Got the guy today - I'm loving it, but there are some definite problems. My bubble was fine, no breaks or cracks, no paint rubs on the head, although I haven't been able to get the visor to move. The belt buckle was off when he arrived, but that was a good thing as I probably wouldn't have figured out how to open it if that hadn't been the case. Also the top slider wooden piece on the box was split down the middle. Doesn't really effect how it looks though and with it closed probably wouldn't even notice.

The instructions for the MP3 seem to have been written by someone who has English as a 3rd language. And the photo of the switches on the back is upside down, which took me forever to figure out. The lack of anything that says "play" stymied me for some time. I finally got the thing to work and it's nice and loud - sounds great! And the remote works like a charm.

It's kind of a pain that the vest doesn't come off - makes accessing the MP3 controls difficult. All this faux leather made out of rubber looks like it should be weak, but it's all pretty strong. I had real difficulties getting the gloves on and thought for sure I'd rip them. The left glove started pulling away between the cuff and the hand, but that's a glue seam and once it's on it's not noticable.

Butting the pants back on I couldn't get the belt to reach and ended up pulling one of the metal tabs off. I'm trying to glue it - we'll see if that will work.

The metal gun is fantastic - very heavy and shiny. Fits in the holster and hands well and looks great.

The body is great - feels very sturdy and heavy. Nice posability. The rubber boots make getting him to stand a bit difficult. Haven't tried with the rocket pack and helmet yet. The lights on the rocket back are nice and bright - very cool. Although I wish you could pull the flames out for an "at rest" look to the pack.

Overall I'm pleased with him: Looks - 10, Toughness 5, Posability 6 (would be higher without the boots), Coolness 8.

I think we definitely have a new 1/6th player in town - this was a very ambitious figure for a first release and I'm sure there are some things that would have been done differently if this were the 2nd figure. But I'm really looking forward to Flash and the Clash of the Titans figures.

Dave, the flames do pop out pretty easily. I know because mine arrived with one of them popped out. Carefully hold the mounting for the flames on the jet pack in place when you pull the flames out, because one of my mounting was broken of the jet pack too. Also the vest does come off, you just have to pop the arms off (they are ball socket arms and very easy to pop on and off).

Once the packages reach the US they get delivered by the regular USPS - right?
The EMS tracking page for my order shows an attempted delivery yesterday but
there was no indication of it at my house.

The postman was probably just being lazy. I've copied down my tracking number and brought that to my post office with my ID and picked up my packages when that happens to me.

Well, I sent off Buck's head, his shattered helmet, hat, left hand glove, jet pack, and remote control for replacement. I'll keep everyone posted on how thing go. Evidently we have to pay the shipping to get replacements sent to us.

Good to know - I didn't want to pull too hard, perhaps with more force I could get the visor to rise also.

Dave pull the visor away from his face until it is completely off of the cowl. Then turn the two metal pieces on his cowl until the visor holes are straight up. There will be two swivels on his visor that you turn down and stick in the visor holes.

Mine came in today!

The BAD NEWS: My bubble helmet arrived not only cracked, but shattered in a million pieces. :(

The GOOD NEWS: That is apparently the only thing messed up. Nothing else broken or rubbed off. Also, I got a very low Edition Number.... #008/1000. :rock

Can't get the MP3 player to work. :( Are those little lights supposed to blink like the weird instructions indicate?

Wow, not just 008/1000 but 008 of GoHero as a Company. :D

You have to pay for shipping? That's strange, after all, it's not your fault that the figure arrived damaged, is it? I don't remember Sideshow ever charging me for shipping on replacements, neither does HT, Three A... . In fact I can't remember ever having to pay shipping on replacement parts.

That's not entirely correct, because the Buck Rogers Atomic Disintegrator Pistol is also numbered (ES 1000), and I think it started shipping before the 1/6 scale figure. There even was a 1/6 scale version of that pistol sold at last years SDCC, and that was numbered too - very low ES, like 30 or so.

Anyway, I sure hope my 12" Buck arrives in good order. That's more important now. And if the edition number should be close to my order number... :D That would be swell.

Well, this is the first 1:6 figure for Go Hero, so Paul is basically correct.

Also, I have #7 of the 1:6 Disintegrator from SDCC '08. :D

Absolutely, I had to pay for shipping and it was not my fault at all. I received a damaged item just like the other folks who've had issues with theirs. I asked Steve if he was covering the shipping and he said no.

Great! You should be able to send back the bubble helmet and get a replacement.

Yep! Already heard back from Steve! By the way, he's already fired the factory responsible and everything else (including Flash) will be handled by different folks. It's really a shame that these QC issues are happening because Steve really did his part to prevent just this kind of stuff. The QC Checklist was an awesome idea... they just flat-out didn't follow it and checked things that were not done. :(

Also, here is what he had to say about the missing COAs:

We are still scratching our heads about the COAs. They
were made, and simply not put in the box and now they are gone. So another
nice little thing to contend with. Give me some time on that as well, but
we will figure something out.

Man, these folks are screwing him left and right. :(

One cool thing to hear was this about my Edition # 008 figure:

WOW you got number 8! That is a new discovery too as all the numbers below 25 were not to go out for licensing reasons. SO congrats on that!

Sweet! :rock

That's what Steve said, huh? I got # 5. I think that was my order placement spot or within a couple of places. Neat!
My buck had the busted bubble but was otherwise fine. Everything seems to be in order. The helmets didn't have to be a problem. If they had used the foam pad oround the head that the checklist says they did it would have been fine. But the figure itself is a beauty. After examining Buck I'm looking forward to the Larry Crabbe "Flash Gordon" and Commando Cody more than ever. Great job, Steve.
