Can anyone confirm... Is this the finished product, straight from Deagostini without custom painting, or is this the MR Falcon?

That looks more like a custom painted MR Falcon. The only known photo of the completed DeAgostini Falcon is this one:

However it is the prototype and is missing alot of details that should be fixed by the time the issues get to that point (sidewalls etc). I do know that if you were to build this OOB it would look very toyish due to the shiney surface from the molded plastic. To make it look truly like a replica will require some work on the part of the builder. This isn't your kids typical model. Sure it has all teh detail that everyone has been screaming about over the years, but it is also attempting to appeal to the younger generation in ease of building so that if you were to build it right out of the package, it would look good, but if you're a master builder like myself you would detail it make it look like a true replica!

I do believe the both pics above are the DeAg Falcon prototypes. It's hard to tell but they both have the incorrect thickness where the mandibles meet the saucer part of the top hull. The MR much thinner in that area, and has the proper undercut. The two falcons while painted different both have more of a thick ledge there which leads me to believe they are DeAg protos.

Actually I think you're wrong... the top image is the modified MR that Steve Dymszo did. SOLD! ULTRA RARE!! I know Steve had modified a MR Falcon with all the hash marks and signatures as well as a bunch of missing pieces and sold it recently before he was contacted by DeAgo to help them retool their kit (which is why the UK released was delayed several months and then reissued with all the parts retooled/resized/accurized etc). I see what you mean about the saucer edge thou... it shouldn't be solid like it shows in that pic, but the plates should hang over the edge. The only prototype image is the bottom one... but it's not a completed one due to the missing pieces (the plate in front of the gun turret and the port extra piece that was replaced) and quite possibly is a photo taken mid-process. If that's teh case that would explain why it looks that way and there's no "overhung plating". I do know that they are working off the same 3D scans that they made of the original 32" Falcon. So it's more likely that the top pic is one of the MR Falcons and not the prototype DeAgostini.

I got my "shipped out" email this morning which means that tomorrow I should be receiving the second set of parts (issues 5-8) tomorrow. Only bad thing is that they ran low on the binders and it won't be included with this shipment. Instead they will be sending it out separatly when they have restocked them. But no matter... it means that I'll be able to start working on this beauty!

I'm up to date now with issue 14 so think I will make a start over the weekend :)

Can't show what it looks like lit until I get the cockpit tube parts.
I use the light on my iPhone to see what it looks like but it prevents me from grabbing pictures. ;)

Thanks!! I'm not much of a modeler or customizer. This mod is really easy to do. I did the same with the eyes on the Tamashii Threepio. I would highly recommend it.

Can someone at Celebration please take pics of this DeAgostini Millennium Falcon... I'd like to see some of the details and the paint.
