then the visor would lay at a 45 degree angle, and I don't see any pictures of it like that.

It's all very unclear. A complete instruction manual really would be useful with this figure.

Interesting info. I didn't realize that the swivel point on the visor was meant to be adjust to the vertical position when raised.

I GOT MINE!!!! I guess I was one of the lucky ones as my bubble helmet arrived intact. However, I did get the slight paint rub on the nose.

All in all, THIS FIGURE IS AWESOME!!! It feels really solid and is simply a beautiful design. I can't wait to try out the mp3 feature!

Please do test out the MP3 feature. I think mine doesn't work.

Congrats Ultramanitrator.

You may think that samueljd, as do I, but I must admit I haven't really bothered. I pressed all the buttons and pointed it at Buck, but nothing. :lol

I asked Steve a few questions and have some answers. Sorry, I forget what the questions were now, :lol anyway.

- No problems with the USB either. Small end in figure, large end in PC. Browse with Explorer or Finder.

- Yes it is tricky to operate manually without disturbing the clothes. It will take a few tries and then you will be able to do it with your eyes closed.

- One of the features to getting the vest off is that the arms come out the sockets. Just be careful as it is not the kind of thing you do a million times.

- The IR is on the side. The remote, like a TV remote need line of site. It can work through the clothes, but it is not like your car remote where you can chirp the alarm from 100 feet away. I will have the range and instructions next week.

Thanks creecher, I actually didn't look in Explorer to see if any files were saved onto Buck, I just tried punching some of the buttons on the body. My remote wasn't lighting up as it says it should on the instructions though.

Quite some interesting information! Good that I can learn from the experience of others that received this figure before me. I agree, it's pretty cool that Steve addresses the issues straight on.
There's also movement on my Buck Rogers figure: "Handed over to Customs". I hope they don't keep it there for too long, and, most importantly, that they don't make me pay taxes!

Movement on mine as well:

Inbound Out of Customs, May 28, 2009, 11:16 am
Inbound Into Customs
Inbound International Arrival, May 28, 2009, 11:08 am, ISC SAN FRANCISCO (USPS)
